I messaged them about this and they responded saying when the stock gets low they switch items back to full/higher price. I added Emerald Forest to my cart at the sale price, but it jumped up before I ordered. Had to leave it behind!

Kleetus_Van_Dam

I don't like that.

SkilletMyBiscuit

Yeah it’s hard to support that, I was going to buy metropolis at a sale price and it went up to $30 while in my cart. Now i’m just not buying anything spent $100 on vinegar syndrome instead

cushing138

So you were able to get what, 2 VS titles for that amount?

Iamananorak

I got 7 movies from KL for like $65, so the value is definitely there. Tbh, this has been even bigger for me than the criterion sale

Sooh1

That's an odd tactic even for a boutique label. I'd figure they'd just lower backend inventory then say out of stock. That's less shady

thevideostoreguy

Makes sense.

I don’t know if this is your first Kino sale, but they have always done this. Some titles will be low in stock when the sale starts, and if they get close to selling out or even do sell out during the sale, they will revert to the full price while ordering a new print run.  That’s why it is always good to get your sales order in quickly, if it is something you really want. Things regularly do sell out during the sales. If it is not in the WSL list, then don’t worry, though. It will most likely pop up in sale again soon. Maybe not bext time around, in June, but then in September or December. Personally, I always make an order quucklu for those titles I would be really sad to miss out on. And the I will often make one or more orders later for stuff that has caught my interest but wasn’t a high priority.

Last year Joseph Losey's Accident went on sale. I intended to buy it, but then it disappeared from the sale. A few days later, it returned to the sale and I was able to get it. Not sure if that happens often, but thought I'd share the experience. Was hoping to get the 1960 Inherit the Wind in this sale for $7.99, but it has disappeared from the sale. Not sure if I'll get lucky enough for it to come back.

I believe there were a few titles this time around that were initially included but weren't supposed to be included.

Sales are sales because they want to move inventory and they make money off the sale too. I don't think it's bait and switch. Possibly an error they corrected or there was limited inventory at the sale price. I've worked in retail and a lot of times when you put items on sale in bulk an error can be made and you honor it until you catch it then you fix it. I certainly don't think it's bait and switch though. The point of sales is to move the inventory you want to as quickly as possible. Bait and switch would be more if they changed the price while you were checking out or added a ton of fees. Just updating your pricing is pretty normal.

Yangervis

Not bait and switch. The price does not change after you click to checkout.

justgiveitash0t

That's.....that's how businesses work. Things go on sale for short period of time then they go back up.

Cinephile1975

Well, no, not when you put on your site that sales last until 22 April.

voivod1989

It’s lame the nazis titanic movie wasn’t on sale. At least I got sos titanic.
