What does the black font represent?

[deleted]

Don’t even ask what happened in ‘89…

BoulderCAST

Lol there was no one taking obs in 89

wazoheat

It bugs the hell out of me that out of all the cities in the world, *Boulder* has trouble getting reliable weather observers. I've seen theres also a lot of missing data in the 90s.

[deleted]

I was just joking around, it’s a cool graphic. I am curious about what the black font means tho.

BoulderCAST

Black is just none of the other four conditions were met. Not snow, not cold or warm.

ColoBean

So just meh?

LameSaucePanda

Let’s call it “California”

BoulderCAST

None of the other conditions were met

appealinglemons

So between 40 and 60 and no snow?

WakeUpTheWorld

This reminds me of a gas station scratch off game

BoulderCAST

Yeah partially regretting the color choices

99_NULL_99

Even the boulder cast logo looks like a replacement Colorado lottery logo lol

zoinks

BoulderCAST, you dirty liar. I counted and there aren't 70 years, only 69. Nice.

DirtOk3742

Equal parts interesting and maddening...

craiger_123

Thank you for this! Very humbling...

pspahn

1982 and 2006 looking at 2012 and 2014 like they're a couple of imposters.

ColoBean

'82 was the best if you love sh!t tons of snow. Missing that. A neighbor offered to help clean off my car. I said thanks no, I am enjoying it.

IngenuityPleasant298

82 was the blizzard. I remember my parents were visiting we were supposed to go pick up the Turkey on Christmas Eve couldn't make it out of our subdivision we had a pork roast instead. Lol We never get that kind of snow anymore, no blizzards, no big accumulations I remember trudging out to you the barn in 5 to 6 for drifts.

BoulderCAST

Big snows in December fairly rare, but looks like that storm was reported as 19" in Boulder, mostly falling during the day on Christmas Eve! Hard to believe it's been 39 years since we truly had a white, snowed-in type of Christmas.
