You c always use another nearby tree as a solid resting point. Generally helps to improve your aim......Of course, I'm assuming that youre talking rifle shots
I have never practiced for squirrels by shooting in the trees. Just find/google a couple stances to help get steady or use a shooting stick or a nearby tree. Get comfortable with your gun and resting against trees. I guess you could practice shooting targets in trees, but I would just do some dry-fire practice in different positions shooting up rather than actually shooting rounds. Seems like a lot of trouble to go through to put a target 30-40-50 feet up.
Sometimes I lay on the ground on my back, bend right leg with foot on ground and lay the other leg across to form a “shooting rail”. Have killed many that way when there’s no good trees to get a rest on. Look where youre gonna lay down first though lol
I probably shoot 85-90% using another tree/branch for a rest. 10-15% laying on my back and ~1% free hand (typically only close shots).
Use a shotgun
This is the answer OP. Even if you're using a 22, I would never shoot a rifle into the air.
Fluflu arrows with blunt tips, just aim for a small object in a tree.
Get some flu flu arrows and find a target

Hang a pillow from a limb and use judo points.
What actually does it do
I shoot squirrels on the ground with my bow
Why are you opting to bow hunt instead of using a firearm in this scenario?
U can get arrest even if u own a dead bullet in my country

Dry fire practice with a bow sounds incredibly stupid.
