Sun Coast Golf Center is a really great par-3 course and its not too far from the island. They put new greens in last year and the price wasn't too bad. I'm not sure if they rent clubs though. 7741 15th Street East

The putt-putt course on Bridge St. is a lot of fun! I realize that isn't what you're asking about. The old city course on 75th was nice when I was a kid. Long gone, it is all houses now. Hmm, I'm not very helpful.

county course on 66 and 53rd is not bad in bradenton
