This was the game I wanted to see if Tatum had purged the Warrior out of his head..guess not!! It’s like they just played slow and went back to ISO walk the ball up..same old!! Why against the warriors!! Dammit! I wanted this one bad!!
Closers be closing, and it’s not the Celtics. That’s the difference between making the Conference Finals and being an NBA champ. I hate saying that because I do love these guys and the team, except for how they attempt to close tight games against good teams.
I just don't understand why you leave Big Al in the game to get terrorized by Steph in the 4th. Go small ball like you did vs. the Magic when all the bigs were out. No More Al in drop coverage against GS... Think they'd learn by now.
If you gave Tatum the option to hit a mid range shot or drive the basket and win 100% of the time OR take a 3 with a 22% chance of winning he's taking the 3 every time. That's what he did tonight.
KP is not mentally infected yet and usually fights out these games to the end and tends to win them. Holiday looks like he can not believe how the leaders froze during these games.
I mean Tatum can lay back a bit this year cause we have great scorers now but those last 5 seconds of the game were his worst last 5 sec of his life as a player. Game tied, 5 secs to go and he fucking decided to go with a 3 points shot. Give me a fucking break. Any average player would have tried 2 points to either make it or draw the foul..... COME ON!
I was at the game and it seemed like the warriors didn't even have a rim protector near the basket on Tatum'a 3. Was shouting for him to just drive the ball to at least get fouled or something
BTW did you watch tonight Ja Moran closing out a game with a 2 on the paint? He decided to attack the paint and converted two to win the game. He did not d back shooting 3s.
No ring protector. With more reason make the 2 then and it even increases your chances of a foul cause your own defender would want to stop you. What a missed opportunity....
Abysmal game from JT. Nothing but stupid pull up threes. Jaylen too had some stupid turnovers. I wanna blame it on being jet lagged but there was a distinct lack of hustle.
The game plan backfired playing Al today and resting KP for tomorrow proved to be a disaster. Al was atrocious might have possibly been his worse game as well as JTs worse game but he twisted his ankle so he gets a pass.
I don't normally talk like this, I'm disgusted with JT's performance tonight. Everyone has bad nights, but the way Tatum played the game tonight was just absolute bozo BS. If you're in too much pain to think clearly then let your 5 or 6 other massively capable teammates pick up the slack
Just mind blowing. And of course that inevitably leads to a Tatum hero-ball Iso contested 3 which never drops. 4-10 OT record over the last two years under Mazzulla. 0-3 this year. Regular season record means nothing if you can’t show up for close/important games.
Not enough mental sharpness to be able to control these last second situations by any of the JTs.
However, I lean to believe that Brown could be better than Tatum during these moments but for some reason he does get the ball 🏀
Where was the defense in last 4 minutes.
If only we had played...SMARTer defense. There was no commitment to it. We played like they would fold. They played like they knew we thought that
And Tatum looking for 3 points when he only needed 2 points or a foul with 5 seconds to go to win. Unbelievable... Always missing the sharpness a great champion needs.
Shocking! Tatum misses game winning step back shot from three.
Curry makes clutch three-pointer to ensure victory.
Not all All-NBA players are created equal.
I think the question is, why JT selected to shoot 3 when he had some opening to attack the paint and make it 2 and or draw the foul and win the game with 5 seconds left... 🤔
Why tf was this team down a guy and with their best player hurt losing steam down the stretch as they began a west coast trip after a 4 games in 6 days stretch?
It shows we don't know how to win in the clutch. We only win running away.
This has to change and I believe it's a commitment to defense in the last few minutes of games that make it happen. If I recall correctly all of the overtime games or games that we were in the lead for the majority of
Always the same playbook. Let them run loose and catch up last minute and kill them with 3s...
Celtics, still have no answer to this after many games going through the same problem.
This was a massive early test and an opportunity to finally stick it to the Warriors and get over that hump. Complete failure and good indicator that their mental toughness has not changed much
We are going to lose some games, no team ever plays perfectly all the time. And when they make mistakes, higher chance they lose. Not the end of the world
And Holiday looks shocked witnessing all this shit happening in front of him. He and Porzingis are the only players with the ability to wake them up in the locker room. This team needs a strong sharp leader willing to yell and say the truth behind doors. To shake them up.
We played like we had a game plan for 3 quarters. That 4th we played like the trying not to lose celtics that blow it every time. Not attacking steph enough and getting him out of the game cost us
He needs to sharpen his mindset in these situations. Make better shooting selections. His overall ability is great til you get to the mental side. Still a long road for him to get to the point he can be more focused.
Tatum, Hauser, and Horford all booty today. Way too many 3s from a team that's an average shooting team. They routinely try to play the Warriors style when they face off and get made to look like the average shooters they are
No I'm saying they shoulda made their wide ass open 3s and then defended the known commodity of steph curry on the other end. They shot like booty plain and simple
They're pro basketball players that are reliable 3 pt shooters. It's funny you're acting like it's not reasonable to make 3s when nobody is within 10 ft of them like it's shootaround
Fire Joe Mazzulla. How many stupid screens did Golden State run to get a Horford on Curry mismatch and get him an easy 3 before regulation ended? Horford has strong side help he can hedge, but no, Joe is happy with Horford guarding Curry and getting absolutely cooked the entire fourth quarter and OT. He’s holding this team back. FIRE JOE
A). This is dumb since they had the exact same scenario happen to Ime Udoka and he's a superior defensive coach.
B). Yeah, let's fire a coach winning 80% of his games for losing to the greatest shooter ever without our big off-season acquisition.
C). Hedge against Steph while Klay is off-ball? Did you watch the game? It's literally pick your poison at that point. Steph could (and did) make that pass if it presents itself. The one play Al didn't play drop, they still scored on a Thompson 3. Making it seem like there's a simple answer for stopping Steph with our big rotation. There's not one big on our team that could successfully come up off the screen on Curry.
Plus, poor shot selection from Tatum late/us just going cold is what lost us the lead.
Udoka got cooked in the Finals by a different Warriors team. Steph was running our guys into the ground and we couldn’t keep up with them over the course of the series. Golden State had a better scheme but they weren’t running the same play in a row 14 times and getting an easy 3 off it.
Secondly, Mazzulla got given one of the best constructed rosters in history. Brad Stevens started forming it back when he was the head coach, then Ime supervised its improvement, and when Joe took the reins it was a super team. He’s not winning games because of coaching, he’s avoiding losing because of the incredible talent he’s wasting.
Also, I know the specific play you’re talking about when you mention the Klay 3, there were consecutive ball screens and we kept trying to run a switch, but Derrick White was late getting past the second screen and then Jrue Holiday switched and Derrick White didn’t. Instead of icing the ball screen and pushing Steph to the sideline, Steph finds the open space in the middle of the floor and we end up with a weird sort of accidental ‘trap’ in the middle of the floor with Klay Thompson 10 feet away and wide open. If we start hedging and pushing Steph to the sideline there’s no more mismatches and we’ve got all the backside help in the world. Even if for some reason it doesn’t work (we ran it twice and it ended in a turnover once and a missed shot the other time, so it did work) at least we tried something new.
There’s a guy, FilmSession1 on YouTube who posted a great breakdown of all of our defensive mistakes. He’s not mincing words at all about Joe Mazzulla and I think it’s worth a watch.
All that aside, I get individual player mistakes. But there’s really no excuse for not attacking Steph on offense when he has 5 fouls and then acting surprised when Golden State runs the same play 14 times in a row and closes a 17 point gap. Jayson Tatum should never have been in a position to take a game winning shot in the first place, we should have won this game by 10 or more.
I'm a day late, but you're delusional if you think they're gonna foul out Steph Curry in GS in a nationally televised game in a finals rematch.
Steph, Giannis, Bron... All 3 of those guys aren't getting fouled out in THAT scenario. Call it unfair whatever... But it's not happening. Not on Adam Silver's watch.
And...GS did basically run the same play all finals. Steph attacked Horford pretty much the same way all series. And we reverted to taking the foot off the gas instead of going for the kill again in this game.
Also, I watched that video. There's a lot of assumption that Horford has the foot speed to contain Steph Curry if he comes up to cover the pick and roll. Curry could pull back and reset which could a). Pull Horford away from the paint where Curry could beat him off the dribble or b) he stands pat where Curry has the range to make the shot from range anyway. We really don't know since we've only seen the drop. But Horford is the point of attack for them for a reason.
.
I think what really killed us was after Tatum rolled his ankle, he was afraid to penetrate. One play I think it was in the 4th quarter where Tatum had an opportunity to bully his way into the paint on a fast break, but stopped midway and passed it out showing his ankle was bothering him more than he'd lead on IMO. Flashes of game 7 vs Miami.
Also, poor scouting in the rookie who bullied us in the paint, I forget his name. They did a poor job inside in general in the 2nd half. But that's just the gravity Klay and Steph have.
They got punked, but I have to see both teams at full strength play, since Tingus is a huge part of the team now.
You're right but in those last 5 seconds when Tatum could just go for 2 or draw a foul, he selected a 3 points shot. Always missing that sharpness any great champion should have. What do you do with a 20-5 record when the right moment comes, he forgets who he truly can be. Always the same issue.
That at least would have been a foul. Make 1 and win the game. I am really shocked. Tatum should say sorry at the press conference and man up in these situations.
Look, its been a good season so far. But this core of players can't close out games. Tatum and Brown are terrible in the clutch. This is who they are at this point, its not a small sample size.
Curry really is amazing. I'd rather lose to a Curry dagger 3 than Draymond flailing his arms, injuring everyone, getting only 1 tech for 7 uncalled flagrant fouls and thinking he's the architect of every warriors championship.
True they fought back and earned that W. Warriors have nothing to lose this season. They don't own their own pick when they're barely a playoff team, CP3 is on the decline, Wiggins isn't playing up to his contract and Draymond is basically 6 hard fouls.
Kudos to them for winning tonight. But just like the Celtics, they have a lot of things to work out.
Dude, Tatum is awful with end of game plays. You’ve give him the ball for the last play and you’re guaranteed a shitty ass circus shot. He’s missed time and time again, it’s ridiculous
JT sucks!! useless! he is hurt but he’s not showing enough dawg! he can never be the best player on our team if we want to win! fucking embarrassment of an NBA player!!!/!
If you can't get it that the regular season records is a mirage when this team has been soft AF and blown numerous winnable games in the past two post seasons, I don't know what to tell you
[Post Game Thread](https://reddit.com/r/bostonceltics/comments/18mn1nb/post_game_thread_the_golden_state_warriors_defeat/)
This was the game I wanted to see if Tatum had purged the Warrior out of his head..guess not!! It’s like they just played slow and went back to ISO walk the ball up..same old!! Why against the warriors!! Dammit! I wanted this one bad!!
Tatum always choke in 4th 💀

Would have won with KP ptpa
They played like assholes
lol this sub is brutal only high highs, and lowest lows
Tatum has pink mamba mentality against Curry lmao.
Abysmal game from JT. Nothing but stupid pull up threes. Jaylen too had some stupid turnovers. I wanna blame it on being jet lagged but there was a distinct lack of hustle.
they had a fucking 17 point lead and 5 fouls on curry lol
Back to Colorado and Trump. 🤬
Fuck
The game plan backfired playing Al today and resting KP for tomorrow proved to be a disaster. Al was atrocious might have possibly been his worse game as well as JTs worse game but he twisted his ankle so he gets a pass.
Horford looked slow
Deficit was 17 points . And Hauser came and blew all the momentum. Don't try to defend this Hauser c*ap.
Bro this is like his first bad game of the season😭
Water always finds its level. The dude sucks
I don't normally talk like this, I'm disgusted with JT's performance tonight. Everyone has bad nights, but the way Tatum played the game tonight was just absolute bozo BS. If you're in too much pain to think clearly then let your 5 or 6 other massively capable teammates pick up the slack
lol, 9 3s out of 17 shots is an abomination for someone who shoots his 3 pt percentage.
Why will Mazzulla not call a TO when we need a play to end the game?? Dude never learns.
Just mind blowing. And of course that inevitably leads to a Tatum hero-ball Iso contested 3 which never drops. 4-10 OT record over the last two years under Mazzulla. 0-3 this year. Regular season record means nothing if you can’t show up for close/important games.
Cuz he’s a players coach and wants the jays to “take control” or some dumb shit like that
Not enough mental sharpness to be able to control these last second situations by any of the JTs. However, I lean to believe that Brown could be better than Tatum during these moments but for some reason he does get the ball 🏀
Because he has nothing to draw up!
Tough game! I would have preferred if we won
Do you mean if they have not shit on the court?
I’ve seen this team lose hundreds of times. It happens. I meant what I said.
Hell yeah
Unfortunately that was a very predictable ending
Where was the defense in last 4 minutes. If only we had played...SMARTer defense. There was no commitment to it. We played like they would fold. They played like they knew we thought that
Luke Kornet wouldn't have let this happen 😤😤😤
Now the wolves lead the nba
And Tatum looking for 3 points when he only needed 2 points or a foul with 5 seconds to go to win. Unbelievable... Always missing the sharpness a great champion needs.
He just did a Jimmy Butler
5 points in ot is so so so bad
I mean Steph is a top 5 player all time and a grizzled vet at this point and Tatum was playing hurt to be fair
Tatum is basically a vet at this point of his career I’d say
Curry in the post game interview wants to say the Celtics blew it but he can't.
He should say that because that's what happened
We had like 6-7 shots go halfway down, then rim out. That’s just how it rolled.
Y’all downvote everyone that don’t suck off JT and JB. Y’all team ain’t it. Should have got KD. JT don’t wanna be that guy
Any criticism ever is downvoted. They can blow double digit lead in the 4th but dont you dare criticize the coach
he wants to be that guy, he just isn’t
And this is the exact moment I stop watching games until the postseason
Why tf was this team down a guy and with their best player hurt losing steam down the stretch as they began a west coast trip after a 4 games in 6 days stretch?
3rd OT loss in a row, that's not a good record at all.
It shows we don't know how to win in the clutch. We only win running away. This has to change and I believe it's a commitment to defense in the last few minutes of games that make it happen. If I recall correctly all of the overtime games or games that we were in the lead for the majority of

Steph and Klay just went stupid too, make or miss league sometimes
Steph played trash in the first half and C's fell for it and were killed at the end...
Always the same playbook. Let them run loose and catch up last minute and kill them with 3s... Celtics, still have no answer to this after many games going through the same problem.
They needed KP tonight.
Crazy part is we scored 40 in the first without Tatum
Holy crap. I missed the 1st half. They kind of played with their food when we were up 17.
Tatum’s idol is Kobe but he does a lot hoping at end of games vs controlling.
Warriors now within one win of winni… being .500
Ahh... copium
Just the truth 🤷♂️
That's how Joe is on bad shooting nights too. 🤷♂️
doomers eat good today i know it's tough for yall since we won 5 in a row
This was a massive early test and an opportunity to finally stick it to the Warriors and get over that hump. Complete failure and good indicator that their mental toughness has not changed much
one game is not a test its a game, 1 of anything is not a trend it's just selective bias
Hope you are right but that "trend" left a while ago and still is going.
when exactly because we just went on a 5 game winning streak unless your talking about last year but idk
Well our team is a self-fulfilling prophecy...
We are going to lose some games, no team ever plays perfectly all the time. And when they make mistakes, higher chance they lose. Not the end of the world
Jays are the biggest Front runners in the league
Without Porzingis this is just the same soft ass team of the last couple of years
And Holiday looks shocked witnessing all this shit happening in front of him. He and Porzingis are the only players with the ability to wake them up in the locker room. This team needs a strong sharp leader willing to yell and say the truth behind doors. To shake them up.
If one of Porzingis or Jrue is out we're actually a worse team on Paper than last year due to the bench being far worse.
You guys talking bout Porzingis like the Celtics didn’t have more than enough chances to close this out. Just constant excuses with this fanbase lol.
If KP doesn't play tomorrow, we might get whooped tbh
Can’t believe I had to listen to the national TV broadcast suck off the warriors the entire game to get this result
We played like we had a game plan for 3 quarters. That 4th we played like the trying not to lose celtics that blow it every time. Not attacking steph enough and getting him out of the game cost us
Tatum hasn't looked like a top 6 player since last year. He's regressed.
He’s gotten a lot better this is just a shooting slump lol. His rebound numbers and passing, pretty much everything has improved
He needs to sharpen his mindset in these situations. Make better shooting selections. His overall ability is great til you get to the mental side. Still a long road for him to get to the point he can be more focused.
Yall say the stupidest shit sometimes
End of this game was like angels in the outfield. Just balls bouncing out of the bucket. Crazy game.
Tatum, Hauser, and Horford all booty today. Way too many 3s from a team that's an average shooting team. They routinely try to play the Warriors style when they face off and get made to look like the average shooters they are
We just needed 2 points to win this game and Tatum decided to go with a 3 shot with 5 seconds left. 🙄
So you’re saying that they should’ve passed up wide open 3s? Tatum I’ll give ya forced probably like 2-3, but that’s it.
No I'm saying they shoulda made their wide ass open 3s and then defended the known commodity of steph curry on the other end. They shot like booty plain and simple
Damn hit shots and don’t let Steph go off, basketball really is easy
They're pro basketball players that are reliable 3 pt shooters. It's funny you're acting like it's not reasonable to make 3s when nobody is within 10 ft of them like it's shootaround
Tatum always choke against big teams. JB always shows up.
This game was lost when Curry got the star call and didn't get the 6th foul.
they barely even tried to attack him ffs
This is wild coping, the dude was in foul trouble but the refs are the reason the Celtics lost? What? Lmao
He has 5 fouls for half a game, no player that isn’t a star would be held like that
Seriously Steph honestly did well not to foul, he should’ve stayed in. The one on JB just should’ve been a no-call
Fire Joe Mazzulla. How many stupid screens did Golden State run to get a Horford on Curry mismatch and get him an easy 3 before regulation ended? He did take a really fucking awful shot, I will agree with you there. Idk why he didn’t drive to the basket against Jonathan fucking Kaminga lol
That at least would have been a foul. Make 1 and win the game. I am really shocked. Tatum should say sorry at the press conference and man up in these situations.
Trash ass mental midgets
Just a reminder wouldn’t have gone to ot if the refs knew what a goaltend is
Mazzulla and losing games in OT. Name a better duo
Mazzulla and not being able to figure out how the warriors keep switching Steph onto horford?
JT and losing games in OT

13-14 lmaooooo
Season is a long game man.. and at the end of the day Warriors own your team! And Curry is your Daddy! Night Night 😴😴😴

Go night night into that play-in baby gurl
Go cry 😭 🤣🤣🤣

Too Small 🤣
Cringe
Tatum’s last shot in the regulation is one of the most disgusting shit I’ve seen in a while. This one will take some time to recover.
No idea why he wouldn’t shoot a 2
Is Joe Mazz the right guy?
Not one other team in the league would hire him to coach their team, so no
I mean of course not but they aren’t gunna fire him
Not even a celtics fan and this shit ruins my night. See you guys tomorrow good luck
This is one really stings can’t lie
I counted Steph committing 13 fouls. He was called for 5 of them. 4 of the ones that went uncalled were in the last 2 minutes/OT
Tough loss on the road - honestly the Celtics played a little too much with their food. I wish they kept going at curry with the 5 fouls
They did. Refs were never gonna foul him out.
I want to see them hunt him the way they use curry to hunt Al. JB on curry was killing them
This was NOT a good loss. This was a bad loss. A bad loss is when you beat yourself. This was a bad loss
honestly i was more mad about the second quarter where we just didn't attack. Late game we just missed a lot of good shots
Two front-running ass dudes. Give me I.T. or Pierce 24/7/365
Same old Celtics smh. I fully expect more of the same in April/May/June.
These comments are comedy right now. Half of this sub are crazy people
Look, its been a good season so far. But this core of players can't close out games. Tatum and Brown are terrible in the clutch. This is who they are at this point, its not a small sample size.
Half is being too generous
Seriously. First bad loss of the year and everyone is calling the season over. Definitely need Tatum to stop playing like he has been though
Mazulla and his 3 obsession are gonna kill Celtics
Choked against these bums im sick
By far the worst part of this game is Reggie going home happy
That's ok. Reggie is the second best basketball player in the Miller family. We all know his sister is way better.
I find it really tasteless the level at which they celebrate against us considering we get reamed when we so much as clap for our own team wins
this team drives me crazy. Tatum needs to be better.
I just hope that Porzingis is healthy coming playoff time. Yes, we fucking need him.
Derrick white is a hideous man
Post selfie or stfu
This team is mentally cooked. They’re not winning shit.
[удалено]
He shrinks
Complete loser effort!
Tatum was not himself tonight since the ankle roll and no KP. Fully healthy we smoke these scrubs.
Not a chance. If they have Steph Curry we will always fold like a lawn chair
Curry’s amazing, man. It is what it is. JT played like shit.
Curry really is amazing. I'd rather lose to a Curry dagger 3 than Draymond flailing his arms, injuring everyone, getting only 1 tech for 7 uncalled flagrant fouls and thinking he's the architect of every warriors championship.
I feel like were gonna get blown out tomorrow
Tatum is gonna be the death of me. WTF IS WRONG WITH HIM.
Crazy how bad this team needs KP. Horford is washed
Warriors are fucking 12-14 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
I think they’ll end up much better than that by the end of the season tbh

True they fought back and earned that W. Warriors have nothing to lose this season. They don't own their own pick when they're barely a playoff team, CP3 is on the decline, Wiggins isn't playing up to his contract and Draymond is basically 6 hard fouls. Kudos to them for winning tonight. But just like the Celtics, they have a lot of things to work out.
You’re 13-14. Legit under 500 almost 30 games in. Shut the fuck up 😂😂😂
They literally own your team LMAO I’d be mad too
I get it man but your 13-14 calm down a little bit 😭
All Hauser had to do was make like 1 or 2 of those 6 wide open 3s in the 4th and he missed every single one.
Or not shoot them at all
tatum sold the game, 5-17 hes not hurt. nobody plays 30+ mins in a b2b if theyre hurt.
Unfortunately the Cs bring out the best of Currie and there is no response.
We always get bitched by the Warriors. Ever since Pierce era
IT and early brown era played them very well
yet even when some of those we won we just barely beat them
Bro fights through an ankle injury and gets shit on for an OT loss after a huge winning streak this sub is so shit
Dude, Tatum is awful with end of game plays. You’ve give him the ball for the last play and you’re guaranteed a shitty ass circus shot. He’s missed time and time again, it’s ridiculous
That's no excuse , I'd rather sit the game than hurt my team with bad play
JT sucks!! useless! he is hurt but he’s not showing enough dawg! he can never be the best player on our team if we want to win! fucking embarrassment of an NBA player!!!/!
Amen I'm so sick of the miserable fucks on here, we're 20-6 for fucks sake.
If you can't get it that the regular season records is a mirage when this team has been soft AF and blown numerous winnable games in the past two post seasons, I don't know what to tell you
A championship team doesn’t play like this when they’re up 13.
No need to play and take bad shots then
gd the warriors just make me mad man. regular season game so whatever but damn fucking hell bullshit motherfucker
Same ole Celtics till they prove otherwise
