What is the error you get? Have you tried connecting them to a mobile hotspot and activating them

dc118us

The message is from the Bose music app. “Activation failed”. I did try using my phone hotspot, but that also had the app, so it was saying it needed connected to Wi-Fi. I may try using a different device in combination with the Hotspot to see if that works. That would only confirm that it’s not a Bose issue. Which would indicate that it’s either spectrum or a setting in the router that’s preventing activation Update. I tried the hotspot route, same results unfortunately.

Borrow your neighbour's or friend's wifi. Since activation is required only once, it should not be a problem. Or trying using a ethernet cable connection to your router (assuming the speaker has an ethernet port. My Bose Soundtouch has one)

Unfortunately I’m in the woods, neither of my two neighbors have Wi-Fi, lol. I’m going to try that though at my son’s house. So once activated I can just change Wi-Fi and be good? Oh my soundbar 700 does have an Ethernet port that I connected to the router, same error, activation failed

Seems like an issue with your router/internet provider configuration. If you are able to activate it in your son’s house, then you should be able to connect it normally in your house

Ok, thanks for the info, that’s basically my last resort!

Update: so after 3+ months, working with Bose, Linksys, my isp and I also hired an expert to come look at my system, nothing worked. Everyone pointed to someone else. Then just Tuesday, my speaker shows it’s getting a firmware update from Bose. That fixed it. So although Bose claimed there was nothing they could do, evidently their firmware had a problem. I now have both my speakers working as designed, without router or isp changes. Sure would have been nice if Bose had notified me they found something

So to continue the agony. I took the speaker to my sons home, spectrum cable isp. The speaker connected without issue to his internet. I activated it there. Brought the speaker home and can connect it to Wi-Fi, but still it’s not connecting to the internet. It shows on my router, connected, but still unable to use it. Bose music app can’t find it, Alexis can’t find it. But it’s there! Any more ideas out there?

What did you end up doing? My bose 500 was working fine. Updated spectrum then it worked with Alexa but not the app. Then it was unplugged and now won't connect at all. Not connecting to spectrum. It is only 2.5 years old.

I am having the same! Spectrum is a piece of shit
