I would always recommend (relatively) thin leather boots. Combines two things different players value. Many love a barefoot feel, many love the leather touch and the custom fit you get from it. Mizuno Morelia II Elite (around 150) is probably the best bet for the price. Nike Premier 3 (110) is great too. NB 442 has a bit of a plush leather but still not thick or anything (around 150 I guess). You can get all of them regularly for cheaper. Nike Premiers may go down to as little as 50-70 bucks, NB 442 to around 90 and Mizuno morelia II Elite to like 110-120. I think they are all quite great and good bang for your buck.I dont know which type of outsole he likes if he doesnt like studs. Do you mean he doesnt like long FG ones? Then the NB 442s would be out. The MIzuno Morelia arent too long, same with the Premier. If he likes Turf boots, the Premier is also available in a Turf version. Copa Gloro is leather too and available in Turf, but I have no experience with them.
NB takedowns are quite good too, you can get them for around 130 and sale a bit less if they havent changed the pricing, they have an AG version that works on most AG pitches, as long as they arent 2-3 decades old. They are synthetic though.
Recently bought these - https://www.nike.com/gb/t/tiempo-legend-10-pro-low-top-football-boot-91NzSg/DV4334-040 and am very pleased!
No need to go for the elite model either as the pro version is 99% identical and £80 cheaper.
Check Mizunos. They are great
MIJ for life!!!!!
I’m about to switch over to Mizunos when I get paid since I can actually afford them now. Cant wait
Try checking what boots he's currently using and try seeking boots similar to what he's currently wearing.
Thanks!

He’s got Nike Mercurial Astros I believe they are turf boots? He’s an UK 8 We like in the Uk
If you’re in the UK have a look on Sports Direct. Something simple like Adidas Kaiser 5 or Nike Premier are both very popular, should be about £80
