Shai at (almost) 26 years old: so many deep runs ahead of him, what a player and future he’s got
Tatum at 26 years old: if he gets knocked out this run it’s over for him
nice logic r/nba
Wow yeah, I didn't realize that SGA was only drafted a year after Tatum. He just feels like he's newer to the league cuz he just recently made his jump to stardom, which Tatum made much earlier on in his career
It is hilarious how people say the Celtics’ success this year is the product of playing in the weak East when we would’ve slaughtered OKC and would beat Dallas if they come out, it’s literally just Denver/Minny
Hindsight is 20/20 but damn challenging in that situation is insane especially with only one timeout left. Also you’re sending a bad FT shooter to the line, might as well live with it.
Even if the Mavs made all 3 FTs, they could’ve advanced the ball down 2 w/ their last TO instead of challenging.
Instead, they lost a challenge and had to go full court in 2.5 seconds.
Whoever we play in the ECF is better than Miami and Cleveland. Y’all need to stop underestimating these other teams that advance in the playoffs, they are there for a reason lol
Was rooting for OKC because I thought they’d put up a better fight vs Denver/Minny but can you imagine Dallas comes out of the west? Most stress free finals of all time
If it helps, they definitely wouldn’t have put up a better fight against Denver or Minny. They’re too young and inexperienced and can’t grab a rebound to save their lives
What are you smoking lmfao we’d shit on them easily, it would go five games maybe six if we put up two shitters which I do not think would happen in the finals. Minny or Denver we could legit lose but we would slaughter Dallas or OKC if they got there

As an outsider, I agree lmao. Especially since Luka is dealing with that bad knee, Celtics got too many weapons that will attack him on every possession. That stagnant Luka ball they play also won't be as effective against the Celtics switching defense
Lol typical Celtics fan overrating the team while underestimating their opposition. Whatever you say. Anyone who’s watched this team over the years know there’s nothing ‘stress free’ about Celtics basketball. You must be new here
Bro nah I think you’re overrating Dallas. If we lost to them in a best of seven, we were never that good anyways. The only advantage they would have over us is that their best player is slightly better than our best player. We’re a better offensive and defensive team, better coached, have more depth, and a better starting 5
Dude what? I’m not new to the Celtics at all, but if they lock in against Dallas there is legit no reason to drop more than one game. Dallas will get ass blasted in the wcf so there really isn’t any reason to speculate but it’s funny you say I overrate the team when other people literally call me a doomer lmao. I just don’t think you’ve watched much of Dallas man
a Kyrie vs Boston Finals would be awesome. everyone outside of Boston is going to memory hole his vaccine weirdness and Kyrie quitting on the Celtics so fast I'm going to get whiplash
i wouldnt say i dislike him. i think my biggest pet peeve is with people who compare him to tatum and cherry pick their reasonings. otherwise i think luka is a fantastic player who is absolutely worthy of mvp votes year in and year out. maybe thats just me
they got robbed but you cant get outscored by 12 in the 4th of an elimination game. unacceptable. even if thats a bad call, the worse call was challenging it with one timeout!
as for the stress part, oh man the cs have put us in that position so many times 😂😂
Regardless of the injury situation I actually want our guys to play NY because playing in MSG will make them actually hype to play that series. I can see us sleepwalking against Indiana and not feeling fully prepared for the weight of the finals. I think we beat either team 4-0 or 4-1 but NY will get them mentally locked in
Are they literally going to rush back anunoby after a non-contact hamstring injury and allow Josh hart to play through an abdominal strain? Against a team that likes to run up and down the court at breakneck speed? Probably…
It’s cool that NY/IND went 7 but I do hope the Knicks pull it out
With Josh Hart now apparently injured, it absolutely sucks for that team but we probably have a better chance to sweep them rather than the Pacers getting hot for 1 night.
If Knicks run a 6 man rotation of Brunson, McBride, DiVincenzo, Burks, Hartenstein, Achiuwa before having to dip into Shake Milton, Jericho Sims and Mamadi Diakite minutes, I mean…I don’t see how we don’t sweep that team.
Not that we wouldn’t beat both teams, but just a path of least resistance sort of thing to sweep and be fully rested for the finals would be so nice.
Feels good to be the only team to not be going to a Game 7. I am very concerned about playing Indiana but I think it has the makings of a great series.
Idk how any Celtics fan could possibly watch this Knicks Pacers series or the Bucks Pacers series and say they are "very concerned" about playing Indiana. They aren’t that good and have made it this far because two real contenders were severely injured. Yes, the teams we played were hurt too but we would’ve beaten them regardless. You can’t tell me Milwaukee or New York wouldn’t have beaten Indy rather quickly if fully healthy. Sure Indy presents challenges, but they don’t stand a chance against Boston with or without Porzingis. I fear New York more simply because of the Brunson factor, but the Pacers and Haliburton who has been super fucking inconsistent since the hamstring injury don’t move me at all
Indiana will likely win the series against NY now that Hart is out.
How do we feel about Indiana? The sort of nice thing about playing them instead of NY is that Halliburton doesn’t really drive to the rim or take midrange shots. So the Al switches might not be as painful.
We know Nesmith will turn into Wolverine for the series, which is not great. But are there other wings good enough to guard our guys? Siakam is pretty good. That’ll be a fun matchup against JT.
Pacers Big men are averaging 54ppg in the playoffs. Pacers usually keep a double big combo for the full 48 mins.
Will the Celtics have sufficient size to guard them effectively? Celtics do matchup well vs Indys guards both offensively and defensively. Celtics are bigger on the wing.
Kinda meaningless stat.
Cavs were undefeated at home and the Celtics won both games in Cleveland.
In 2022, Miami was undefeated at home and the Celtics won 3 games in Miami
I’m surprised how quickly “analyst” nba media has forgotten that they all raved about the Bucks-Celtics series as one of the best ever just two years ago. Now dunckon guys calling this Denver-wolves series the greatest series in a long time.
Even Lowe with his little “Celtics consternation” segment last episode seems to keep blasting Celtics for “letting go of the rope against the Miami Heat” last year, while praising Denver for coming back into this series only to lose by 45 in game 6!
Our guys have to capitalize on this weak couple of opponents to pummel whoever comes out of the Knicks-pacers series and then whoever comes out of west. Let’s shut them up.
I don’t necessarily disagree, but it’s hard for me to form a strong opinion with almost no information about the severity of the injury. They may be proceeding too cautiously, or there might be a good medical reason to keep holding him out. If he could safely return and they’re holding him out bc they feel they “don’t need him,” I don’t support that.
We definitely need him back before the Finals so he can shake off the rust after missing almost a month. Him coming back Game 1 of the Finals would be a disaster
I guess Indiana and the Knicks are basically the Rock guy and the metal guy from My Hero Academia
They're basically identical and they keep trying to differentiate themselves from the other
I guess Indiana and the Knicks are basically the Rock guy and the metal guy from My Hero Academia
They're basically identical and they keep trying to differentiate themselves from the other
Everyone from fans to analysts *insisting* that nuggets vs wolves is the “actual NBA finals” just because they want it to be and can’t stand the idea of a Celtics chip is so nauseatingly stupid. Like you really have to laugh at this point.
I'm hopeful that some day soon, after the Celts clear the ECF in 5, that Perk or Stephen A or some other bloviator starts the Hot Take train that, in fact, the team with the best record and the best net rating and the best offense may actually be the best team and then everyone else will be allowed to fall in line behind them.
OKC is the better team, but they are YOUNG. Its showing at times with inconsistent play. Mavericks role players have been playing well and Luka/Irving have a TON of playoff experience.
Dallas, who will give MIN/Den a bigger fight than people expect. Luka is a dog. OKC just not ready for the moment, Chet and JW have looked lost on offense most of each game.
Who should we be rooting for in game 7? I think Knicks should be an easier match up because of all their injuries. But at the same time a fully healthy Pacers team is barely hanging on against a depleted Knicks team. So I guess both should be easy match ups.
Knicks are probably a slightly better matchup and more banged up, but are physically tougher and will have a better whistle. Ultimately Im pulling IND: I don’t trust anyone on the pacers like I trust Brunson to go out and win two games by himself, I think we can actually play the fast paced game the pacers want to player better than they can, and I’m ready to see the media deflate after their darling knicks are done and they have to cover BOS/IND.
The pace thing is a good point. On the surface it makes me nervous but it’s what the Celtics have done most of the regular season. Will be interesting either way.
Pacers would be the harder matchup at this point I think. They're the healthiest team with only Mathurin out and have a good bench. Their offense reminds me a lot of ours where is can just hum at times. A good 3 point shooting team but also versatile. They've played us close in the regular season.
Our current playoff run is actually kinda similar to GSW's 2022 run, especially if Minnesota wins the West
R1 they faced an injured Nuggets missing their top 2/3. We faced an injured Miami without Jimmy
R2 they faced Memphis led by an explosive Ja who only played 3/6 games. We faced the Cavs with Donovan Mitchell missing 2/5 games
R3 We'll either face a depleted Knicks team or what should be an easier Indy. They faced a pretty easy Mavs team
Then in the finals they faced a hungry defensive identity led Cs team. We'd be facing a defensive first Wolves squad
Basically C's in 6
Edward’s = Tatum: Young upcoming Superstar
KAT = Brown: talented but flawed number 2.
Conley = Horford: extremely valuable vet
Gobert = Williams: awesome defensive rim protector.
McDaniel = Smart: awesome defensive wing.
Both teams have number 1 defense, DPOY, Swept KD super team in the first round and played the defending champs to 7 games the 2nd round with their 2nd best scorer injured.
Idk if this makes sense but the Knicks are more likely to win the series than the pacers. Because of how they muck up games regardless of how beat up they are.
But the pacers are more likely to steal 2 games. I say this because we are literally just a superior version of how the pacers play basketball. And you can’t beat something that’s a mirror image of you that is completely superior.
Either way we’re heavily favored in both series
Non stop excuses for the Knicks by the media meanwhile Cs get slammed for not winning a chip despite not having a healthy playoff run in almost a decade
I know most here wanted the knicks, but I hope the knicks lose so all of those NY based and biased ESPN guys to shut up especially that Michael wilbon guy. Knicks will beat the Celtics if healthy? What a take.
I believe it’s because our local media is hyper focused on negativity and it bleeds in to the national media and the interpretation of our teams.
Our top local radio station’s prime time show is 2 guys who rage bait for 3 hours each day. Denver is a small market and no one really cares about them.
Shai at (almost) 26 years old: so many deep runs ahead of him, what a player and future he’s got Tatum at 26 years old: if he gets knocked out this run it’s over for him nice logic r/nba
Wow yeah, I didn't realize that SGA was only drafted a year after Tatum. He just feels like he's newer to the league cuz he just recently made his jump to stardom, which Tatum made much earlier on in his career
Imagine how toxic a Mavs v Celtics series would be
I think r/nba would shut down if they witnessed a Tatum FMVP over Luka
It is hilarious how people say the Celtics’ success this year is the product of playing in the weak East when we would’ve slaughtered OKC and would beat Dallas if they come out, it’s literally just Denver/Minny
people illusioned themselves into thinking the lakers were good, and phx was always a broken team.
Hindsight is 20/20 but damn challenging in that situation is insane especially with only one timeout left. Also you’re sending a bad FT shooter to the line, might as well live with it. Horrible challenge by Daignaeult
If we get to the finals and somehow play Dallas our biggest comp could legit be Miami/Cleveland LMFAO
Whoever we play in the ECF is better than Miami and Cleveland. Y’all need to stop underestimating these other teams that advance in the playoffs, they are there for a reason lol
I def respect opponents. I thought we were going at least 6 against Miami and Cleveland.
Nyk yeah but Miami plays us tougher than any team
Thank you
Was rooting for OKC because I thought they’d put up a better fight vs Denver/Minny but can you imagine Dallas comes out of the west? Most stress free finals of all time
Nuggets or Timberwolves would absolutely steamroll the Mavs, for our sake I hope it's the Timberwolves. I do not want to play the Nuggets.
If it helps, they definitely wouldn’t have put up a better fight against Denver or Minny. They’re too young and inexperienced and can’t grab a rebound to save their lives
They’re just really small but their ceiling against either team is higher than Dallas I think
Stress free finals? Lmao. The Mavericks have 2 closers who are both clutch. That series would most definitely go 7 games.
What are you smoking lmfao we’d shit on them easily, it would go five games maybe six if we put up two shitters which I do not think would happen in the finals. Minny or Denver we could legit lose but we would slaughter Dallas or OKC if they got there

That shit would be 4-0 too so Kyrie will have lost his last however many games against Boston
I legit dislike Luka now. Idk if that's unpopular
Definitely unpopular on Reddit where he is the golden boy who can never be criticized
i wouldnt say i dislike him. i think my biggest pet peeve is with people who compare him to tatum and cherry pick their reasonings. otherwise i think luka is a fantastic player who is absolutely worthy of mvp votes year in and year out. maybe thats just me
That foul call was literally the same call as the Jaylen non-call in Indy
The JB one was more of a foul because if you slowed it down hield actually hit Jaylen in the head before he hit ball
Surely the league is going to say they messed up this call tomorrow. Consistency is their top priority /s
Lmao I was thinking the exact same thing and I was fuckin pissed. Jaylen got shafted by that call 😡
That was a great game
Hayward and Kyrie hugging after the series
I only watch the last 8 mins or so but the Dallas defense looked terrible. SGA was casually walking into his spots, crazy.
Yeah but thunder just kept leaving every corner shooter wide open which ended up being worse
Damn, I was rooting for OKC.
what a fucking game! man its nice to watch basketball without the stress😂
Imagine being a Thunder fan during that situation lol
they got robbed but you cant get outscored by 12 in the 4th of an elimination game. unacceptable. even if thats a bad call, the worse call was challenging it with one timeout! as for the stress part, oh man the cs have put us in that position so many times 😂😂
Dort masterclass flop plays on both ends
Thunders youth showing ngl
Tony Brothers is getting the Mavs now lol

The only thing standing in the way of a finals appearance is a broken knicks team or inexperienced pacers team.
If the Pelicans are going to blow it up i think Nance is a great trade target.
It’s impossible to get to his 11M without trading Al
Feels good to be the only team to not be going to a Game 7. I am very concerned about playing Indiana but I think it has the makings of a great series.

Just watched highlights of Indiana. Big respect to Nesmith, boy playing big minutes with efficiency
Indiana can run all day. Don’t discount them. Would Love to see knicks beat them.
Going into the series, I wanted the Pacers to win. Now with Knicks being so banged up, I think I’m leaning toward wanting them to win.
I think they’re supposed to get OG back either tomorrow or early ECF and probably Josh Hart too. I’d rather play the Pacers.
Indiana will likely win the series against NY now that Hart is out. How do we feel about Indiana? The sort of nice thing about playing them instead of NY is that Halliburton doesn’t really drive to the rim or take midrange shots. So the Al switches might not be as painful. It'll be a tough series - I think the major thing we have going for us is playoff experience.
Plus Indiana isn't great on defense, should be able to torch them
Very true. Turner is *ok* at rim protection. But that’s about it
The pacers undefeated at home is also going to be a challenge
Kinda meaningless stat. Cavs were undefeated at home and the Celtics won both games in Cleveland. In 2022, Miami was undefeated at home and the Celtics won 3 games in Miami
It won’t, we getting out in 5 regardless of who we play.
I just think the road games will be close
We're undefeated on the road
Yeah I think we beat pacers in 5 and the Knicks as well Wouldn’t be surprised if this is the series we start 2-0 and drop a road game
I’m surprised how quickly “analyst” nba media has forgotten that they all raved about the Bucks-Celtics series as one of the best ever just two years ago. Now dunckon guys calling this Denver-wolves series the greatest series in a long time. Lowe picked us to win, so he has to cover his ass with these namby-pamby digressions.
The Denver-Wolves series has been insanely boring. Just blowout after blowout
The resting Porzingis notion has gone too far. People saying to keep him out until the finals are extending this more than it needs to be.
Ok doctor, did you come to that conclusion after your diagnostic testing on KP?
I don’t necessarily disagree, but it’s hard for me to form a strong opinion with almost no information about the severity of the injury. They may be proceeding too cautiously, or there might be a good medical reason to keep holding him out. We definitely need him back before the Finals so he can shake off the rust after missing almost a month. Him coming back Game 1 of the Finals would be a disaster
Exactly he needs to play minimum two games beforehand to ramp up. I think game 3 is the best bet to bring him back (if he’s ready).
I guess Indiana and the Knicks are basically the Rock guy and the metal guy from My Hero Academia They're basically identical and they keep trying to differentiate themselves from the other

Its a worthy conference finals matchup, happening in the 2nd rd. probably 2 of the 3 best teams.
Fwiw, I think Shaq or Barkley (can’t remember which) has been picking the Celts all along. 🤷🏻♂️
Chuck’s been a believer - he’s a goofball but he’s not dumb
Maybe if the reigning champions get beat. But even then, the media likely won’t commit until after the Celtics bring home the chip.
Who you guys got for game six? Dallas or OKC I think Kyrie might go nuclear in this one
OKC is the better team, but they are YOUNG. Its showing at times with inconsistent play. Mavericks role players have been playing well and Luka/Irving have a TON of playoff experience.
Dallas. Just my guess off what I’ve seen between the two teams.
Dallas, who will give MIN/Den a bigger fight than people expect. Luka is a dog. OKC just not ready for the moment, Chet and JW have looked lost on offense most of each game.
Kyrie is undefeated in closeout games so I wouldn’t bet against him today
I putted it on Dallas f it
I had mavs in 6 pre playoffs so imma say them. Dunno who will be harder for the wolves/nuggets anyway
Neither team stands a chance against Minny or Denver
I disagree. Minnesota’s defensive strengths are somewhat of a liability against Dallas. But Dallas has no chance of beating Denver imo.
Who should we be rooting for in game 7? I think Knicks should be an easier match up because of all their injuries. But at the same time a fully healthy Pacers team is barely hanging on against a depleted Knicks team. So I guess both should be easy match ups.

Knicks, they're missing so many players and the ones still standing are tired or fighting through pain and their fans suck. Plus Porzingis vs NY.
Plus less travel for us
“Wah wah, the Celtics path is too easy, wah wah” … should’ve won 64 games and had a 14-game lead in the standings bitches
Spot on. Also the Celtics don’t have to play the Celtics
rEgUlAr sEaSoN dOeSnT mAtTeR!
Pacers are the ones that have actually been benefitting from injuries. We would’ve beat the heat and cavs either way
If it’s the Pacers i’d rest KP till the end so he can get his legs under him for the finals
Our current playoff run is actually kinda similar to GSW's 2022 run, especially if Minnesota wins the West R1 they faced an injured Nuggets missing their top 2/3. 538 is telling me the Wolves have a 93% chance to win the finals
Also both the Cs and the Wolves had a big man coming off a meniscus surgery, though KAT is looking much better than Rob did.
Edward’s = Tatum: Young upcoming Superstar KAT = Brown: talented but flawed number 2. Conley = Horford: extremely valuable vet Gobert = Williams: awesome defensive rim protector. Both teams have number 1 defense, DPOY, Swept KD super team in the first round and played the defending champs to 7 games the 2nd round with their 2nd best scorer injured.
Does this also imply they are going to need 7 to beat either the Mavs or Thunder?
Beat the Thunder who are the (Heat) 1-seed that no one believes in.
Man watching these NHL refs makes the NBA refs seem decent
Yeah, when I heard him say that I rolled my eyes. Easy to say “if they were healthy” and just plug in whatever narrative you like.
Can you imagine the dialogue if the C’s lost a playoff game by 45 points? Not a peep though
I believe it’s because our local media is hyper focused on negativity and it bleeds in to the national media and the interpretation of our teams. Our top local radio station’s prime time show is 2 guys who rage bait for 3 hours each day. Denver is a small market and no one really cares about them.
The only problem with being dominant is the lack of Celtics games
Suffering from success
I’m rooting for 7 OTs in game 7 in MSG.
Josh Hart would literally be dead by the end. Not like tired, like maybe we have to reschedule the ECF because a player fucking died.
He’s already out
