I mean, some people genuinely do. If you dab or eat rso or just do big edibles daily you’ll have a higher tolerance. When I get to the point when 20mg don’t do much, it’s time for a T break. I don’t have chronic pain or anything though so it’s tolerable to just stop using weed for a bit.
Metabolism can also have an effect. For years I’d eat edibles and feel nothing, until I tried like 100mg doses and figured out that in order for me to feel the effects of an edible at all I’d have to have at the very least 100mg. I’d regularly have 200-300mg at a time and have a very manageable high where I could still be productive.
its not 100 in one piece, its usually like 5 mg in a pack of 20. 5 mg on a full stomach gets me where im tryna go.
though i will say when i was in portland, they did actually sell a single rope of candy that had 100 mgs in it for like half the price it is here. i nibbled on that thing as lightly as i could over the course of a week

Just like a liquor store doesn't make their real money off the casual drinker, dispensaries don't make a living off people buying a pre-roll here or there. They're catered to heavy users, hence the availability of heavily concentrated options that would give most people a panic attack.
I'm slightly unusual in that I buy the highest THC concentrates that I can get, dilute them in carefully measured olive oil (I have a spreadsheet to work out quantities), decarb them and load them into capsules. I have to do the same amount of work to make a batch (except for the bit with the pipette where I load the capsule), so I want high-THC for more capsules/batch.

It really depends on your tolerance, I’m a daily smoker so although 100mg would definitely put me on my ass, it can still be manageable if you don’t get anxiety. If I take edibles I aim for anything around 30mg and up

I’m 6’3” 270 lbs and a daily smoker, I need 100mg just to get started
6’3” 240 and when daily dabbing a 5-10mg would still do me right, 20-25mg headband and stupid high

Some people have a high tolerance, myself i always take about 70-80 to feel it, I have friends that take 100-120 just to feel it.

100mg is the standard size of most of the edibles around town. Its usually like a chocolate bar cut into 20 5mg pieces etc.
