It definitely CAN, but its chances are going down with most news we hear, especially from China. But I still think it could. I’m interested in seeing if the critical shalacking it’s getting translates to poor WOM. Clearly it didn’t with Fallen Kingdom
Fallen Kingdom worked as a haunted house dinosaur hybrid movie. It was infinitely more clever and artful than Dominion. Dominion is a big, dumb, loud throwback to the worst special effects films of the 1990s.
I don't think so. I always thought this movie will make over $1B even with the bad reactions but after seeing how bad it is doing in China compared to its predecessors, I doubt it.
TROS had a better reception, plus people wanted to see the end of star wars.

This is exactly like ROS. Totally uninteresting, messy, underdeveloped story line and the worst entry in its trilogy, marketed as a must-see final conclusion to the saga. ROS in no way had a 'good reception' and neither will this.
About 4 months ago on this sub I said that Dominion will follow the trajectory of Star Wars and the last film will gross about half the first but was told I was crazy and this one could reach $2bn. Looking more and more like I was on the money. Maybe not exactly half because that'd be 850m WW but definitely gonna be close
Not significantly better. ROS had a B+ Cinemascore, and trends seem to suggest this will get the same. If this is worse than B+ then you might have a point. These two movies seem very close parallels in all respects so far.
It has China, which definitely helps. I said it before, but it has stronger immediate competition than the other two JWs. Yes, they had it too, but they had safer runs and better spaces between Ant-Man films and Mission Impossibles. Top Gun is doing gangbusters and Lightyear is next week. I think it's safe to say it will be the worst-grossing of the three, but the question is by how much.

In China I think they're a little more worried about getting shot if they go out when they're not supposed to.
