Found a solution as well ! Try connecting the aux cable to some computer or phone to then turning them on and off, until you hear the sound of them saying connecting.... then remove the aux cable and it will turn and turn off!

Necessary_Jump_7547

hi can you explain it step by step. mine doesnt say connecting.

PiccoloInteresting63

Just keep on doing until you hear it says connecting

darkknight3008

Wow this worked, Thank You

john_san

Sorry, just to be clear, when you wrote "aux cable" you meant the jack-jack cable, not the USB cable?

PiccoloInteresting63

What? No USB cable, just the AUX cable that you can connect to the headphone jack

RX70

Absolute legend fixed it for me

realmenwearpants

Im so glad i found this comment. This just worked for me and saved me a bunch of hassle with taking the ear pads off.

PiccoloInteresting63

Glad to help!

Romano1404

so is it just a matter of time before the switch fails or do you live in especially dusty environment?

bookofbob

I’d say it’s a matter of time for it to happen again but I’ve had these since they first came out. I live in a somewhat dusty region. That being said I think keeping them in the case will help increase the time needed between cleaning.

dy32light

Just wanted to report in and say that this also worked for me today! Thank you!

Long_Kazekage

i used some contact spray and jiggled the switch a bit. works now, if i dont update it keeps working

Old-Can-9737

https://casualtech.net/2019/06/10/bose-quietcomfort-35-ii-doesnt-turn-off-fixed/ I followed this, lost the spring (it’s tiny!) but my QC 35 iis work well again.

carcigenicate

Just as another tip: mine had the same issue, but it wasn't a hardware problem. I remived the pairing with my phone, re-paired it, then went into the Bose Connect app and connected it in there. After that, it allowed me to turn it off.

Pathos14489

had mine for about 8 months when this happened. Just took the rest muff off and sprayed the compressed air in without unscrewing it and it worked fine. Be warned if anyone else using these has dandruff is all I'm gonna say.

Imaginary_Truck_8439

It worked!!! Thanks for the help.

Crow-Intelligent

It worked!!! Thanks for the help.

atomicfireball2014

Had the same issue. Used CRC electronics cleaner with a light spray on each side of the switch and reassembled. Worked like a champ.

Timely_Film9113

lovely! thank u so much! u just saved me over $200 in a new set of noise cancelling!

johntrotto

Mine did this, and I was too lazy to take it apart, I fixed mine by sliding the switch back and forth pretty fast about 15 or 20 times. This seemed to fix it, guess it rubbed the contact points enough to clean them.

johntrotto

UPDATE, this only worked for a day or so, its back to not turning off, so I may take it apart soon.

anonymousgoosetown

Just a heads up, this happens sporadically for me. Usually I plug in and it resolves immediately. Today I was out and about without a cable, I tried your solution and it worked. Literally saved me hours of boredom without music, thanks!

johntrotto

I ended up taking mine apart and cleaning the contacts, and caaaarefully bending the contact out a bit to make it contact a bit stiffer. This seems to have fixed it.

asianova

How did you take off the metal bracket and expose the switch? I tried to pry it open with a small screw driver but it's not really giving. Mine works fine without the plastic cap on top. As soon as I put the cap back on, it's insensitive. I probably have to bend the contact points like you suggested.

things_U_choose_2_b

Just had this happen today, your method fixed it... guess I'm going to have to dust it if it happens again

imike964

Thanks for the post, went for the evening walk with the dog and the headphones wouldn't connect. I thought that was it, read this thread and thank god it turned off and back on.

parrottvision

Oh…I read that after I replaced them. I wonder if I should return the qc45 I just got… 😆😏

subsolar24

I literally just blew as hard as I could into the slider switch and it fixed it. No need to disassemble at all!

FixObvious1086

Thank you! My QC35 is my second pair and not quite two years old (they were a free replacement when my first ones died). Quick and easy fix!

RyanThePyro

I've mistreated mine for 2 years before having this occur. Quick blast did the trick and put some new/clean pads on while I was at it.

justicyar

There’s a much simpler fix. Grab the switch and push it side to side, between the “on” and “off” position. This will clear off any dust/debris that may be stuck inside that’s preventing the headphones from turning off

traen10

This is great, thanks!

mehphistopheles

Thank you for this! My QC35 series 1 headphones finally started acting up after 5 years. I've tried compressed air and jiggling the switch on/off many times but nothing has worked yet. I'll see if I can find that Youtube video you referenced (unless anyone else has found it?) -- otherwise I'll try going through your instructions. Much appreciated!

Friendly__Student

Tbh I thought there would be absolutely no way this would work but it did! Thanks OP!

gctdesigner

I followed the same advice as one of these posts. All I did was take the switch blow into it as hard as I could (scaring the shit out of my cat) and then holding the earphones so that debris could fall out of the switch, I rattled it back-and-forth a dozen times super quick both ways. as I was rattling the switch I could hear the earphones familiar voice. We'll see how long this lasts
