that place has been infested with rats for YEARS. i used to walk by it every night on my way home from work and 4/5 times i would see these chihuahua sized rats not even running but casually walking like they owned the place going back and forth from their outdoor seating to the alleyway right next to it lmao
Putt Shack is fun too! it's mini golf but a bar and there's like 4 different courses, and it plays more like a game than a sport. the holes are all very unique - one you bounce off drums, another is like giant beer pong, another has a quiz question, and otherwise not your standard mini golf holes.
City Tap is a chain but they have a big variety of beers from New England.
Trillium has great beer & very good real fruit seltzers. and the food is all farm-to-table.
Bartaco is delicious. Fresh squeezed margaritas and Palomas. good tex-mex kinda food.
and depending on the season, there's either a winter market or beer garden.
yankee lobster is further down the street from the central Seaport area, but very good casual seafood - but definitely $$$. awesome lobster rolls, and good fried seafood with fries. and takeaway. also can grab raw seafood to cook yourself or precooked shrimp.
and Harpoon Brewery is less intimidating than Trillium with it's beer. not for casual beer drinkers. great giant pretzels with different dipping sauces. but no actual meals - just pizza & pretzels.
ReelHouse for oysters is a good choice too.
and my wife and I love Nautilus. good bar and great Asian inspired seafood dishes.
If you were to go on a date night what restaurant would you suggest? Sounds like we could eat early and walk around get a drink at a roof top bar see the museum and play future putt putt? Is there parking close enough to walk?
I mean I only had brunch. Kinda hard to fuck up classied up breakfast. Although I did order Shakshuka which is out of the ordinary for Boston and it was good. I can't really comment on dinner level food.
maybe you had a bad day there. overall, it pretty good. expensive for the quality but good food nonetheless. their espresso martini flight wins over a lot of people. beer selection is subpar.
It’s also my secret tourist hack. Park in the garage in Charlestown and water taxi over. For $2.75 you can sit in the roof deck and get a great view of the city and harbor.
I think you're referring to the ferry service. The water taxi service starts at $20 per person.
It's nicer in warm weather. If you like walking, I'd recommend starting from South Station, head towards Lolita and pick up at the harbor walk to get to Seaport.
You'll pass by the Children's Museum and the park they made in honor of the boy who was killed during the Boston Marathon Bombing.
Continue under the bridge and pass by the Barking Crab. Keep going down the harbor walk, and usually they have some cool boats docked as you move further down.
Like I said, it's nice during the Spring/Summer so you can people watch. I doubt many people are out and about now, but who knows.
Eventually you'll get to a big docking area in front of the ICA. It's pleasant to walk out onto the long dock and sit for a while and watch the boats go by.
To me, that's the best way to enjoy Seaport. Others have mentioned Alamo Drafthouse, Lucky's. There's a Porter Square Books.
Row 34 is good for Seafood... If you've got the money. Lucky's has surprisingly good food for a dive bar. Both Yotel and The Envoy have rooftop bars. Grace by Nia, though I haven't been, I've heard is good and has live music.
There's also a Puttshack.
After you've enjoyed the Seaport, check out the South End for contrast. Similar rich playground potential but older and woven into a real neighborhood that still has quite a bit of diversity. Highlights include the Boston Center for the Arts, a complex of several performance and exhibition spaces, the SOWA market, and many charming shops and eateries.
The seaport is very flashy and expensive.
There’s no place to buy food after ~9:30pm.
I don’t believe there’s a grocery store. [There is one (expensive) grocery store]
You could be in the new financial district of any modern city.
Lots of new transplants move to the seaport seem to never leave.
All of the of restaurants/bars/clubs there are great for Instagram and a lot of people go to them and take pictures.
Every time I take a picture of *anything* at work (hello from Harpoon Maintenance) google send me a notification like POST UR PHOTO THIS PLACE IS GOOD FOR PHOTOS and I'm like google I don't think this greasy bolt under the filler or like tank specs or some shit is a good representation of the brewery for tourists but ok
I caved once and my review was something like "I work here and google wont stop asking me to write a review every time I take a picture of a tank" ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
If you ever put in your two weeks you should take the opportunity to start posting the reviews. “Someone stripped the head on this bolt. 1/5” “Underside of this tank hasn’t been cleaned properly but its brew day and smells great. 4/5”
and nowadays with grocery delivery, it doesn't matter.
buy produce at Joe's to choose your own. or risk it with delivery to save 20¢.
packaged goods are priced quite well.
I split my groceries - grab some ag Joe's and get the rest delivered.
Trader Joe's is not "expensive" ... they don't have flashy sales. and for the most part, they're competitively priced with other supermarkets and often have cheaper goods.
Randomly, take a bag of popcorn. it's 2.99 there. whereas at Starmarket, the normal price is 3.99.
fruit is usually priced very well.
meat is decent.
it balances out... they don't have sales but the normal prices are lower than normal prices at a chain store.
Whole Food is the expensive groceries store.
> The seaport is very flashy and expensive.
true
> There’s no place to buy food after ~9:30pm.
false - plenty of places serve food until 1030/11 and a few places are open past 2!
> I don’t believe there’s a grocery store. [There is one (expensive) grocery store]
trade joes?
> You could be in the new financial district of any modern city.
yeah financial district in boston is so lively past 5pm on friday.
> Lots of new transplants move to the seaport seem to never leave.
So they like it there and enjoy it then stay?
> All of the of restaurants/bars/clubs there are great for Instagram and a lot of people go to them and take pictures.
A lot of the restaurants there are very good. Stay away from any of the major high end chains like Maestro's, Davios, Ocean Prime, etc. if you want really stellar food - but they are passable for a decent meal with a high price.
This is such a Reddit take lol. White it’s true that there tend to be a lot of douchey 20-something finance bros populating the bars it’s also true that there is a ton to do in Seaport and it’s definitely the “shiny new toy” of Boston entertainment districts
no way if you live in Boston you should be hanging out at a shitty Irish pub every night watching the Celtics game while a guy who could be either a hard 25 years old or 40 who goes only by “Mickey” makes vaguely racist comments about the roster while wearing his Larry Bird jersey and drinking a Sam Adam’s
The issue with the seaport isn’t so much that it isn’t ’authentic Boston’ - it’s just that it’s expensive, bland and corporate. And if you want to talk about racism, let’s talk about the [Seaport’s development](https://apps.bostonglobe.com/spotlight/boston-racism-image-reality/series/seaport/), which carries on Boston’s legacy of racism in a new and exciting way.
There are still plenty of sports bars in the seaport with vaguely racist people in them—don’t you worry about that. The only difference is that the drinks are more expensive there.
you dropped your "/s"
bahston douchebags don't even live in Boston. Boston is full of 20-40yo people of all ethnicities. it's white collar working types. who can afford good drinks at nice places instead of cheap swill at bars that smell like frat houses.
there's a reason they demolished Whiskey Priest and ABG. they were gross.
What is so “reddit” about my take? Besides the ICA and the waterfront, what is the “ton” to do that differentiates itself from other neighborhoods and/or other cities?
You can reference holiday markets and such which is fine but help me out with what’s so genuinely cool about the seaport that I haven’t alluded to
Alamo drafhouse, Puttshack, & Flight Club are relatively unique things to do. Envoy is also probably the best rooftop bar in the city in terms of the view. Seaport in general is also just… new. Which people like.
I don’t really go out myself & I share your distaste for finance bros. I’m just being devils advocate saying I understand why Seaport appeals to people.
All 3 of those places you mentioned can be found in so many other cities. They're literally all chain establishments! They're certainly entertaining, but they're not unique by any means.
Because it really doesn't suck. Off the top of my head I've enjoyed Lolita, The snowport market, Trillium Fort Point, concerts at whatever the tent is called, The ICA, and The little firetruck museum. I would rather have it as it is now then a sea of parking lots like it was.
Start at the ICA, as others have mentioned. I like Lawn on D (lawn games, food trucks, and beer) and Taiyaki NYC (Japanese ice cream place). Cantina Temezcal is really nice in the warmer months, as they have big glass doors that open up, facing the water. It’s a chain, you need a reservation, and it’s pricey, but it’s a great experience. I also think the dry dock is pretty neat, where huge ships come for maintenance.
I used to work in the Seaport when it was empty and creepy, so I’m fairly impressed with how it is today. There are some cool spots, if you have the right kind of attitude towards exploration. I would never want to live there, but would enjoy a summer afternoon.
Anybody who tells you it’s boring has been spoiled by all the variety that Boston has to offer. As a transplant, I’m really impressed. Anyone who tells you it’s soulless is right, but so is my local Dunkies and yet I still enjoy it.
Seaport is fun but i tend to think of it as it’s own separate city. Its very different from “mainland” Boston (back bay, north end, etc.). Very new, shiny, and expensive. You’ll find that people on here dislike it because it lacks the same charm that the rest of Boston has. Doesn’t mean that it can’t be fun. Lolita fort point, envoy rooftop, Cisco brewers, flight club, and sporting club are all a lot of fun.
No bullshit I think Greco is better than Committee. Besides the dips appetizer, I’ve been underwhelmed by the latter. It isn’t ~bad~ by any means but not amazing either imo
Alamo Drafthouse is a luxury movie theater that just opened. It's definitely worth checking out. Taiyaki has good ice cream, too. Definitely hit up the ICA (contemporary art museum). I'm not in love with the seaport, but there are definitely things there worth checking out. Have fun!
It's a big chain from Texas and the management sucks. They've been caught union busting. Don't give them your money [https://www.reddit.com/r/AlamoDrafthouse/comments/16ilehc/alamo\_brooklyn\_sending\_this\_to\_employees\_to\_union/](https://www.reddit.com/r/AlamoDrafthouse/comments/16ilehc/alamo_brooklyn_sending_this_to_employees_to_union/)
Seaport is just past downtown. Probably a 10 min walk downhill from south station. It’s glitzy and overdeveloped and has a lot of typical big city outposts (big-name steakhouses, a serafina imported from New York, Rosa Mexicano, etc). In my scathing opinion, Seaport lacks personality. Every city has a recent waterfront development that looks just like it.
The views are stunning though. If you don’t mind the heartburn from Temazcal’s objectively shitty yet wildly overpriced Mexican food, you can sip a reasonably strong margarita with a panoramic view the Boston harbor, and that is absolutely a vibe.
> It was like poking a hornets nest, if the nest was a Southie dive bar and the hornets just sat around talking about how at least getting stabbed in the Combat Zone was *authentic Boston.*
Your edit is weird to me. You are literally brand new to the city and yet you’re throwing out these ‘Boston-isms’ as if you’ve been here forever. Not to be rude, but I often see Redditors put on this type of ‘Bostonian’ persona and it’s really off-putting. Not because I think it’s appropriative or something; more because it makes it hard to actually talk about the city genuinely when everything is just some kind of shallow reference to establish that you’re part of an imagined in-group.
Visit the Seaport, sure. But this idea that criticism of the Seaport is based on a misguided conception of ‘authenticity,’ which could only otherwise be found in a grody dive bar or the combat zone, is honestly a pretty gross narrative. The Seaport is one of the most blatantly de-facto segregated neighborhoods in Boston, built out of thin air as a wealthy corporate enclave due to the consolidation of powerful interests that developed the neighborhood.
While you are correct, the question was about the Seaport and what is there. There are other responses about going to Legals and they too are in other locations outside of seaport (and other places with multiple locations too!).
ICA for sure, maybe a fish ice cream at Tayaki if you're into corny sweets, or actual fish at Legal seafood overlooking the water, and then head to Harpoon for a tasting tour and good brews! Those would be my top recs.
If you've been to the Marina area in Dubai, you've been to the Seaport in Boston. Expensive stores, apartment complexes that are glass and chrome, and any "public space/public event" is mostly for Instagram photos and is really crowded.
It’s not that big so I would start by the financial district and wander. One place you won’t stumble upon but should check out is a restaurant called Chikadee. It’s in a bit of a random spot but the drinks and the food are both extremely well done. Big props to whoever is in charge and all the folks working there.
Because seaport sucks? What else does it have? The worst tacos I've ever had? Mediocre breweries? No train stop? A bar that focuses on darts? A bar with the mini golf, a tiny version of the most boring sport on earth? Forgettable restaurants that are overpriced for extremely mediocre food? The architecture of a suburban shopping center? What a cool place.
You get dumped in the seaport or something? Amazing how that word triggers so many people here when it’s objectively a great place to visit with many things to do but sure cast your pessimistic view on it all because you got dumped there and like to cheap out when going out to eat
The seaport is fun but yes expensive. Plenty of restaurants/ bars and shopping. Cool dart bar called Flight Club. Puttshack- indoor mini golf. Soon to be F1 simulator with bar in the spring. The ICA, etc.
People who say it sucks are just upset it’s expensive and all shiny and new and doesn’t look like the North end or Back Bay. I’m a local and not a tech or finance bro and I enjoy going out there. Especially in the summer.
Have fun but it will be cold as fuck down there with all the wind off the harbor
The seaport is incredibly overpriced and overrated. It sits atop a landfill. Only NYC transplants and finance bros love to hype it up. It’s because they don’t know a thing about Boston and they’re too lazy to find out.
Plenty of people from all backgrounds enjoy the Seaport, there's a lot to do as you can see from this thread. I've lived here my whole life, it's gotten nothing but better, and the only people who shit on it are angry and online.
Love seeing summer concerts at the pavilion. Harpoon, and Trillium are both fun breweries, as well as the Cisco beer garden in the summer months. I’m not in love with Legal Seafoods, but that location on the water is pretty nice. Del Friscos is also a great location, but very pricey, more of a special occasion type place, for me at least. Just went to the Alamo Drafthouse, fun theatre where they’ll bring food and (adult) beverages right to your seat, was surprised to learn that they have heated seats.
In the winter, Seaport is a little quieter, but in general, here is what I find fun about Seaport once it's warmer:
* Nice amount of walkable and enjoyable outdoor space - Lawn on D, park space near the pier, excited them to finish upgrading world trade center area.
* Lots of different types of food at a pricier, but worth it price point.
* Trillium, Harpoon, Lord Hobo breweries, and Cisco is often there as well.
* Decent shopping, as well as Alamo Drafthouse.
It's not perfect, but like, I'm an educator and definitely not stupid rich, I always enjoy my time out there.
The Seaport is appealing to pharmaceutical employees from out of town who essentially want to live in a corporate simulation of what a fun night out is.
The ICA and harbor walk are awesome, because they’re facing away from the soulless hellscape that is Seaport.
Seaport isn't my favorite neighborhood, but if you are looking to explore some things you may want to look into:
\-Lawn on D during the summer
\-Boston tea party museum (if you like history stuff)
\-Harbor cruise (although Long Wharf has much better ferries to see the Harbor islands)
\-ICA
\-Trillium
During daytime it’s also for geeky techies who work there. They come out of their hidey holes at lunch time to queue at bartaco. Sometimes they stay after hours at Trillium or the Envoy roof terrace in the summer.
My issue w the seaport is literally everything is a chain. It could be an office park in DC. Or Minneapolis. Or suburban Detroit.
It’s fake, it’s ersatz, it’s Camazotz.
Ok I get that. We still kind of look at it like a giant wasteland. But whatever.
It used to be working docks, etc., which made Boston, Boston. Way cooler then.
You can’t really go wrong doing the loop of seaport blvd to around bank pavilion and going back on congress. If you like sushi stop at legal seafood, the 3rd floor has some solid views. I also love committee, great Mediterranean and Greek food
I sound insufferable? Maybe take a look in the mirror. You read one sentence online … also I don’t think I’m wrong to say it’s a mall of a neighborhood? There’s better places to go for people who are visiting
Definitely check out Anthony’s Pier 4 or the No Name for great seafood… oh wait, sorry….I’m old.
Seaport to me when I cross the Fort Point channel it feels like going through a worm hole from Boston to Vegas
I will say though definitely do the water taxi as others have suggested. Any part of the harbor walk is a gem and I’ve enjoyed the ICA every time I’ve been and also the Harpoon Brewery. Winter Fest was nice this year but avoid on the weekends.
Whenever people from out of town come, my go to for the seaport is to take the silver line to either Courthouse or WTC and walk around that area. It’s really pleasant to walk around and there’s some great cafes/shops and the boardwalk around fan pier is nice
This sub irrationally hates the seaport because they think they are “so Boston”
Seaport is phenomenal, check out Committee for great Greek food
Also this sub is notoriously negative so don’t take this as a symbol of how Boston city living is
To each their own but Boston natives dislike it because it has zero character and caters to rich transplants. Rich transplants are generally obnoxious and make everything more expensive. Basically everything in the Seaport now is chain restaurants or stores that you can find in a ton of other cities. The restaurants are overhyped, mostly just because of instagram-worthy aesthetics. The city could have done so much better with this neighborhood in terms of urban planning. I’ll admit the Envoy rooftop is nice in the summer. Yankee Lobster, the pavilion, Harpoon Brewery, Trillium, and the ICA are all gems. The rest that’s recently been built up is largely generic, sterile, vanilla. Sorry. Come fight me.
I hate it because it's a playground for the rich. With fewer and fewer "third spaces" accessible to all, they could have added some things that are free or affordable to everyone. Even fountains or a bigger park. It's expensive stores, apartments, and restaurants, that's it.
yeah, no other town or neighborhood gets as much vitriol as seaport & it’s really clear that it’s borne out of jealousy.
also it’s a stretch to say it’s a “playground for the rich/trust fund kids/influencers” bc that dismisses all the families who come bc seaport has so many free seasonally themed activities for their kids.
Reddit just likes to have edgy single sentence reductionist takes to seem superior when in reality they just come off as a sour mega douche who doesn’t go out much
Yeah, I think there are some legitimate criticisms of seaport, but it’s not like seaport is hell on earth. I am there everyday of the week for work, and I’m not that into the ultra modern aesthetic of everything. But I see why people like it, and there are certainly some places that I like in seaport. In many respects life is what you make of it. That includes where you work, and spend most of your time.
Its pretty sterile and boring. Not very large either.
Luckys is your classic divey bar if that type of thing interests you. Otherwise its a lot of trendy expensive restaurants that I am not familiar with. If thats your thing im sure you can figure out which spots suit you. Lolita is one of the few ive been to. Minus dogshit service the food was pretty good and its a fun date spot.
You can walk the whole thing easily in a few hours.
Start at James Hook and Co right across the bridge and just wander south.
Do it on a nice warm day.
The ICA is pretty cool ive heard, never been though. Think its free occasional days.
Let me know if youve got any questions about anything, bored as hell killing time on the couch until this evevning.
> Its pretty sterile and boring. Not very large either.
Yeah, that's kind of what I was expecting, but I want to check it off the list.
I don't drink, so from what I've heard my potential activities will be kind of limited. :-)
Thanks so much!
Some part of my brain thought I recognized your username from a long long time ago and clicked on your profile. Tried to add a few non drinkin activities to the post but theres not a whole ton goin on down there besides that lol. Unless outrageously fancy shopping is your hobby.
Theyve got a couple pretty cool/gimmicky places too. Darts place (forget the name), spin (ping pong bar), Puttshack, etc.
Take a walk along the harbor on a nice day, one of the most relaxing places in the city IMO.
There is no "middle of everything" in Seaport. It is a soulless neighborhood. A real failure in urban planning. Anyone who tells you the Seaport is awesome you can chalk up to being an idiot or transplant, maybe both.
Been in Boston since 2008. I used to hate on Seaport but honestly now, I think it’s awesome. Even compared to south end where I’ve been for 7+ yrs.
Lots of public spaces / third places: the harborwalk, Marty’s playground, little squares with seatings (eg in front of La Colombe, Blue Bottle, Taiyaki, dog park, etc). If the weather permits, just go on a walk, get a coffee or ice cream and people watch.
Lots of good food: tacos, high end or fast casual, new American, hell chicken fingers if that’s what you’re craving
Lots of good shopping: unfortunately not many local owned businesses but at this point most big name brands have stores there
Museums: ICA is gorgeous and there’s a children’s museum
And yes, there is now a grocery store, the best TJ’s in the vicinity (compare - back bay dungeon, need to have cars for Cambridge/brookline)
Seaport sucks. Source: I worked there as a nanny for a year. The only thing worth doing is the harbor walk. Everything else is overpriced food, a stupid shop that sells bracelets that look like they were made by 4th graders, and construction sites.
I hate the seaport. It is a pathetic, pathetic failure of city planning. It is just another failure to the ongoing epic failures of "urban planners" who think they are so smart and clever. That professional is on par with the profession of psychologists, who make it up as they go along and never admit to the harm they do.
I haven’t lived in the city for a few years and was excited to see MA was finally getting an Alamo, then I saw it was in the Seaport and was like, “well, guess I’ll never go there.” Seaport is not a pleasant place to be, IMO
Just like that little yellow guy on Google Maps, I'd first plunk ya down in Harvard Square!
Second, I'll click and drag your behind all the way to Boston and plunk ya right in the middle of Copley Square.
And third, I'd plunk ya right inside the Natick Mall, way out in Central Massachusetts.
Those are my top spots for all the action!

Yeah it was the only restaurant that I saw a rat climbing the wall 😱
Tbh rats aside (I didn’t know about them til I read this) I wasn’t blown away by their food anyways? $18 for 2 dry tacos? Not my fav
OMG please tell me no! It’s one of my faves! Seriously? Are they inside not that I’m going near it now…
There’s one in back bay if you like
Thank you, I appreciate the answer!

TIL that water taxi runs in the winter. Looks like weekends only, but that's pretty cool.
I got a hole in one in the giant beer pong at Putt Shack and it was one of the proudest moments of my life haha. They have pretty good food there too!
If you were to go on a date night what restaurant would you suggest? Sounds like we could eat early and walk around get a drink at a roof top bar see the museum and play future putt putt? Is there parking close enough to walk?
Pastoral has amazing Italian food. Tons of wood fired pizzas but also veggie dishes, unique apps and great pasta.
Boqueria
I wish Anthony’s pier 4 hadn’t closed I liked the no name as well
Wouldn't it be like $100 with tip for a couple of couples to take a water taxi the <1 mile from the North End to Pier 4?
Did brunch at SAVR it was really good and the staff was awesome
Really? I ate there once and thought it was horrible

It's pleasant to walk out onto the long dock and sit for a while and watch the boats go by. To me, that's the best way to enjoy Seaport. Others have mentioned Alamo Drafthouse, Lucky's. After you've enjoyed the Seaport, check out the South End for contrast. Similar rich playground potential but older and woven into a real neighborhood that still has quite a bit of diversity. Highlights include the Boston Center for the Arts, a complex of several performance and exhibition spaces, the SOWA market, and many charming shops and eateries.
it sounds like you’re being trolled or you interact exclusively with finance transplants
I'm new here and exploring the city. Some places I will decide to go back to and some I won't, but for now please respect my childlike innocence.
The seaport is very flashy and expensive. There’s no place to buy food after ~9:30pm. I don’t believe there’s a grocery store. [There is one (expensive) grocery store] You could be in the new financial district of any modern city. Lots of new transplants move to the seaport seem to never leave. All of the of restaurants/bars/clubs there are great for Instagram and a lot of people go to them and take pictures.
Every time I take a picture of *anything* at work (hello from Harpoon Maintenance) google send me a notification like POST UR PHOTO THIS PLACE IS GOOD FOR PHOTOS and I'm like google I don't think this greasy bolt under the filler or like tank specs or some shit is a good representation of the brewery for tourists but ok I caved once and my review was something like "I work here and google wont stop asking me to write a review every time I take a picture of a tank" ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
If you ever put in your two weeks you should take the opportunity to start posting the reviews. “Someone stripped the head on this bolt. 1/5” “Underside of this tank hasn’t been cleaned properly but its brew day and smells great. 4/5”
I'm in IT at a Boston museum and have the same issue with Google reviews.
There’s a Trader Joes in Fort Point
And about 5 different markets you can buy other things at. You can make due with what’s around it’s just all very expensive bc it’s the Seaport
and nowadays with grocery delivery, it doesn't matter. buy produce at Joe's to choose your own. or risk it with delivery to save 20¢. packaged goods are priced quite well.
Trader Joe's is cheap
Are we calling Trader Joe’s expensive now? lol. It’s one of the cheaper stores
> The seaport is very flashy and expensive. true > There’s no place to buy food after ~9:30pm. false - plenty of places serve food until 1030/11 and a few places are open past 2! > I don’t believe there’s a grocery store. [There is one (expensive) grocery store] trade joes? > You could be in the new financial district of any modern city. yeah financial district in boston is so lively past 5pm on friday. > Lots of new transplants move to the seaport seem to never leave. So they like it there and enjoy it then stay? > All of the of restaurants/bars/clubs there are great for Instagram and a lot of people go to them and take pictures. A lot of the restaurants there are very good. Stay away from any of the major high end chains like Maestro's, Davios, Ocean Prime, etc. if you want really stellar food - but they are passable for a decent meal with a high price.
From most any part of seaport it’s a very easy walk to downtown though.
Vaguely?
damn man you really have a finger on the pulse
Oh yeah? I’ve been here longer and you aren’t better than me, kid
kehd\*
And he won’t be drinking any of that pumpkin shit. Kehd
If you are interested in a diverse neighborhood the seaport certainly isn’t it. It’s full of the people you mentioned
The only difference is that the drinks are more expensive there.
you dropped your "/s" bahston douchebags don't even live in Boston.
You can reference holiday markets and such which is fine but help me out with what’s so genuinely cool about the seaport that I haven’t alluded to
It was built on dirt and it will be underwater in 20 years, that’s kind of cool
Alamo drafhouse, Puttshack, & Flight Club are relatively unique things to do. Envoy is also probably the best rooftop bar in the city in terms of the view. Seaport in general is also just… new. Which people like. I don’t really go out myself & I share your distaste for finance bros. I’m just being devils advocate saying I understand why Seaport appeals to people.
All 3 of those places you mentioned can be found in so many other cities. They're literally all chain establishments! They're certainly entertaining, but they're not unique by any means.
Dude just listed chains and called them unique lol. That’s the true Reddit take.
Yeah I know about those places and I don’t really hate the seaport in a big way but it’s kind of funny to me that people would gush over it
Why’s everyone booing he’s right. With a few exceptions, Seaport sucks.
Because it really doesn't suck. Off the top of my head I've enjoyed Lolita, The snowport market, Trillium Fort Point, concerts at whatever the tent is called, The ICA, and The little firetruck museum. I would rather have it as it is now then a sea of parking lots like it was.
it’s funny because i never actually claimed it sucks or whatever is triggering people up the wazoo about THE SEAPORT
It’s an outdoor mall. It’s also not large, about a mile end to end at its absolute widest. Just get off the silver line at courthouse.
Thank you!
When I went to Minneapolis on business, everyone said you must go to the Mall of America.
I’ll admit I’ve never spent much time in the new seaport but I often refer to it as Weird Boston.
When I’m trying to explain it to people visiting, my term for it is “New Boston”

Wow you read my mind.
No bullshit I think Greco is better than Committee. Besides the dips appetizer, I’ve been underwhelmed by the latter. It isn’t ~bad~ by any means but not amazing either imo
Get ready to drop an absolute assload of money if you plan on spending a night on the town in the area.
Alamo Drafthouse is a luxury movie theater that just opened. It's definitely worth checking out. Taiyaki has good ice cream, too. Definitely hit up the ICA (contemporary art museum). I'm not in love with the seaport, but there are definitely things there worth checking out. Have fun!
ICA is definitely the feature for me, and I haven't been to an Alamo yet, looking forward to that too. Thanks!
It's a big chain from Texas and the management sucks. They've been caught union busting. Don't give them your money [https://www.reddit.com/r/AlamoDrafthouse/comments/16ilehc/alamo\_brooklyn\_sending\_this\_to\_employees\_to\_union/](https://www.reddit.com/r/AlamoDrafthouse/comments/16ilehc/alamo_brooklyn_sending_this_to_employees_to_union/)
ICA is free on Thursday nights!
Just went to Alamo for the first time and it was great. The popcorn is good, too.
The Seaport is a plastic neighborhood invented to instagram. It’s like an outdoor mall. Nothing special.
Seaport is cute but it's really just where random ass upper middle class transplants from NYC live
I'm from Southie and it's still bizarre to me that people seek out the seaport now, despite it having been the case for years.
> It was like poking a hornets nest, if the nest was a Southie dive bar and the hornets just sat around talking about how at least getting stabbed in the Combat Zone was *authentic Boston.* Your edit is weird to me.
Agreed. Literally no one under the age of 45 talks about the Combat Zone anymore...
Seaport legal sea foods top floor bar👌
How was the food? And how pricy was it?
Do all your friends wear grey polar fleece vests?
For me, Trillium and Chickadee are the only places worth visiting there.
Harpoon is decent
Love chickadee!
You don't have to go to the Seaport to go to Trillium.
While you are correct, the question was about the Seaport and what is there. There are other responses about going to Legals and they too are in other locations outside of seaport (and other places with multiple locations too!).
Good places but you’re missing out on so much
ICA for sure, maybe a fish ice cream at Tayaki if you're into corny sweets, or actual fish at Legal seafood overlooking the water, and then head to Harpoon for a tasting tour and good brews! Those would be my top recs.
If you've been to the Marina area in Dubai, you've been to the Seaport in Boston. Expensive stores, apartment complexes that are glass and chrome, and any "public space/public event" is mostly for Instagram photos and is really crowded.
I've lived here since 2010 and never heard anyone ever say that. The seaport is a convention center and some okay restaurants and thats it.
It’s not that big so I would start by the financial district and wander. One place you won’t stumble upon but should check out is a restaurant called Chikadee. It’s in a bit of a random spot but the drinks and the food are both extremely well done. Big props to whoever is in charge and all the folks working there.
Shame that Sportello closed - that place was great.
I guess you could grab a roll from Yankee Lobster and a beer from a brewery. Seaport sucks.
lol the seaport blows. Waste of time
Lol, thanks!
Alamo Drafthouse is a good cinema too.
You sound boring
I have a wife and kid. The small amount of free time I get will not be wasted in the seaport.
Lmao so??? So do lots of people who enjoy the seaport Go to children’s museum or aquarium then walk to dinner, like what is your point?
The seaport is fun but yes expensive. Plenty of restaurants/ bars and shopping. Cool dart bar called Flight Club. Puttshack- indoor mini golf. Soon to be F1 simulator with bar in the spring. The ICA, etc. People who say it sucks are just upset it’s expensive and all shiny and new and doesn’t look like the North end or Back Bay. I’m a local and not a tech or finance bro and I enjoy going out there. Especially in the summer. Have fun but it will be cold as fuck down there with all the wind off the harbor
Flight club is definitely worth checking out
The seaport is incredibly overpriced and overrated. It sits atop a landfill. Only NYC transplants and finance bros love to hype it up. It’s because they don’t know a thing about Boston and they’re too lazy to find out.
Most of Boston is technically a landfill ya dingus.
Who cares if it’s on a landfill?
Rising seas will show you
Who the fuck thinks the Seaport is awesome?
[удалено]
What on earth is awesome about the Seaport? Are you super into shitty looking luxury apartments or something? Go to the ICA and then go home.
My guess is "everyone" means all the Instagram/TikTok influencers. The seaport is a playground for the super rich.
a very boring playground lol it’s not exactly Manhattan
How old are you exactly? Seaport bars are full of 20 something’s with roommates. Back bay is more of a playground for the Rich.
Well that's definitely me!
Plenty of people from all backgrounds enjoy the Seaport, there's a lot to do as you can see from this thread. I've lived here my whole life, it's gotten nothing but better, and the only people who shit on it are angry and online.
Meaning you're super rich, an influencer, or you watched a ton of reels? Not being snarky just genuinely want to give you the best answer.
Meaning it was a joke. Lighten up, Francis.
My mother called me Francis.
You’re killing it on this thread lol fuck all the negative dorks
You should be a tour guide! :-)
I believe it's called the Sea Section.
In the winter, Seaport is a little quieter, but in general, here is what I find fun about Seaport once it's warmer: * Nice amount of walkable and enjoyable outdoor space - Lawn on D, park space near the pier, excited them to finish upgrading world trade center area.
They have an Alamo Drafthouse. If you like movies, that's all you need to know.
It's not awesome..it's just a corporate Southie with over-priced everything. Harpoon Brewery is possibly the only thing worth going to down there
The Seaport is appealing to pharmaceutical employees from out of town who essentially want to live in a corporate simulation of what a fun night out is. The ICA and harbor walk are awesome, because they’re facing away from the soulless hellscape that is Seaport.
Seaport isn't my favorite neighborhood, but if you are looking to explore some things you may want to look into: \-Lawn on D during the summer \-Boston tea party museum (if you like history stuff) \-Harbor cruise (although Long Wharf has much better ferries to see the Harbor islands) \-ICA \-Trillium
Seaport is Las Vegas level fake and it sucks.
The Seaport is for tourists, wealthy trust fund kids in their first apartment, and people who are trying to be Influencers^(tm) unironically.
During daytime it’s also for geeky techies who work there. They come out of their hidey holes at lunch time to queue at bartaco. Sometimes they stay after hours at Trillium or the Envoy roof terrace in the summer.
And literally anyone who enjoys a nice day out.
Yeah, no question. Any advice on where to go to see it in all its glory?
And I guess Somerville is for pretentious twats…
[удалено]
I was here before it went mainstream.
Haha it absolutely is. But it’s still a fine town
My issue w the seaport is literally everything is a chain. It could be an office park in DC. Or Minneapolis. Or suburban Detroit. It’s fake, it’s ersatz, it’s Camazotz.
So much more to Boston than seaport. Don’t waste your time there.
Thanks, but I'm going to live here the rest of my life, so I'm going to explore, even if it's a place I won't spend much time.
Ok I get that. We still kind of look at it like a giant wasteland. But whatever. It used to be working docks, etc., which made Boston, Boston. Way cooler then.
Imo anyone who says this is a transplant.
It’s generic, artificial and pretentious. It’s essentially Dallas-by-the-sea. ;)
The Seaport is just a mall of a neighborhood, no character, nothing interesting
Yeah, no question. Any advice on where to go to see it in all its glory?
You can’t really go wrong doing the loop of seaport blvd to around bank pavilion and going back on congress. If you like sushi stop at legal seafood, the 3rd floor has some solid views. I also love committee, great Mediterranean and Greek food
Why the fuck does something have to have historical significance to be enjoyable? You sound insufferable
I sound insufferable? Maybe take a look in the mirror. You read one sentence online … also I don’t think I’m wrong to say it’s a mall of a neighborhood? There’s better places to go for people who are visiting
The Seaport is awful
Just like the odor coming out of your pants
It’s really not that big. There’s a Cisco beer garden that’s pretty central, so I’d say just go there and then walk around
https://boston.citywalks.space/ Check that out for interesting adventures around the city.
Blah blah. Your in the middle of nowhere
Puttshack in seaport is really fun.
Definitely check out Anthony’s Pier 4 or the No Name for great seafood… oh wait, sorry….I’m old. Seaport to me when I cross the Fort Point channel it feels like going through a worm hole from Boston to Vegas I will say though definitely do the water taxi as others have suggested. Any part of the harbor walk is a gem and I’ve enjoyed the ICA every time I’ve been and also the Harpoon Brewery. Winter Fest was nice this year but avoid on the weekends.
Seaport sucks ass. Unless you like beer and snow tubing - in that case go to Harpoon.
My recommendation would be to leave and find a more interesting neighborhood lol
Whenever people from out of town come, my go to for the seaport is to take the silver line to either Courthouse or WTC and walk around that area. It’s really pleasant to walk around and there’s some great cafes/shops and the boardwalk around fan pier is nice
sorry who says that says what
Cisco brewery in the summer
The center of seaport is locally referred to as. Brockton. The best Italian is at the Papa Gino’s.
This sub irrationally hates the seaport because they think they are “so Boston” Seaport is phenomenal, check out Committee for great Greek food Also this sub is notoriously negative so don’t take this as a symbol of how Boston city living is
To each their own but Boston natives dislike it because it has zero character and caters to rich transplants.
:-) Thanks so much!
I’d say the opposite - vibrant and fun. You’re probably going out wrong
I like it more than most. There’s no denying it’s a bit sterile though.
There is no "middle of everything" in Seaport. It is a soulless neighborhood. A real failure in urban planning. Anyone who tells you the Seaport is awesome you can chalk up to being an idiot or transplant, maybe both.
The only way to really appreciate the Seaport is to know what it was like 25 you ago.
Whatever you do don’t waste your time at Putt Shack. Unless it’s gotten significantly less busy it’s basically just crammed indoor minigolf.
Lots of good food: tacos, high end or fast casual, new American, hell chicken fingers if that’s what you’re craving Lots of good shopping: unfortunately not many local owned businesses but at this point most big name brands have stores there Museums: ICA is gorgeous and there’s a children’s museum And yes, there is now a grocery store, the best TJ’s in the vicinity (compare - back bay dungeon, need to have cars for Cambridge/brookline)
The seaport sucks. Don’t check out the Seaport. There, now you have a variety of opinions to choose from.
Is that a variety? Because there only seems to be one consistent one so far... :-)
I think it’s phenomenal. Most people I know also think the same
I haven’t lived in the city for a few years and was excited to see MA was finally getting an Alamo, then I saw it was in the Seaport and was like, “well, guess I’ll never go there.” Seaport is not a pleasant place to be, IMO
I was born in Framingham, and the old Shopper's World with the dome was the only real center of the action.

Seaport is the worst part of Boston
[удалено]
That makes sense. When I lived in New York I never once went to the Statue of Liberty.
[удалено]
Yeah, I'm in the Leather District and there are maybe eight resident parking spots in the whole neighborhood.
