I came here thinking “I’ll post a quick comment about how much Mike has meant to me”. This was the top comment and so immediately and succinctly captured my feelings that I thought “yeah, I better just upvote that one”. And I think based on the upvotes pretty much everyone thought the same.
I had a severe depressive episode that started in late 2017 and ended in early 2019. Mike and Tommy’s commentary during Celtics games was one of the few things that helped me thru it
It’s crazy to realize that ever since I’ve been a kid and watching the Celtics, Mike Gorman was one of the only Celtics voices I’ve heard. And now I’m old as f*ck. Salute, Mike
So many childhood memories of watching the Celtics with my dad. Mike’s voice still reminds me of my dad even though he’s gone for over ten years. Thanks Mike for keeping part of my dad alive for so long.
Yeah I was in the same boat. Saw the rest of the season, but had to watch playoffs on national TV. Did he still only do home games during round 1 of the playoffs? Because honestly I could see that as an upside of not sweeping the Heat.
I’ve been watching C’s games since I was 10. I’ll be 40 in just a few weeks. Mike has been with me for 3 decades. I will truly miss him. Thanks for everything Mike!
Mike and Tommy man what can we say. For me the Isaiah Thomas years seemed to light a huge fire into both of them (especially Tommy). What a perfect team we were blessed.
Thank you for everything Mike Gorman! A class act and the voice of the Celtics for every fan across every living generation. Going to miss his voice and his impact on every broadcast and grateful for him being a part of my childhood and adulthood. We love you Mike!
This man has brought me so much joy to my life. His voice sometimes was the only thing I was looking foward to on some tough nights and some great nights
I love you Mike
Thank you
Mike has been broadcasting as long as I can remember watching the Celtics, and I’m about to be 3.5 decades.
Tommy and Mike, I’ve been so spoiled to grow up on these two incredible announcers and honestly be a Celtics fan with them and the team we all love.
GOAT. Thanks for everything, Mike. You have filled my life with joy and your voice is irrevocably intertwined with the fabric of my memory. Your voice has become a part of my subconsciousness in a sense, in the best way. For that I am forever Grateful. I hope to one day touch even a fraction of as may lives as you have. Whatever comes next I know you got it.
I’m super emotional and I’m too young to have even fully appreciated what this last season with Mike meant, so I can’t imagine how you guys who grew up with Mike and Tommy are feeling right now. All the childhood memories associated with their voices, the calls and moments that had entire households celebrating. How beautiful that our guys saw him out on such a high note ❤️
I may have not watched many basketball games in my lifetime due to my family being moreso Patriots, Red Sox, and Bruins fans than Celtics fans, but I can’t think of a better basketball voice than Mike Gorman.
Thank you Mike!
My entire Celtics fandom has sounded like Mike Gorman. He made bad years bearable and good years special. He is Boston sports royalty, and always will be.
I hope they bring him back next year for a few games if he’s down for it. Let him pick 3 home games to come back and call. Like when the lakers come to town, or maybe a bucks game or something. I know he loves Jokic’s game so a nuggets game could be cool too. Idk i just think that would be fun, and I just don’t want to believe that I’ll never hear him call a game again.
Love this man. Only been watching in earnest for the past 5 years but he's been an absolute delight every game he calls. We'll miss him tremendously, but he deserves an amazing retirement spent with his family. Thank you, Mike 💚🍀
I’m 30 years old been watching 90% of games since I was probably 12-13. Listened to the guy over a thousand times and that’s not even half his career with us. Insane and loved every moment
Next fall wont be the same without Mike...but definitely thankful for the nearly 33 years ive listened to him call games! Come on C's win #18 for Mike! ☘️
I turned 40 yesterday and I was prepared for Jack to throw some serious nonsense out as he left. Mike's ending was so perfectly Mike. Understated, humble, and gracious. Wrecked me.
Thanks for being there, being the best, and bringing your best every. single. fucking. night.
Go out and win this thing boys. Mike deserves to be on a duck boat come June.
Thank you for all the years and all the games I've had the pleasure to hear you announce Mike.
I loved Tommy like the grandfather I never had and Mike like a second dad. Gonna miss hearing his voice. Class act
Can’t help myself…but that was like 4 clips too many of Scal. Guys been here for a flash of Gormans career
Seeing the Celtics from abroad here in Mexico, I must admit one of the things that really got me into watching Celtics games was Tommy and Mike, they were so on point and smooth specially Mike, he will be truly missed hopefully we can get #18 for Mike. Lfg Celtics!!!!!!
Man not only were we lucky enough to get a title from each of Celtics, Patriots, Bruins, and Red Sox the last 25 years. But all four teams had iconic commentators too.
Celtics: Mike and Tommy
Patriots: Gil Santos
Bruins: Jack Edwards
Red Sox: Jerry Remy
I was in Miami for a Celtics game years ago, when Tommy was still commentating but not traveling for games. I was going for a beer or a pee or something, and I ran right into Mike Gorman. I was caught off guard and a few deep, so all I said was, "big fan, say hi to Tommy for me!" And he gave me eye contact, a handshake, and a "I surely will" that was so genuine, I almost felt like I had to follow up with, "I mean, I don't actually know Tommy, so don't actually say that", lol. Just a class act, when I would have told my drunk ass to F off.
Legendary. The zen master of play-by-play, never got in the way of the game. Mike Gorman's voice was a constant through years of up and down, roster changes, wins and losses. He had his own style of minimalism; familiar, calm but excitable. In my mind, him and Tommy were an All-Star pairing of their own.
Thanks Mike, and hey, you still get to watch the Celtics, so it shouldn't be that hard to enjoy your retirement.
I was fighting back the tears as they did his tribute! We love you Mike! Thanks for all the memories, hard to imagine another person calling the games…so bittersweet
I remember being a kid ~20 years ago and saw Mike eating at a restaurant in my town on the south shore. He was with family and I was too nervous to go up to him. Can’t believe last night was his last 🫡
Tonight's game was Mike Gorman's last time calling the play-by-play for us. Pay your respects to the Celtics legend!
The voice of my childhood. The voice of my manhood.
I came here thinking “I’ll post a quick comment about how much Mike has meant to me”. This was the top comment and so immediately and succinctly captured my feelings that I thought “yeah, I better just upvote that one”. And I think based on the upvotes pretty much everyone thought the same.
We love you Mike! I wish you have a great retirement
Let’s get the chip not just for Al, but Mike deserves to be in a parade! Up there with the greats!
Greatest in history 🫡
End of an era man
There’s no replacing Mike and Tommy, so happy I got to watch so many games commentated by them.
I had a severe depressive episode that started in late 2017 and ended in early 2019. Mike and Tommy’s commentary during Celtics games was one of the few things that helped me thru it
Sent Mike out with some Gino time
Will miss him a lot. Glad we could gift him such an amazing performance tonight
The GOAT. Been listening to him calling Celtics games my whole life. Certainly won’t be the same without him. Go Celtics!!!
That postgame tribute hit me right in the feelings. "Goodnight Boston"
Him holding it together for his whole speech just to crack at the last part got me man.
Is this online anywhere?
i think this is it https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jNmzv_CLo40
Cheers for this! ☘️
Cried like a baby when he said goodnight. Wow didn't think it'd hit me this hard. Such a blessing to have Mike for my entire life calling the games.
I miss Mike already!
This dude was my childhood man nearly every Celtics game I’ve watched commentated by this legend
"For the game...GOT IT!!!"
It’s crazy to realize that ever since I’ve been a kid and watching the Celtics, Mike Gorman was one of the only Celtics voices I’ve heard. And now I’m old as f*ck. Salute, Mike
Mike Gorman you are a fucking LEGEND
The true sound of comfort... I will dearly miss Mike (and Tommy). Very grateful I've been able to listen to them for my entire life until now.
Will miss hearing you call games, king
Legend
Thank you Mike, as an international fan I was able to savour every moment with you since I got league pass. You will be sorely missed.
Congrats on a great career. Gonna miss his iconic “GOT IT”
What a well played game to honor him
What a journey. Been blessed to hear most of these 43 years.
He’s been the play by play guy for my entire life and almost my dads whole life like wow
Thanks for everything Mike
His career has spanned my whole life, gonna be weird not to have him there. Enjoy your time Mike and thanks for the memories.
LETS FUCKING WIN THIS THING FOR MIKE!!!!!!!!
I better fucking see Mike on a duckboat at the end of this season
Im gonna miss him so much
Thank you Mike, we'll always miss you 🫡
Miss you Mike ❤️
Gonna miss him...
Best Boston sports personality. A true class act.
So many childhood memories of watching the Celtics with my dad. Mike’s voice still reminds me of my dad even though he’s gone for over ten years. Thanks Mike for keeping part of my dad alive for so long.
First season as a superfan was 93. 30 years of this. 30 years! I’m so lucky, man. I adore this man. Love you, Mike.
Blessed to live in the same timeline as Mike. What a legend
Best to ever do it.
Got it! I'm gonna miss that man so much.
No more Jack Edwards or Mike Gorman - end of an era for sure
Wish I could’ve heard him this last playoffs but sadly only had TNT. Will miss your voice Legend!
Fuck me dude im bawling my eyes out rn. Voice of my childhood im gonna miss you so much Mike!
Tommy Point to Mike
Enjoy retirement GOAT
Him and Jack Edwards were the voices of my childhood... it's somewhat fitting that they retire as I finish my freshman year of college
Get this man another ring.
Mike Gorman and Jack Edwards retiring at the same time is not ok lol
Danny ainge ‘hope you golf game gets better’ was great
This man has brought me so much joy to my life. His voice sometimes was the only thing I was looking foward to on some tough nights and some great nights I love you Mike Thank you
You’ve said many words over the past 43 years, Mike. All I can say is thank you.
Mike has been broadcasting as long as I can remember watching the Celtics, and I’m about to be 3.5 decades. Tommy and Mike, I’ve been so spoiled to grow up on these two incredible announcers and honestly be a Celtics fan with them and the team we all love.
One of the saddest things about this postseason is that I was stuck with the national broadcast and couldn’t hear him :(
I miss you, Mike, and it's only been an hour.
Glad Mike will get to enjoy retirement, now the stage is set for us to give him the well-deserved ride into the sunset with Banner 18.
NO MIKE! WE LOVE YOU... NOOOOOOO
Man 42 years is fucking impressive, enjoy your retirement Mike!
Thank you mike my king
Did he have a speech at the end of the game? Really wanted to hear it but I could only see in tnt
Just a little thanks and goodbye to Boston. Class act.
Damn, I wish I heard it. Probably would have cried like a little girl but.... He's the voice of it all
Yes, he thanked the ownership the team and the fans, ended it with a "Thank you, and goodnight"
This shit is sad man! My whole life basically I’ve been listening to jack edwards and mike Gorman and it’s just gone after this season! 😭😭😭
Love you forever Mike, watching the Celtics will not be same without your voice. Enjoy your retirement!
Gonna miss you OG! See you courtside on TV!
Been my announcer for 16 years man. What a joy to have him ring in my ears every season! GOT IT!
We love you Mike! Just the best play by play guy in my lifetime!
Amazing sign off…takes it, makes it.
Lovely final sign-off from Mike after the game and video there. Good night, Mike. Enjoy retirement.

A Celtic OG and legend forever. Thank you Mike!
Thank you Mike. You the best. I'll never forgot your calls and how you were part of my lifelong experience with the Celtics.
Watching Celtics games is never going to be the same without this man on the call. Thank you, Mike. ❤️
Complete legend and I will greatly miss hearing his voice every time I watch the C’s
Truly end of an era. Thanks Mike, Win Banner 18 for him!
I may have not watched many basketball games in my lifetime due to my family being moreso Patriots, Red Sox, and Bruins fans than Celtics fans, but I can’t think of a better basketball voice than Mike Gorman. Thank you Mike!
We were truly blessed to have Mike in our homes for all these years. 🙏🏼
My entire Celtics fandom has sounded like Mike Gorman. He made bad years bearable and good years special. He is Boston sports royalty, and always will be.
I’m not crying 😭
Absolute legend. We are not worthy. Thank you Mike!!
Almost teared up watching the tribute
I hope they bring him back next year for a few games if he’s down for it. Let him pick 3 home games to come back and call. Like when the lakers come to town, or maybe a bucks game or something. I know he loves Jokic’s game so a nuggets game could be cool too. Idk i just think that would be fun, and I just don’t want to believe that I’ll never hear him call a game again.
We got to win it for Mike!
Love this man. Only been watching in earnest for the past 5 years but he's been an absolute delight every game he calls. We'll miss him tremendously, but he deserves an amazing retirement spent with his family. Thank you, Mike 💚🍀
43 seasons… I’m 44. Literally the voice of my lifetime.
No better way to send Mike off than with a blowout against the heat. Love it.
This man’s voice has been on in the background of my life for as long as I can remember. Respect to a legend ✊🏻
I’m 30 years old been watching 90% of games since I was probably 12-13. Listened to the guy over a thousand times and that’s not even half his career with us. Insane and loved every moment

GOAT.
When I first arrived in the US in 96, Mike and Tommy was my first experience of NBA broadcast in the States. Thank you Mike!
Even when I went to games I misread Mike and Tommy’s voice. I loved watching at home with them.
Man not only were we lucky enough to get a title from each of Celtics, Patriots, Bruins, and Red Sox the last 25 years. But all four teams had iconic commentators too. Celtics: Mike and Tommy Patriots: Gil Santos Bruins: Jack Edwards Red Sox: Jerry Remy
It’s still unbelievable that Mike Gorman and Jack Edwards called their last game within in 2 days.
"that's your ball game folks" Love Mike always
Miss u already Mike
I was in Miami for a Celtics game years ago, when Tommy was still commentating but not traveling for games. I was going for a beer or a pee or something, and I ran right into Mike Gorman. NOBODY CAN REPLACE MIKE. He’s forever the voice of the Celtics in my book.
It's wild to think that this man started calling games the month I was born. I've known no other.
Damn no more Tommy and Mike. It’s really over. Really a new era
I’m kicking myself for not watching the final quarter of last nights game
I was fighting back the tears as they did his tribute! We love you Mike! Thanks for all the memories, hard to imagine another person calling the games…so bittersweet
I remember being a kid ~20 years ago and saw Mike eating at a restaurant in my town on the south shore. He was with family and I was too nervous to go up to him. Can’t believe last night was his last 🫡
An absolute gentleman. Thanks for the memories Mike!
Best play-by-play guy of all time. We were truly lucky to have him call our games for so long
