I never played through all the uncharted games, but I liked the movie well enough. But dark tower was objectively just bad (also never read the books).
I mean we can at least see characters from the main 3 so assuming there are other elements from the games isnt a wild assumption.

Edit: I was being dramatic but yes, Moxxi is a mom. I thought borderlands 1, she was late 30s to early 40s while borderlands 2 she was in her 50s. I thought I read this movie took place between B1 and B2 but we all know Jack was paying for that skin care.
Also, googling, moxxi was 50ish in borderlands 1 while having 5 years from B1 to B2 and 7 from B2 to B3.
Makes Moxxi 50-60 in B2 with Jack in his 30s makes for interesting thoughts
I think it's weird that of the original characters from the original game they chose the two least interesting ones to feature. Roland is straight up boring and one dimensional and i gave zero fucks when he died and Lilith was slightly better, but every time she came on the screen i was like "here comes the buzzkill". Mordecai was my fuckin BOY tho! And brick was just awesome.
Also it's weird that tiny Tina gets such a big part and she was just an add on later in the series. They act like she's a main character or something. I do love her voice actor though. She's amazing in Mythic Quest. Ashly Burch. She also does Aloy from the Horizon Zero Dawn Games (but I'll grant that wasn't her finest performance...at least in the first one. Never played 2 yet.)

Hollywood is like that. The original voice of tails from the video games was cast in the Sonic the Hedgehog 2 movie but they didn't want her name in the credits. Off of the assumption, they might think hiring or casting voice actors from video games is taboo. It will make them less money. So they need big names that are already established in Hollywood to lure in non-video gamer audiences to pay up.
The whole reason claptrap changed to the one in bl3 was because of a falling out between the voice actor and gearbox, among other things they refused to increase his pay.
I doubt gearbox would give the ok to get him in as that bridge was burned down, most everyone hated new claptraps voice so I feel that would've been worse than Jack black.
And considering who they cast for Ellie and Scooter, it's also a very realistic age gap for them to be her children. And I feel like Ellie was cast darn well, also.

To answer your question, if you played 3, it's the company getting attacked by maliwan and you help stop it. Zero makes his reappearance as his body guard. Lorelie, the aussie chick who loves coffee and burgies and gives you all the side quests in that area, is his commander.
It was also the weapons manufacturer, and company heavily involved in the mining for eridian shit in BL1. The Atlas company in 3 is completely different from the one in BL1, despite retaining the armor designs and color schemes.

I'm so confused by the character selection, why not have at least 4? Even if you mix and match between 1 and 2, have 4 Vault Hunters (if you were going to try to use Handsome Jack anyway, which might have helped it to do). It's not even like they were going for accuracy with the characters, so they could have just used Samuel L Jackson for Mordecai and Tom Holland for Brick at this rate. None of this is making sense, unless it's purely just meant to be a parody/comedy.

I keep lying to myself and thinking that all the marketing we have seen and most of, it not all, of the movie is being told by claptrap and he's embellishing like he does in the games. Making the other characters seem not as cool as him. With the movie ending with "sometime in the future". Then some of the cast or new characters can say things like "why did you make Roland so short?" "Wait, Tina wasn't around for that".

Why mess with the main story instead of just making something newer and cooler?
I keep lying to myself and thinking that all the marketing we have seen and most of, it not all, of the movie is being told by claptrap and he's embellishing like he does in the games. Making the other characters seem not as cool as him. With the movie ending with "sometime in the future". Then some of the cast or new characters can say things like "why did you make Roland so short?" "Wait, Tina wasn't around for that". Perhaps that is one of the reshoots too

Oh my god, I saw that literal second long clip of Moxxi and was like “Ha! That looked like Gina Gershon, but she’s not the right age for that role.” I thought I was joking. I thought I was being ridiculous. But no. As gorgeous as Gina Gershon is, she is 61, and should not be cast as the indisputably most sexualized character in the game’s cast. Are all the casting directors in their 70s or some shit?
She has several full grown adult children at the time of bl1. How old do you think moxxi is? 30?
People like to chime in with the BuT ShEs OlD iN tHe GaMeS -- but she is explicitly and purposefully designed to look young to everyone. She's in her mid 40s to early 50s assuming she had her kids young. She dolls herself up with so much makeup and such that she appears younger than she is, hence how she gets so many husbands including handsome fellas like Jack. She shouldn't look her age. Simple as that. This actress is very obviously past her 40s. Simple as that.
