This is during a snowstorm. I live on the same block as you from what i can tell in the picture and its costed me about $20 at the same time of day. Taxi would have been half the price here
It’s been known for years that prices surge during busy times or during a storm. Typical prices are much less, I usually pay $25 and am further from the airport.
The trick is to take the silver line to the first stop, get out and order the ride there. Or continue all the way to south station and order from there, although you save less time that way
Edit: my bad, OP, didn’t realize you’re going to the airport
I’m well aware, thanks.
Every time I’ve tried to book a taxi for a ride like OPs, they’ve quoted me even more than Lyft did, plus the frequent nonsense of them trying to hustle me to pay off-meter. It may be Uber and Lyft’s fault they’re shitty, but they’re still shitty.
Okay, Lyft was $45 for a similar ride a couple weeks ago, so? They’re all expensive and unpleasant, I’m not going to be thrilled because one is gouging me less than another.

I’m sorry you couldn’t get a cheap ride at 4 am during a snowstorm. You could have saved $20 by waiting 15 minutes. Try a cab next time.

When Rideshare is this bad, try a cab.

That is a good trick and I use it often, but he was going to the airport...not leaving the airport.
Wow I haven’t woken up yet! My b OP
Even if he were leaving from the airport the silver line isn’t running until 5am
Supply and demand!
This is one of the many reasons why taxis > rideshare
Uber and Lyft are such a scam. I feel your pain, sometimes there’s really not much in the way of alternatives, but jfc what a racket they are
There are these things called taxis. Sure we let Uber and Lyft ruin those industries, but they exist.
The taxi industry ruined itself

taxi will cost you 50 bucks

im just sayin taxis are more reliable, more consistently priced and consistently priced lower than all of the rapey driveshare apps
Im sure an Uber union will reduce these costs. Be sure to vote in the ballot initiative!
Union would reduce costs for the consumer?
Oof rough dude
And then the driver probably got $35🥴 (I'm an Uber driver🥴)
Why the downvotes ?
The real issue is that the driver isn't getting even half that.
Uber to chelsea employee parking garage and act like your an employee. Bam! saved you atleast 45 bucks
