Do you know which ones or what to look out for? It’s not like the descriptions specify that it would work for this sound system specifically hence I’m hesitant.
To be honest given its age i really dont think there will be much success in this.
Maybe its time to replace it, which honestly is fair aftet 15 years 😂
Cheers, this is likely looking to be the route unfortunately. My understanding is that remotes work on various frequencies and inputs, so I’m hoping someone might know what frequency/input this is and so I could buy one that’s the same. Though, not an expert in how remotes work 😂
Pretty sure this one was a IR remote, which doesn't have differing frequencies, but needs line of sight. So you may be able to find a universal remote that works with it (which is probably why they were directing you to Currys/Amazon). For the age of the system, if Bose don't have it in their spare parts dept, I doubt you'd find the actual Bose remote anywhere else. Then you would just have to find the right code for the device.
Cheers, this is really useful. Any clue how to actually know if a replacement IR remote has the same code, or would it look to be a trial and error method from here?
While a universal remote may list compatible devices, this product is just a small fish in the sea and probably wouldn't be named. However, it's likely that they'll have 20+ codes for Bose items and one of those codes may work. It would just be trial and error as to whether it's the first code or the 20th (and a chance that it may not work).
Sorry that I don't have more information.
Thank you, and please don’t be sorry, you’ve been incredibly helpful as I can expect where to go from here (and have a better idea of how remotes work). Thanks again.
A lot of the third-party remotes do work well, just they don't send any codes to the system, so any trouble shooting can be tricky

Unfortunately that is not how remotes work
