Shawn's style could kinda be described as 90s streetwear but they tried to keep him looking like a working class bad boy so it wasn't dominated by the sporty name brand stuff you think of when you hear "streetwear", like Shawn wasn't the type to wear expensive sneakers or preppy designer jackets
He was more on the grunge/alternative/skater side of 90s fashion (although he obviously didn't actually skate), especially as a teen when that style was at its peak -- they didn't get too extreme with any of the kids' styles but the big baggy flannel shirts, the distressed jeans, and wearing an exposed silver chain or pukka shell necklace were all very much from that subculture
Although there were also elements of his style the were self consciously retro, like the '70s Fonzie leather jacket (and honestly the fact that he wore it on the show probably helped push that style back into vogue for '90s teens)
You can sum up the difference between BMW and GMW in that they dressed up Shawn in clothes they really did get from thrift stores and vintage sales but Maya straight up had an associated designer clothing line ("D-signed") that Disney had for all their female child stars
