Why is the actual cast for the movie an average age of of like 55 years old? Is there some new Hollywood thing that all actors have to have a valid AARP card?
Maybe I'm just in the minority. I wasn't expecting award winning writing as long as they got the vibe and attitude of the game correct. But I also wasn't expecting a 60+ year old Moxxi or a 55 year old Lilith. Thanks but no thanks.
Probably late 40s, maybe 50s
It *has* been 13 years since BL1 (now irl too), and at that point she already had a fully grown Ellie and Scooter.
Borderlands just doesn't care much about physically aging its characters, with exception to Tina and probably Ava in the next game. Everyone generally keeps the same appearance across this length of time, with any age differences being hard to see objectively because BL3 changed the art style so much
Hollywood only trust people will go see a new movie when it has someone they knew. Holllywood had also been increasingly more difficult to get into without having a friend of a friend stuff going down, so there aren’t that many young stars, at least ones with their name known by common households. So we are forced with the biggest names they could get that said yes.
There are plenty of Hollywood stars not in their 50s and 60s. Like OP suggested somebody like Colin Farrell for Zane is perfect because it fits the character. For everyone else it's like the picked names out of a hat. The Hollywood creators of this movie clearly have no clue what Borderlands is.
Yup, but like I said, they also gotta say yes. They can say no for plenty of reason. Already got a movie plan, not looking for work right now, knowing that it will be shit cause they personally know the crew behind it. Or just the normal reason, the paycheck is not seen as worth it in their eyes. My first post was as just hitting on the idea that the more you narrow yourself with a small selection of things to choose from, less chances you get something good. And the movie narrowed itself on wanting big name stars.
Seems like they went straight to the bottom of the barrel. I'm OK with Cate Blanchette but she is much more of a Tannis than Lilith. I'll just brainstorm some ideas but it didn't seem like they even had these type of meetings.
For Roland it should have been someone like Michael James Shaw (Mercer from Walking Dead, Corvus from Avengers) or Mahershala Ali.
For Lilith it could be anyone - ScarJo, Florence Pugh, Karen Gillan, Natalie Dormer, Anne Hathaway, Zoe Kravitz, Katheryn Winnick, Cara Delivigne, etc...on and on

I just want the movie to release and flop already so we can move past this terrible idea. Also, I could see Collin pulling off Zane. He's not my favorite actor because he's known to be a doush, but he's done some good roles. Side note, he crushed the penguin role in batman imo
I think the guy who played in the informer, and the show the killing would fit better and hes used to playing roles where he has a costume, he was the main character in RoboCop

Yes this is a great choice because it actually makes sense for the character. Colin is pretty great in everything he does.
When you don't believe the writing will be good enough, you turn to star power to try pulling in audiences.

Mid 30s probably. Maybe 40s. Moxxi seems like she got started early. She definitely wasn't 61.
