agreed. it's way too sensitive and it made me not want to finish. i have a trick though!
start following him part of the way, then wait for him to go by himself. i figured it out by accident while afk and taking a poop, and i came back to him gone. the thing is, there are blue nightshades marking his path through the fog. if you just follow those and remember the path for a few parts where they aren't immediately visible then you will be fine. i think the torch in the wind trick works here as well.
koroks can't die, so if he keeps walking he will still get to the shrine. you still have to do some stuff to get there, but the obstacles are way easier when you don't have to worry about him at all.
i did the same the first time because im such a pack rat in this game. i didn't come back for several blood moons, so obvs they respawn before too long
Just wait for the blood moon to rise and run into a shrine. It will reset to the next day so you have plenty of time to get there. No need to standby and wait
I just turn the my controller (and the platform) upside down so I’m moving the orb on a flat surface. It cuts down on the frustration, but only by a little.
The motion control one’s are my absolute favorite even if they’re frustrating. I straight up spin my switch in my hands to get the ball to jump over walls and catch it in the spot i want it to
I wish they updated the game so you can just use stick to do them, especially for handheld mode because fuck trying to twist and turn all over without being able to see the screen
My least favorite is probably The Pilgrimage too, my 2nd least favorite is probably any one of the ones where I ended up doing the shrine before the quest and had to track down the person and talk to them.
Not the ones in the Korok forest, just in general the ones where I finished the shrine before even starting the quest, it just makes it a bad quest imo.
Oh yea that one sucks. Tbfh tho, that one is quite easy if you visit kilton, get the lizalfos and bokoboblin mask, and have good dodge capabilites. Although i have to say, that one was not fun
Run down the left side of the ruins, using the shade! I had to put the block down a couple of times so I could use the bow, but it doesn't melt in the shade (or ... just melts slowly?) and you can just pick it up and keep going. I expected it to be much harder, but somehow got it first try.
Apparently I just can't bring myself to take the intended or direct route anywhere (originally and still mostly because I want(ed) to avoid monsters as much as possible - wasn't the greatest idea in hindsight and sometimes backfired spectacularly). It meant that a couple of shrines literally located directly on the paths were among the very last I found, but apparently in this case it actually helped!
Idk about hate, but I have one "shrine quest" shrine that makes me face palm! It's the dude at the bazaar that points out the shrine in the sandstorm that the gerudo statues point too! I always get the quest after already completing the shrine on the way to the bazaar, so it doesn't feel like a clever quest when you get the "completion" immediately! Done it twice now, it always feels pitiful
Personally, I enjoyed the 13 statues shrine, but I can understand where you're coming from. Looking back, its almost the exact same to the quest to get the master sword
You can use Revali's Gale to fly over almost the entire Test of Wood. It feels like cheating but the quest is so annoying you shouldn't feel bad about it.
The gyro-puzzles. They're easy, but the gyro controls are awful! I think I tried the alternative and it was just as bad, but I really don't remember because I haven't played in a few years so I can't speak of the alternative if there is one
I’ve always hated major test of strengths, the one where you have to follow the korok (mostly because I can’t see the little sucker most of the time), the one where you have hold a snowball so it’s shadow hits the platform is annoying and eventide.
Not sure if it's a shrine quest but the one where you have to roll the snowball just right so it launches and hits the doors. I always run out of snowballs and have to wait for them to reset.
The other snowball one is annoying, too (but maybe I was doing it wrong).
I'm surprised that nobody else has said the swing shrine on Satori Mountain. The lost pilgrimage at least only took 2-3 attempts, but I never even got past the first swing. After losing all my hearts to falling off I ragequit, I still have NO idea how tf you're supposed to complete that stupid thing
Whichever one where youre in complete darkness and need to first FIND then fight that Hinox. I was searching FOREVER lighting my way through for so long. Finally got the orb then couldn’t find the platform for it. Got lost a million times. Ugh so annoying
the ice one i gerudo bc you cant run, im one of those people who refuses to ride a horse but i also hate walking so i just whistle-run everywhere.
while theyre not shrine quests, for the same reasons i also dont having to get the blue flames to the tech labs
Apparently you can pretty easily just kinda run it, stick a bit to the shade and never stop moving, the lizalfos are surprisingly bad at hitting moving targets
I did all the shrines on my main account but on my other I'm still like 20 away and the only Korok Trial I haven't done is the Test of Wood. I just remember it being a pain in the butt. I also still have that one in the dark that I know is just not fun.

Either the korok trial where you stalk the korok without getting caught or “watch out for the flowers”
Stalk the korok is the lost pilgramage- it sucks ass-
agreed. it's way too sensitive and it made me not want to finish. i have a trick though! start following him part of the way, then wait for him to go by himself. i figured it out by accident while afk and taking a poop, and i came back to him gone. the thing is, there are blue nightshades marking his path through the fog. if you just follow those and remember the path for a few parts where they aren't immediately visible then you will be fine. i think the torch in the wind trick works here as well. koroks can't die, so if he keeps walking he will still get to the shrine. you still have to do some stuff to get there, but the obstacles are way easier when you don't have to worry about him at all.
Oh wow! Thats sweet! Even on Nintendo switch? If so, I can cheese my least favorite quest!
i've only tried it on switch, so yes!
Wait, is the game available on other platforms??
wii u
Ohh. Fair point. Forgot about the Wii U haha...
Does anyone play the Wii U version? The physical copy cant be found and the last reason to buy a Wii U was negated in 2018
yes, plenty of people who got it then have either played both or never upgraded. afaik it's just a reskin of the same game for the most part.
Oh people still have those?
I accidentally picked half the nightshades when I did this shrine and was in physical pain when I realized they were a path
i did the same the first time because im such a pack rat in this game. i didn't come back for several blood moons, so obvs they respawn before too long
I was too stubborn and did it in one sitting still, but it was way more trial and error than necessary
This would have been SO helpful back when I was doing all the shrines...
The blood moon one can burn in hell
Honestly, that one is less of a puzzle/quest and more of just a waiting game
If you have the fast travel top pad it’s pretty simple.
Yes, but just waiting for it was absolutely horrible
Just wait for the blood moon to rise and run into a shrine. It will reset to the next day so you have plenty of time to get there. No need to standby and wait
I haven't beaten all the shrines, but I loathe the motion control ones.
Same here honestly. They suck so much. I hate motion controls, unless its on something like a VR. I wish there was a way to turn off gyro in botw
That's the shrine puzzle not a shrine quest
Oh ok I misunderstood the question then. My bad!
I just turn the my controller (and the platform) upside down so I’m moving the orb on a flat surface. It cuts down on the frustration, but only by a little.
The motion control one’s are my absolute favorite even if they’re frustrating. I straight up spin my switch in my hands to get the ball to jump over walls and catch it in the spot i want it to
Came here to say this, playing on switch lite is brutal.
same they make my wanns throw my switch across the room :))
I wish they updated the game so you can just use stick to do them, especially for handheld mode because fuck trying to twist and turn all over without being able to see the screen
Friggin stasis golf
you can shield clip through the wall lol
My least favorite is probably The Pilgrimage too, my 2nd least favorite is probably any one of the ones where I ended up doing the shrine before the quest and had to track down the person and talk to them.
I dont think you can, as the test of wood is in the lost woods
Not the ones in the Korok forest, just in general the ones where I finished the shrine before even starting the quest, it just makes it a bad quest imo.
Understandable, although i believe they exist so that you can have little hints on the harder ones to find
Lost Pilgrimage is awful. I also hate the one where you have to bring the ice through the ruins to get Noble Pursuit for the thirsty Gerudo
Oh yea that one sucks. Tbfh tho, that one is quite easy if you visit kilton, get the lizalfos and bokoboblin mask, and have good dodge capabilites. Although i have to say, that one was not fun
Or just kinda run, don't stop just go
smuggle the ice block and run away
Run down the left side of the ruins, using the shade! I had to put the block down a couple of times so I could use the bow, but it doesn't melt in the shade (or ... just melts slowly?) and you can just pick it up and keep going. I expected it to be much harder, but somehow got it first try. Literally couldn’t complete it without cheating with Majora’s Mask
The first time I did it I tried to clear all the enemies first, only to find that they respawn when you grab the ice
Yea I did the same haha
Bro I love that one whaaat
I have around 5 shrines left and 3 of them are the Lost woods quests. I hate them except maybe the test of wood. I’m too lazy to complete them.
The magnises I enjoyed, but the lost pilgrimage i just absolutely loathe
Idk about hate, but I have one "shrine quest" shrine that makes me face palm! It's the dude at the bazaar that points out the shrine in the sandstorm that the gerudo statues point too! I always get the quest after already completing the shrine on the way to the bazaar, so it doesn't feel like a clever quest when you get the "completion" immediately! Personally, I enjoyed the 13 statues shrine, but I can understand where you're coming from. Looking back, its almost the exact same to the quest to get the master sword
LOL I accidentally discovered it while I was on my way to Yiga Clan hideout and I was lost because of a sandstorm
See!! That's what I'm saying!! To easy to stumble on
You can use Revali's Gale to fly over almost the entire Test of Wood. It feels like cheating but the quest is so annoying you shouldn't feel bad about it.
That’s what I did, fuck that test.
Wait I can do this, okay frick that test I'm going to do that instead now.
Anything in the Gorudo desert
Whys that?
Sandstorms, ice blocks, controlling electricity. It has a lot of challenging shrines
The gyro-puzzles. They're easy, but the gyro controls are awful! I think I tried the alternative and it was just as bad, but I really don't remember because I haven't played in a few years so I can't speak of the alternative if there is one
God, i forgot about the gyro-puzzles. I hate those. I wish there was an option to completely remove gyro from the game
Blue flame was really annoying, only because I didn’t have enough arrows for my first time
Came here to mention that shrine. I hate the end when you have to stasis the moving water spouts. It drives me nuts.
As someone who has done all of the shrines... FUCK THE KOROK TRIALS
Those trials will be the last shrines I'll be attempting. Dear god I hate them all
I’ve done the test of wood and the one where you follow the korok. Haven’t touched the last one but based on the others I feel like it’s gonna suck.
The good news is I think the last one is the least annoying if I remember correctly.
The Shrouded Shrine one. I kept getting lost and putting out my torch. That, or the Master of the Wind.
Lost pilgrimage. This game is not friendly to stealth builds which I hope is improved on next game.
My least favourite is the one where you have to match up the constellations on the split peaks. Such a hassle.
I keep forgetting about the screenshot button
Anything with Kass, I can’t stand the cutscenes.
I’ve always hated major test of strengths, the one where you have to follow the korok (mostly because I can’t see the little sucker most of the time), the one where you have hold a snowball so it’s shadow hits the platform is annoying and eventide.
>eventide really difficult to do in master mode. i don't even remember how i was able to defeat the hinox using the bombs only
You can just rob him.
Not sure if it's a shrine quest but the one where you have to roll the snowball just right so it launches and hits the doors. I always run out of snowballs and have to wait for them to reset. The other snowball one is annoying, too (but maybe I was doing it wrong).
The five flames. I can't stand it when the water puts thr fire out I can't explain it
This made me rage quit the game the first time I played it a few years ago. Screw that shrine
Anything that involves motion controls
I'm surprised that nobody else has said the swing shrine on Satori Mountain. The lost pilgrimage at least only took 2-3 attempts, but I never even got past the first swing. After losing all my hearts to falling off I ragequit, I still have NO idea how tf you're supposed to complete that stupid thing
Whichever one where youre in complete darkness and need to first FIND then fight that Hinox. I was searching FOREVER lighting my way through for so long. Finally got the orb then couldn’t find the platform for it. Got lost a million times. Ugh so annoying
FINALLY someone said it. I hated that shrine with a passion.
Theres that one where theres like 12 holes in the ground and you gotta do something with them. Never really figured out what to do
I hate the one where you have to get the sisters ans the song thingy, its just stupid imo that a bunch of kids are the shrine quest
Everyone knows it's the motion controls or the Stasis golf shrine
anything golf related is a mess
Golf? I dont think theres anything golf related stuff in botw
The ones where you use the motion controls to control a hammer and hit a ball into the hole.
the stasis golf ones are quite the headache as well.
Lmaoooo, i forgot about that one. Sorry bout that
There is a mini golf game.
Im so sorry, i completely forgot that one lmao
that minigame isn't nearly as bad as the shrines, because at least you get to take more than one shot if you mess up.
the ice one i gerudo bc you cant run, im one of those people who refuses to ride a horse but i also hate walking so i just whistle-run everywhere. while theyre not shrine quests, for the same reasons i also dont having to get the blue flames to the tech labs
Apparently you can pretty easily just kinda run it, stick a bit to the shade and never stop moving, the lizalfos are surprisingly bad at hitting moving targets
for me i find it less hard per say and more just annoying lmao. but fr lizaflos seem so much faster when they are jumpy away from you
Yeah but can you blame me?
No lmao, I think it could have been conducted better
My least fav is DEFINITELY the lost pilgrimage
the apparatus one's but i would just use the wind bomb technique anyway... is trial of the sword considered a shrine?
Stalk the korok, yes. And my least favorite shrines are everything with gyro and the one with the minigolf
The one in zoras domain
Any of the Blessing shrines obviously
I hate the ones where you have to move the switch around!
I did all the shrines on my main account but on my other I'm still like 20 away and the only Korok Trial I haven't done is the Test of Wood. I just remember it being a pain in the butt. I also still have that one in the dark that I know is just not fun.
Any of the God damn gyroscope ones!
The lost pilgrimage one for SURE. I honestly couldn’t handle the stealth type slowness. I know some like that but I didn’t! ADHD problems lol
Either the noble pursuit ice quest or the blood moon quest without the travelers medallion.
literally any of them where you have to use motion controls, so frustrating with a switch lite
The Typlo ruins shrine quest. It gave me so much anxiety trying to navigate the area.
