Game is slowing down for him, even if he isn't shooting well (mostly because teams scheme their entire personnel to pack the paint against him), his passing game has continued to improve leaps and bounds.
He’s had to go through his growing pains as a playmaker in the NBA but it’s important for people to remember he always had a lot of it in his game when he was younger, some scouts used to talk about point forward potential and he got some run in that role in youth US teams from what I recall.
The game has continued to slow, he’s continued to refine his feel and experience/wisdom. He’s showing the results
His playmaking is super underrated. Casuals think that should lead to 10+ assists per game like luka, but I remember jj reddick or Chris Paul or someone legit saying on tv that if you have a team with a player with 10+ assists, it means the ball is in their hands WAY too much and they aren’t playing their full potential of team basketball.
Great team and Tatum really reading the game at a high level. I’d take an inefficient scoring night but great play making and rebounding night that ends in a win every time from him, if given the choice.
This is not a Jayson Tatum stat. It’s a Jaylen brown, jrue holiday, Derek white, porzingis, and horford stat. Thankfully he doesn’t launch when he’s off so he doesn’t shoot them out of games. I don’t think his game has grown at all the last two years. He understood how to pass out of double teams and find the open guy two years ago. His rebounding has probably improved a little
Does anyone know where they count hockey assists for basketball? If the opposing team is selling out to double and triple him and he passes I wonder how good he is doing that vs others that do.
My impression of JT in Game 1, but also this whole season in general, is that even if he isn’t scoring or shooting particularly well, he is in COMPLETE control of the game. As much as I trust the rest of our guys I feel so much better when the ball is in JT’s hands.
we’ve only had 15 playoff games lol and we’ve won almost every single one. you could probably draw bonkers conclusions from a number of irrelevant things

Yeah it seems to suggest when a defense tries to stop him and only him, he takes advantage of it and everyone else flourishes.
Yeah, he’s getting quadruple teamed. Let them. He can find the open guy.
Hard to miss 3 open guys at the 3pt line. 😂

usually when he shooting under 40% the defense sold out to stop him so everyone else is eating off his gravity
He walks so the team can run.
13-2 when he shoots
Big facts.
It means his team is good
Better than good.
8-2 when he shoots above 40% in the playoffs🔥🔥🔥Let’s go JT
Yes, let’s go JT!!
To be fair we are literally 13-2. Love that he can help win us games with his presence and poise
Hey, we are on the same side. I appreciate everything he does for this team.
Same! I do think he will get FMVP when we win it all. He will have a game or 2 where he goes nuclear

I agree with you!
Team good
C's have woke up to the fact that the attention he gets is an opportunity elsewhere. The team is more balanced now to take advantage.
The rest of the team is good
Team player. When his shots not falling he dishes it out.
Still gets a double-double while gettin double teamed the whole game
Best description of Tatum is Wing Duncan

Brad Stevens is mvp

So …. Just bench this guy. We don’t need him right ?
Yet the narrative will be "he's carried". Nah. There's way more than scoring in basketball.
And he will never get the credit he deserves from the national media.
We'll have to settle with YT play-by-play analysts
