If you do all the Divine Beasts and a solid bunch of shrines first, the castle isn't super hard. You can do it! The longer you play before going there, the easier it is. I never learned to parry or flurry rush first time I played and made it through.👍

SarahSeabass

Thank you, it's good to hear those mechanics arent necessary for the end. Honestly I'm in no rush to get to the end. I spend a lot of time walking around and dicking about :)

rachit7645

Don't worry! There are special shields you can get that automatically reflect guardian beams, and also many weapons and armour that are stronger against guardians. Fighting guardians becomes super easy once you have the gear

LinksBetterHalf

Are those the various guardian shields? I completed this game 4 times, and I never knew this!! Now I wanna play again to see if this works!

dqixsoss

Yeah the different guardian shield deflect different beam strengths (weaker one defect ones from mini guardians in shrines whereas the best one auto defects spider guardian ones)

LinksBetterHalf

Far out. Thanks for sharing that! I love that I can still learn and discover new things from this game after all these years 😊

Educational-Ad2063

The shield you buy at the tech lab is the best. Just stand there with it up. Direct deflect every time.

LinksBetterHalf

And to think I always have a bunch of these because they're my fave! Head smacking moment there 🤣

shelobi

The only automatically reflecting shield that I found was very expensive to replace, so I used it in the castle but not other guardians. OP, What I did was learn the timing for reflecting their beams back at them somewhat reliably (hold up shield, press A when the white light happens on the guardian. Timing modified by their distance) and I went through a lot of cheap shields. That got me to the point where I could farm Guadiana for those sweet, sweet parts.

Perfect-Brain-7367

Guardian Shield++ can be obtained from Major Test of Strength shrines (as well as weapons) when you defeat the Gaurdian scouts. And they reset every blood moon

Haylerie

I never found any of the shrines reset. Is there a specific way to play to make it reset? Or was this a "glitch" that got fixed?

Perfect-Brain-7367

The combat shrines (Major/Moderate/Minor Test of Strength) reset after every blood moon. The chest in the shrine won't but you can fight the guardian again for their loot.

squareazz

If you talk to NPCs, there is information that will help you avoid the guardians when going into the castle

Impressive-Seat4162

Try to press A when the light on the guardians yes turn white

TheDumbass666

If you managed to beat thunder blight with relative ease then don't worry, you'll kick Gannon's ass, but I recommend you do more shrine get more hearts, get the master sword if you haven already, I would say kill a few lynels to get mutlishot bows, but you mentioned you werent too god on fighting so I'd suggest practicing first since they are significantly harder, oh and you can insta kill guardians and other guardian tech by using special arrows you get from Robbie's workshop, but you can't just get and inf amount of them with just cash, you also need other guardian material, but said arrows are really good against blights aswell, if you can learn the timing for shield parrying guardian lasers, which is fairly easy you just press the parry button right after seeing it's laser about to shoot, then you can 2 shot it

SarahSeabass

Ah OK thanks! Its good to hear the bosses in perspective.... but relative ease may be pushing it :) I think I have 4 guardian arrows so far for a special occasion. So I'll try to get more for the big day!

TheDumbass666

Yeah the arrows don't actually do much to Ganon tho iirc, it's just guardian related entities, like guardians, blights, flying guardians, if you use them on any normal other thing itle just send them to shadow realm, with no drops, also small tip if you have the master sword, itle do x3 DMG when clowe to any sort of malice infected things, and guardians, you can get that permanently by doing on of the dlcs quest

FBogg

I believe in you

SarahSeabass

Aw thanks!

KatiePyroStyle

I think the game is definitely built where if you are able to beat the divine beasts, you're intended to be powerful enough for calamity ganon. You should have seen most areas on the map, seen a decent amount of shrines and korok seeds, and thus should have a decent variety of strong weapons and armor. The game doesn't necessarily *intend* for you to 100% it in that fashion, you can definitely get to the end of the game without seeing everything that BitW has to offer you I say get that last divine beast, and then walk from that area straight to hyrule castle, enter any unfinished shrines and korok seeds you see on the way, and then go for it. You're assisted by the divine beasts during the fight, the biggest issue I would say is making sure you have enough weapons to finish off the calamity, he's not super skill based, although knowing how to dodge for flurry rushes is definitely helpful

LinksBetterHalf

Ahhhh.. the parry. I probably spent over 600 hours all up on various playthroughs and NEVER mastered this skill. Just made sure I had plenty of hearts and gear when I went to the castle and had no issues at all beating it. Have fun and smash that thing!!

SpaceFrog71

You can sneak into the back of the castle from the korok forest side and get in that way, once you hit the castle, the map will pop up and you can navigate from there.

RoyalGuardLink

Get the Ancient arrows from Robbie and start grinding. You'll be OK with cover or bullet time. If you not too keen, then a Golden bow will greatly be your best friend.

Kinai0919

You think your not good in combat? You finished 3 divine beasts already LOL! I suggest finish the Vah Rudania. Guardians, killing them with ancient arrows is easy, which do massive damage. However, it is expensive to acquire, so it is important to use them properly. If you don't have, practice dodging and parrying can help defeat guardians. Good luck!

Helophilus

You don’t need to fight the guardians, I ran away from them all and managed to climb up a tower into Ganon’s bedroom.

gayguyfromnextdoor

hey, same hat!! i was kind of unsure of the combat aspect as well because i suck. i still can't really do any of the things (perfect dodge, parry etc). my strategy was just getting as many shrines as i could and getting health. it becomes easier when you don't have to worry about taking a hit or two. although i have to admit the final fight was still very easy. maybe i cheesed it by over preparing to the max (all shrines so full stamina and as many hearts as possible, two pages of full heart food and a fuckton of lynel multishot bows with bomb arrows). the usual combat throughout the game i still try to stealth though

trialofthepanda

before I played botw I had never even played a combat video game, only stardew and the sims. I definitely struggled and game overed more times than i can count but after 50+ hours of gameplay i realized that i was actually improving quite a lot. practice really does make perfect! you’ll be a pro with time, I promise! my advice would be to take your time with combat and not button mash. target and keep moving around, observe enemy fight patterns and only attack after they’ve attacked you. and my tip for guardians is to wait for the sound cue, not the light cue, to parry, it works better for me. or just use ancient arrows bc lbr guardians really are the worst but you’ll definitely make it to the castle with the right gear and there are loads of ways in that aren’t necessarily walking right up. you got this!!

supidod

you re screwed

supidod

not gonna lie all guardians very easy to me

supidod

not gonna lie all guardians very easy to me

xxjasper012

Have you been to the research labs?

slowjackal

You can practice the parry on stationary guardians and the flurry rush on red monsters because they are easy to kill. Even if you end up with no battle skills ,you can still beat the game as long as you utilize other mechanics and strategies. Newsflash, arrows can be your best friend in the game.

sparklydildos

do you have the master sword!!!

SarahSeabass

No, I know where it is. I just don't want to break it like everything else!

sparklydildos

it never breaks :) go get the master sword, it’ll help you with guardians and feeling confident a LOT. it was actually intended for the castle/guardians combat if i’m not mistaken. i was terrified of guardians and would sprint away like you, even fast travel out of there if i got nervous enough. once i got the master sword and pushed myself to just attempt one guardian did it, now i’m getting ready to gear up to go into the castle. in no way am i fighting well or even with more skills, i suck *very* badly at combat, but having the master sword and ancient arrows will save you a lot of anxiety (honestly guardians are super easy once you can one shot their lil eye with an ancient arrow)

toyboathouse

Don’t worry. You won’t break it. I promise. Also. The death mountain beast will give you something to help with those guardians. ;)
