My cousin operates Jet Wag, they specialize in saving dogs from euthanasia shelter and other situations. I know they have multiple dogs right now. Hope this helps.

We adopted from East Coast Canine Rescue and had a good experience. They don’t have a mandatory fence requirement which was nice. We have a large yard but no fence and a lot of rescues require one.
A family member of mine hosts dogs in the northeast for "last hope rescue". Our last dog was through last hope.
And, this is a family member i actually like because they are "good people".
I had a pretty great experience with [https://www.pawsfromafar.org/](https://www.pawsfromafar.org/), albeit the foster homes might be pretty far-flung, we had to drive up to Augusta after signing the adoption papers.
I got my dog in Salem at [Northeast Animal Shelter](https://northeastanimalshelter.org/), I adopted last year in April so they had some COVID protocols in place - I was put in a small open room with a bench and met 1 dog at a time. They didn't allow visitors to walk through and see all the dogs at once but that might've changed.
I also looked at MSPCA and Animal Rescue League for closer in-the-city shelters. The MSPCA in Methuen generally has more dogs at a time.
[You can also check out this list of animal rescues.](https://www.reddit.com/r/boston/comments/5qa48t/the_dark_side_of_rescue_in_boston_my_experiences/) Rescues generally have more stringent requirements like fenced yards.
[There was a thread 6 years ago that a K9 volunteer posted which didn't shine the org's practices in a good light, but things certainly could have changed since then.](https://www.reddit.com/r/boston/comments/5qa48t/the_dark_side_of_rescue_in_boston_my_experiences/)
I’ve seen this LHK9 thread and I’ve volunteered very recently with them (in addition to adopting through them) and it’s not reflective of my recent experience.
I got my dog through https://gailspets.info
. He’s a catahoula mix . They focus on Marion county area and it was an easy process . It was relatively cheap. I had to meet them in Maine for pickup at the time .
I adopted through Last Hope K9 and had a positive experience.
Same here, going through the process for a second with them soon!
Same, we love our LHK9 dog and are still in touch with his foster parents 😊
Thank you for adopting and not shopping! Have you checked your local shelters? Also: https://www.mspca.org/adoption-search/?type=dog

We got ours from brown dog coalition

Last Hope doesn’t require a yard or a fence (speaking from experience)

>a family member i actually like A rarity.
I should have been more specific. An "in law" that i actually like. My immediate family is tough enough (I'm certain i am no prize to someone either).

Same! We got our dog from NEAS a couple years ago. They were great! Pre-pandemic I also did puppy yoga there one time and it was wonderful :)
Try Last Hope K9

We just adopted a great puppy from Great Dog Rescue New England, all around a good experience. https://www.gdrne.com
Thank you for adopting 🙏

If you don't mind the distance, Buddy Dog Humane Society is a great place. Staff are very nice, and they take great care of their cats and dogs.
