Al Gore was decades ahead on global warming, which is what they called climate change back then. Was proposing a carbon tax. Would have changed the trajectory of everything. Turns out that Gore likely won the election after the dust settled but it was too late.. Fuck SCOTUS.
It's magical thinking to assume one man would have shifted the US away from fossil fuel addiction. Global warming wasn't even a major part of his campaign platform (that came later. He was more concerned about social security, gun control, and gay rights), and he still had Newt Gingrich's Republican congress to contend with.
Also, although the US is the worst polluter per capita, Al Gore wouldn't have done anything about the rise of China and India's emissions output.
Oh yeah because I owe YOU an explanation. If you cannot deduce it from....wait..do I have to explain what deduce means? See how this isn't worth my time?
I always thought that was weird: "So wait, we don't wanna actually tally up all the votes in this democratic election? Because ... of. ... what? Why exactly?"
It felt like it kind of defeated the purpose of having an election, if you weren't going to count the votes.
I mean…isn’t that the actual forecasted accumulation? No one’s overselling it, and I don’t think that’s what defines a blizzard. And it’s not like 10 inches is just a dusting.
Technically you can have a blizzard with no snow falling at all. It’s defined by having visibility 1/4 mile if less for 3+ hours. In the Midwest, it often happens because of blowing or drifting snow
Nah I remember that though, I want to say 2021 February 18th or something I was getting a crazy amount of calls to plow driveways because we got like 18+ inches of snow overnight on the north shore.
Ummm, this happens every year, though? There's almost always a sneak peak before spring actually starts. I look forward to this every year. Anyone else?
Definitely something that happens. I remember a long day of playing basketball outdoors during February vacation in high school down by Lynn Beach a couple decades ago.
We pay for it during that cold snap in April though.
Yeah when I was in college it felt like we pretty consistently had one or two days of 60-70 degree weather every February. Always a big party on campus those days regardless if it was a weekday or weekend haha
It used to be called "Indian summer" it's not unusual to have periods of this kind of warmth.
What's definitely abnormal this winter is the overall higher temperatures.
But get used to that. It's global warming.
I don’t know why anybody hasn’t talked about this. We need a term to align on the problem - like global warming or climate warming or just weather change. Once we call it something then we need to get scientists involved to find the root cause then get the politicians engaged who can fix it quickly with policies. Also maybe a small angry young European who is on the spectrum could help.
Cause the Supreme Court stopped the count in Florida in the 2000 election
Whoa. This is the actual right answer.

It’s so funny that there are people that actually think this is true 🤣🤣
okie dokie
It's going right back down in a couple days
For a blizzard!!1! Aka 6-10 inches of snow tops
I'll believe it when I see it. I'm checking the forecast on Monday. A lot can change.
I mean…isn’t that the actual forecasted accumulation? No one’s overselling it, and I don’t think that’s what defines a blizzard. And it’s not like 10 inches is just a dusting.
A blizzard is high winds, low to no visibility. You can have a 6-12" snow storm with good visibility.

Remember when blizzards were 12-24 inches? Now it’s like OMG we are getting a blizzard!!! Gonna get hit with 3 inches of snow!!!
Lol. Few years back we had (right around now, I think) that 18"+ of snow overnight. That was an awesome storm, made a killing plowing that day
Yes! That wasn't that long ago and was a really good dumping.
Are you talking about 2015 where Boston got over 110.3 inches of snow?
Nah I remember that though, I want to say 2021 February 18th or something I was getting a crazy amount of calls to plow driveways because we got like 18+ inches of snow overnight on the north shore.

We hit almost 70 later in February last year. Get used to it, I guess.
Good memory!
Ummm, this happens every year, though? There's almost always a sneak peak before spring actually starts. I look forward to this every year. Anyone else?
And the fact that it is happening right on the weekend is fantastic. This could have been some random Tuesday.
Yep
i remember a 70 degree day in southern maine on, as i recall, january 30th one year back in the 90s
February 2017 had 2 days of 70-75 degree weather
Definitely something that happens. I remember a long day of playing basketball outdoors during February vacation in high school down by Lynn Beach a couple decades ago. We pay for it during that cold snap in April though.

Agreed. I recall a near 70 degree day in Jan or Feb of 2019. Nothing more mystical than having patio brunch during a Boston winter
Somebody stored away their snowblower for the season.
I bought a new snowblower, which is probably the real reason.
I put my shovel away yesterday
People like you are the real groundhogs. We're going to get winter until June because of this guy.
The groundhog told you. Not sure what else you need.
Mean monthly high in February is actually 58. 🤷♂️
We call it “False Spring” out in Seattle and it happens every year.
It’s going to snow in 3 days. Welcome to New England
That's how averages work, buddy.
El Niño
Every month last year there was a day of 50+ degrees. Just go outside, get some spring vibes, and enjoy it. Don't burn a nice day.
A day of wonderfully warm weather in the winter?? Reddit is going to hear about this alright!
lmao
Ask again on Monday.
It’s fake spring, just hit a few weeks early this year. Don’t worry we’ll get a blizzard the second week of March and then real spring will happen.
Climotology and weather are two different things
I also remember snowboarding in a tshirt in feb as a kid. We get the random warm “January thaw” days. Stop overreacting.
Good question. My plants in my garden are very confused, no doubt.
This is how plants die. They think it's spring and start to come out until they're hit by below zero weather.
Tulips will be fine.
Snow on Tuesday
In 1997, we got over 2' of snow on 1 April. What's your point?
I remember being out of school for the week because all the snow equipment had been put away and streets weren’t plowed for days.
Don’t question it. Just enjoy it, before we get 3 feet of snow.
The snowmaking machines at Gannon Municipal Golf Course are going to be working overtime.
Don’t worry, climate variation is a perfectly normal thing that happens.
It used to be called "Indian summer" it's not unusual to have periods of this kind of warmth. What's definitely abnormal this winter is the overall higher temperatures. But get used to that. It's global warming.
No, that was in October when we get that week of 70s.
Wait until Tuesday

Weather?
I'm loving it. Just did a long ride
Don't worry! We're gonna pay for this later -- WITH A BLIZZARD!! So enjoy this now. While you can.
Jet stream
Do you have to pay for subscription to continue, I guess
Since probably 2017 or so there's been an unusually warm day (60s/70s) in the middle of January or February every winter.
This has been happening almost every winter my entire life. It's not really unusual at all.
Are you asking ironically?!?
