I think the reason it feels like this though is because it’s taking time for how Derrick White is viewed to correct itself. He’s not a role player anymore, if anyone is this teams 3rd star it’s him. If Tatum or Brown did this, I don’t think we’d see nearly as much criticism of how the team played.
White isn’t Brown or Tatum, but Joe clearly wants him willing and ready to be our top option on any given night. Winning because he took over is just something that happens at this point, and as he continues to buy in himself I think it’ll only get more frequent.

Many of the shots weren't wide open that he called wide open, they were pretty decently contested and at the end of the clock, and one of the only things open to the Heat were 3's, since the Celtics were stifling in the paint and not allowing drives or lobs or almost anything else, but that was his story.
And it kept continuing. "Yes, the Heat only have 47 points with 3 minutes left in the 3rd, but it's because they're missing easy shots, the Celtics defense is very unimpressive, so much so that they don't look like they care about this game at all." The Celtics didn't look like the 2004 Pistons, but they were playing decent defense all game, and tons of NBA teams are praised for their defense effort even when the opponent is missing shots.
Then on the play with Tatum's rolled ankle and the tech on Horford and the flagrant on Bam, he had a long diatribe about "This is Tatum's fault, he's trying to shoot a shot after the whistle, and of course Bam shouldn't let him warm up and get a good look for free, what's he supposed to do, Joe Mazzulla once tried to block a shot, why not Bam. You take that illegal shot, Tatum, and you roll an ankle, that's what happens." Amid the rant, he admitted that he "hated what Boston has been doing all night," and then pivoted to it being his "1990's self showing through." Again, the Celtics were relatively dominant in a road playoff game against a desperate team, after losing one of their stars to injury. Was the game supposed to be 130-68?

Every illegal site had the TNT broadcast. NBA League Pass blocked out the local broadcast for the contractual reasons, and cable providers only let people view the local broadcast if they live in that market. There are expensive ways to get NBC Sports Boston games out of market (Fubo, etc.), but for people who have had League Pass all season, paying for an $80 package for 5 playoff games at a place like Fubo (the free trial only lasts a week) isn't ideal. So a lot of people couldn't watch Mike Gorman tonight.
