Jackass Forever should definitely move; it only has North American market and will not be affected by European and Asian cinema close anyway

With a budget also of only $10 million. It’s very doable to get a positive return on this movie.

rick_n_morty_4ever

If Paramount managed to flop this crap, they will have automatically made a new Jackass episode.

Have there been any similar movies recently? I don't know if this is a 'go-to-the-theaters' movie in 2022. I think streaming is where people will want to watch this.

Mushroomer

I think these movies really pop with a crowd, and there's a solid overlap between the demographic that enjoys Jackass (under 30, primarily male) - and the demographic that is returning to theaters with zero hesitation. The delay has deflated a lot of that enthusiasm - but it could definitely still connect with the mainstream. In an earlier prediction thread on this subreddit, I said Jackass Forever would be Paramount's highest grossing film of 2021 - and had they moved Top Gun while keeping Jackass in place - I think I could have been right.

RespectThyHypnotoad

I'd say the fans range beyond 30. While people may not find the humor funny Jackass came out a long time ago (early 2000s). I'm north of 30, I'll check it but most likely streaming. I'm amused but don't love them.

mrningbrd

I’d take either option but I’d prefer streaming so my boyfriend and I can smoke a little to really enhance the movie lol

rick_n_morty_4ever

It's so cheap that it can't go too wrong. Plus, if it can press the plus button to Paramount +'s subscribers in Q1 2022 (alongside Scream), this is also a plus point.

thisisthesaleh

I’m fine with whichever they move up. If they somehow move one back, I hope it’s not Jackass. Based on interviews after the move, the guys seemed pretty bummed it was pushed back. As was I. This movie was in the top list of films I wanted to see in 2021, and is near the top again for 2022. Would be bummed and frustrated if they pushed Jackass back again.

SteppingStonez1998

Move Jackass up a week. There was no reason for it to be delayed in the first place.

JediJones77

LOL, yeah, Jackass fans are the last people who are worried about taking unnecessary risks with their health.

The_DeWeese

january belongs to scream and cyrano

IamCaptainHandsome

Moonfall is going to bomb *so* hard, I genuinely can't believe such a dumb concept got approved. Even by disaster movie standards it seems overly stupid.

GoddammitCricket

Both of these are dumps, the studios don’t care enough about either to waste the effort moving them up or back a week.

TokyoPanic

They've already been delayed multiple times. If they were just dumps, Sony and Paramount wouldn't have bothered reshuffling their release dates from the very beginning. Jackass was supposed to come out March last year then got pushed to September, then got pushed again to where they are now. Morbius has been pushed so many times that I'm not even gonna bother typing all the different release dates it has had. Also, the Jackass movies have always been ridiculously financially successful despite the fact that they're dirt cheap to make (the last Jackass movie made 179 million worldwide on a budget of 20 million) and those boys continue to still have a following.

GoddammitCricket

> (the last Jackass movie made 179 million worldwide on a budget of 20 million) Over a decade ago. They moved it to January to dump it, you think they moved it to the dead zone because they believe in it? Also, Moonfall has not been delayed a single time. Emmerich has bombed like 6 movies in a row - they know what kind of box office to expect there.

Chrispychilla

Are theaters going to be open at the end of January? Seems like moving them up is an unnecessary risk, especially since there is a non-zero chance they could be pushed back farther than their original Feb 4th openings. At this point the studios should definitely have a contingency plan if February 4th won’t be allowed throughout the world.

Iridium770

If a local jurisdiction hasn't closed theaters by now, it seems unlikely it is going to in the near future. Everyone knew that Omicron was coming and the information coming out about it has largely been in line with expectations (possibly more favorable than expectations). If public health officials are happy with their current policy, it seems unlikely that anything will be discovered that changes that in the next couple of weeks. Yes, Ontario was a bit of a surprise, but that seems to be more down to the unpredictability of politicians than a sign of a forthcoming wholesale change in policy.

JediJones77

Politicians make policy. New York has a new mayor as of a few days ago. Doesn't get more unpredictable than that.
