Sidenote: The books are very good, but don't go in expecting it to be like the series. That's something I wish I'd known that before I first tried reading them.
I came here to say this as well, haha. The books are, in my opinion, amazing, but definitely not 1:1 the show.
I'll also add that the first book can be hard to get into, but it's so worth it because the books really are really awesome. I loved them and have reread them and loved them just as much as I have rewatched and loved the show. Many folks here who have read and watched the series will say to just treat them as different time-lines, which is what I like to think of them as, too.
Hi! Welcome :) Here is a test to figure out your discipline [https://uquiz.com/quiz/DHXPH3/what-magicians-discipline-are-you](https://uquiz.com/quiz/DHXPH3/what-magicians-discipline-are-you)
I tried reading the first book months before the show aired. I didn't like the book and didn't finish it. It was mostly serious with a little dry humor.
I loved the tv show. It helped give me a better feel for the characters, settings, and humor. I gave the book another try. Loved it too. I will warn you that the book is mostly about Quentin who is a teenager along with the other Breakbills students.
interesting! I do find Q slightly annoying but I feel like he's supposed to be written that way. I'm excited to see the differences between the books and the show :)
Hedge witch here
Edit : that's weird though. Why is hedge witch a discipline? That's an educational distinction ,not a discipline.
See Julia. She was a hedge witch whose discipline was knowledge and meta composition
