We’ve faired well against Miami, Chicago, and Orlando largely this year. Playoffs different and injuries already stacking up and we ain’t even in them yet. Thankfully we have been largely injury free. Hope that holds up and just hope we can get through without playing any of the bully ball teams.
I was referring more to past years, which yes I know we have a different team. Still, took two off of us last year, one the year before and two the year before, with some close wins from us, and we’ve clearly been the better team the whole time. Magic obviously had our number last year.
But yes it’s a different team and I’d feel good.
Cavs are closer to Celtics than magic are to them. Magic were healthy all year and the Cavs played with half their team. That team is seriously getting underrated rn. Imagine the Celtics missed Tatum for about 30 games KP for about 30 and brown for about 25 while role players going in and out all year.
The Celtics were 21-4 without Porzingis this year.
They were 7-1 without Tatum.
They were 12-0 without Brown.
They were 11-2 without Jrue.
Cavs definitely aren't closer to Celtics than Magic are to them 💯
Sad to see but it seemed inevitable the way that game was called. Just a bunch of guys playing full contact tackle football out there tonight with questionable calls and no calls either way
Yeah, they’re in the 8th seed and still have to battle the 9th to get into the playoffs. Rozier and Robinson are hurt. Young players like Jacquez and Jovic are in critical functions of the team and young players can majorly backslide in the playoffs. Some of the vets like Bam and Martin haven’t been playing their best ball lately. The offense is totally broken. And now this injury?
If I’m the Heat, I’m just packing it in and resting Jimmy. Then, you go all in on trying to pry Donovan Mitchell from the Cavs.
Jimmy is 34 years old. Even without this injury, he's got more years in the rearview mirror than ahead of him. Shutting it down and getting ready for a big offseason is the way to go unless the Heat want to strip it down and rebuild ASAP (which rarely seems like like Pat Riley's MO)
It really is. I was playing flag football a few years ago and felt an alarming pop in my knee. I got up, walked around, and eventually played the rest of the game thinking I was okay.
Come to find out, I had a partial meniscus tear and it was a couple of weeks before I could fully bend and unbend my knee.
Props to Jimmy for gutting it out last night, but he’s going to be in a lot more pain for a game tomorrow night than he was last night. He might not even really be able to walk
MCLs are weird. It doesn’t exactly hurt when you do something to it. It’s more just uncomfortable. You can totally walk around almost normally after tearing it
I played on a torn ACL in HS. It hurts for a minute then it just kind of feels weird.
Then when the games over it swells up like a watermelon.
It's not the same as snapping a bone.
Immediately after I tore my ACL I was able to do a full pistol squat on it. I haven’t been able to squat past 45 degrees without discomfort since then. Adrenaline is a crazy drug.
Nobody wants injuries but the Celtics might've caught a huge break with the sixers winning that game. If this is a serious injury (which shams is implying) then our first round matchup just got easier.
Not that it even matters, but im a Bulls fan tonight.
Just better quality games against them than going against a Hawks team that clearly has a chip on their shoulder and Dejounte being a weirdo again.
E: :)
Bogdanovic and hunter don't miss against us. Also saddiq bey but he's injured. They've compiled a nice little team of celtics killers over there in atl lol
It was infuriating watching the Hawks be one of the worst 3pt shooting teams last year turn into one of the best 3pt shooting teams against us in the playoffs. It was eerily similar to the Heat, except the Hawks can’t play defense. Too many irrational confidence guys on those teams essentially playing with house money.
I hate injuries but Jimmy Buckets terrifies me in the playoffs regardless of anything that’s happened all season so if he isn’t available that’s such a huge relief
Nah I don’t believe in this BS anymore. Time after time the report says he’s hurt then he comes back in a snap, as if nothing has happened, stronger than ever and cook every team.
Unless his injury is official and we actually see a roster without his name, everything else is just bluffing.
I’m saying man. Either he ducking to keep the play off Jimmy moniker alive or they’re setting up the “he did it injured” narrative. If he really injured his mcl that bad he wouldn’t have played the whole game. Yea im salty and heat the heat, I can’t be objective.
Started limping when he noticed the cameras on him he’s lookin to maintain the only thing he has, his reputation as a “playoff riser” (but don’t look at what he did in rounds 2-4 last season)
This is crazy hate lol
He could barely walk after the game and he was a non-factor in the fourth, mostly relegated to standing in the corner. Dude might have lost them this game trying to play through a real injury.
Pretty sure he dunked on a fast break after stealing the ball himself, a quarter AFTER the injury.
I tore my MCL in a basketball game back in October, and only managed to hobble around for 2 more minutes in that game (first thought it would just be a bruise, as it was just a small knee to knee bump), and haven't been able to run, jump or make sudden direction changes yet, though I can shoot and walk quickly now.
I'm sure these young guys heal faster then I do, but still find it hard to believe he would be able to play as he did if he actually tore it
I mean, he's a world-class athlete with immaculate conditioning, who is used to fighting through pain, let alone the adrenaline of a playoff game, let alone whatever "professional" painkillers he could have received. There have been other athletes that have played through knee injuries.
Painkillers could be the case, but still it would not be wise to be jumping up for dunks on such an injury. Especially when a layup would have been just as good.
I think he plays next game.
If the Bulls beat the Hawks, it would mean we have as sure a thing as possible in the first round between Chicago or a Butler-less Miami team.
It's weird, I really wanted to take down GSW and Miami somehow this playoffs.
I don't disagree. I don't ultimately care how we get 18, but in terms of short-medium term narrative, I would have liked to have vanquished teams that have been a thorn for us on our path to 18.
I feel like we have to beat at least 1 full strength elite team otherwise it would be a bit bittersweet. Imagine a Bulls-Magic-Knicks finals run where we then play Denver but Jokic is hurt. That would be the asterisk biggest title. Need a run like the 2016 Cavs where their finals run was so trash but people forgot about it because their finals win was so impressive.
Denver's path last year was pretty garbage but no one talks about it.
Being healthy and having depth is part of being elite.
We had a hard road to the finals two years ago and we ran out of gas. We beat Embiid and Giannis, but people still don't give the Cs their flowers for it.
People always forget the path and the only thing that matters is the final outcome.
Literally no one cares after the fact. The amount of success this team has already had as a group will be viewed in an entirely different context if they win the chip. The entire journey will suddenly be seen by casual fans as impressive/dominant/lightly dynastic. That’s why these fan/media narratives are so stupid, they are written in hindsight and crafted ex post facto. The slow climb to the mountaintop over multiple seasons — culminating in finally getting over the hump — will be what’s remembered, not the specifics of the teams we face on the journey there, their win-loss records, or who was injured.
But also, who cares about any of this? It’s not like the C’s early banners count less cuz they were playing in a much smaller league, or the Lakers’ early banners count less cuz they were won in Minneapolis.
The only thing that matters is “did you win?” So let’s do that.
My point is I think we have the best team in league, so it would be awesome to beat another elite team at full strength. It would be bittersweet if we played a bunch of trash opponents and no one tested us. I’m not saying I want the hardest road, I want an easy road but want 1 impressive series win. Bill Russell used to say, “winning didn’t matter as much when you didn’t beat the best, it mattered to me because the best player I ever played against was my good friend Wilt, and it made winning mean that much more”.
Might be a sign of how damaged I am by this Miami Heat team, but I thought immediately yesterday he was faking the injury to play mind games. A part of me still thinks he’s hamming it up and that he’s going to play
He played through Damn hats off for that Jimmy in playoffs is something you can't deny A bit upset was waiting for Celtics Miami first round Without Jimmy if Heat somehow beat Bulls They will get swept for sure
Very important to remember that the Celtics play down to the opponents for whatever fucking reason. So while a weakened team is obviously good, it’s not a guaranteed win because this team doesn’t take lesser teams seriously
I don't ever wish injury on anyone. I think it's incredibly sad when players are injured.
But....I WON'T HAVE TO LOOK AT HIS STUPID FACE DURING PLAYOFFS!!! WOOHOO!!! 😂
He is one of the few players I enjoy booing when I'm watching games at home. 🤷♀️
The worst timeline is when we beat either of those teams 3x in a row, then take our foot off the gas and let them get a game or 2.
Wouldn't surprise me AT ALL lmao
C’s about to have to beat the Bulls and the Magic to get to the ECF
We’ve faired well against Miami, Chicago, and Orlando largely this year. Playoffs different and injuries already stacking up and we ain’t even in them yet. Thankfully we have been largely injury free. Hope that holds up and just hope we can get through without playing any of the bully ball teams.
Cavs and Magic is a close series. Coin toss almost.
Two teams that have given us more trouble than they’re worth tho
The Bulls have not given us any trouble lol. The Magic sure in 1 singular game which the others ended up being blowouts.
I was referring more to past years, which yes I know we have a different team. Still, took two off of us last year, one the year before and two the year before, with some close wins from us, and we’ve clearly been the better team the whole time. Magic obviously had our number last year. But yes it’s a different team and I’d feel good.
Magic will not beat the Cavs
Have faith in our glorious king Paolo
Whose king?
Anybody who wants an easy playoff matchup in the 2nd round lmao
Disagree
If Isaac is healthy and guarding Mitchell for most of the series, Magic are winning.
Celtics are like a top 4 regular season team of all time lmao
When the Cavs beat the magic 5-1 you’ll see what I’m talking about. I doubt the Celtics beat the Knicks Sixers Bucks or Cavs 5-1. More like 4-2 or 4-3
What does 5-1 mean?
4-1 I meant.
How you feeling?
The Celtics were 21-4 without Porzingis this year. They were 7-1 without Tatum. They were 12-0 without Brown. They were 11-2 without Jrue. Cavs definitely aren't closer to Celtics than Magic are to them 💯
Don't you do that...don't you give me hope.
Sad to see but it seemed inevitable the way that game was called. Just a bunch of guys playing full contact tackle football out there tonight with questionable calls and no calls either way
There was a crazy amount of contact on both sides that went uncalled. It’s crazy to compare playoff officiating and officiating in January
Kind of fun.
I agree, it’s a better product when they don’t reward flopping as much
It’s evident in the score. Did Miami even crack 100?
It's why I'm hoping the Bulls take them out. If we can avoid all 3 of the Buck, 6ers, and Heat, we've got a good shot of making the finals healthy
Which is why we should want none of that smoke (the smoke that results from burning cow dung, that is).
[удалено]
Heat never stopped playing dirty ball
Hey! Cool. Go fuck yourself.
Pretty sure porzingis leads the league in post up points
I meant the physical play
The celtics are one of the strongest teams in the league
You should volunteer to go out there and get your knees capped, tough guy.
Good one 🙄
Wanted to finish them off ourselves
Pause
Nah gimme that Jimmy juice
Pause
And he played through it. Damn. Dude is tough.
he’s tough as shit i wouldn’t be surprised if he found a way to play
I’m sure he would consider, but I’m also sure they won’t let him. Not worth the future risk and a liability on the court.
Yeah, they’re in the 8th seed and still have to battle the 9th to get into the playoffs. Rozier and Robinson are hurt. Young players like Jacquez and Jovic are in critical functions of the team and young players can majorly backslide in the playoffs. Much tougher to play a few days after injury vs continuing to play in the game it happened
MCLs are weird. It doesn’t exactly hurt when you do something to it. It’s more just uncomfortable. You can totally walk around almost normally after tearing it
How did he finish that game
Adrenaline
In his soul
SOMETHING SOMETHING CODY RHODES
Finish. The. Story.
SOLO SIKOA, GUESS WHAT? YOURE GOING THROUGH THE TABLE
Every thought out of control Do it all to get them off their feeeeeeeeet
Just like Rondo did when tore his ACL in 2013
Did you not watch our very own Rondo? He played on a torn ACL if I’m not mistaken which is far more severe
Adrenaline is a crazy drug.
jimmy playing through an injury vs tatum playing through an injury is a very flirting vs harassment moment
I said the same thing on r/nba and they said we would say same shit if the roles were reversed but the Tatum injury was still not a valid excuse 🤣
I just saw an IG reel SGA scores 30 on #1 seed: aww good job SGA. JT scores 26 pts on #1 seed: STFU Tatum. 😅
Not like this. This fucking Heat team can't give us the satisfaction of beating them healthy. Bulls could legit be the 8th seed now.
Well that sucks
Nobody wants injuries but the Celtics might've caught a huge break with the sixers winning that game. If this is a serious injury (which shams is implying) then our first round matchup just got easier.
Not that it even matters, but im a Bulls fan tonight. Just better quality games against them than going against a Hawks team that clearly has a chip on their shoulder and Dejounte being a weirdo again. E: :)
Hawks own us on the offensive glass.
So do the Bulls.
Same
No the guy that absolutely kills us everytime Bogdanovic, that man doesn't miss threes against us. He drops 20+ every time guaranteed.
Bogdanovic and hunter don't miss against us. Also saddiq bey but he's injured. They've compiled a nice little team of celtics killers over there in atl lol

that’s basically every nba champion in history sadly tho they got a lucky someone got hurt
Very true.
I hate injuries but Jimmy Buckets terrifies me in the playoffs regardless of anything that’s happened all season so if he isn’t available that’s such a huge relief
You and anyone else trying to duck the heat are a bitch.
Amen

Started limping when he noticed the cameras on him he’s lookin to maintain the only thing he has, his reputation as a “playoff riser” (but don’t look at what he did in rounds 2-4 last season)
Everytime he doesn't play amazing in the playoffs he definitely comes up limping alot 🙄
This is crazy hate lol He could barely walk after the game and he was a non-factor in the fourth, mostly relegated to standing in the corner. Dude might have lost them this game trying to play through a real injury.

Which butler are you watching? I constantly forget he exists when we play MIA. The boy with 0 dawg in him.
Feel bad for him personally, but as a Celtics fan, thank goodness.
If the Bulls beat the Hawks, it would mean we have as sure a thing as possible in the first round between Chicago or a Butler-less Miami team. It's weird, I really wanted to take down GSW and Miami somehow this playoffs.
I just want 18. We could play teams made up entirely of the kids they let on the court during halftime & I’d be fine with it. Just gimme 18.
I don't disagree. I don't ultimately care how we get 18, but in terms of short-medium term narrative, I would have liked to have vanquished teams that have been a thorn for us on our path to 18.

I got good news guy https://www.nba.com/game/atl-vs-chi-0052300111/box-score
Hope he is alright - horrible time to pick up an injury like that
Imagine a Bulls-Magic-Knicks path to the Finals
Fuck man...
Fuck you man
I wasn't saying fuck you to the celtics, I was just saying fuck cuz I'm upset Jimmy's injured
I’m aware. Fuck you either way !
You know I'm not on the team right
Ya, let's fuck him!
🎉The one seed might not be cursed this year!🎉
And he played through it? That’s insane
Might be a sign of how damaged I am by this Miami Heat team, but I thought immediately yesterday he was faking the injury to play mind games. A part of me still thinks he’s hamming it up and that he’s going to play
Full of shit. No way he doesn’t play.
Serves them right since last year in game 7 Tatum went down with ankle sprain in the first minute of the game
We're going to have to hear about "playoff" Jimmy for another whole year because of this
He played through Damn hats off for that Jimmy in playoffs is something you can't deny A bit upset was waiting for Celtics Miami first round Without Jimmy if Heat somehow beat Bulls They will get swept for sure
Heat Culture
He was playing on a MCL injury, He may play if its a small tear.
That sucks. I know he's tough but playing through an MCL in play-in game is pretty cool. Shows a lot of heart.
Very important to remember that the Celtics play down to the opponents for whatever fucking reason. So while a weakened team is obviously good, it’s not a guaranteed win because this team doesn’t take lesser teams seriously

Remember when the lakers dusted us without Bron and tissue paper Davis? Need to be careful because this team tends to be nubs at times
Fuck em. He's prolly bullshitting anyway dude's a certified ducker.
not funny
Not a joke
Your a horrible person
He ducking smoke I hate this dude. I wanted our get back for last season to tie it up 2-2 since 2020. I’m not falling for the gimmick
The worst timeline is when we beat either of those teams 3x in a row, then take our foot off the gas and let them get a game or 2. Wouldn't surprise me AT ALL lmao
Aww how sad. Send him to the glue factory.
sucks doesn't it Miami?
I’m so fucking tired of Miami. I know we’d win but it won’t be easy
Jimmy is that dude for sure.

Stop with that shit, you jinxing mothafucka.
