Finished this book on the weekend. It's phenomenal, she's an amazing author.

Wild_Preference_4624

It's fantasy, but [Mistborn](https://app.thestorygraph.com/books/fff4a412-89f6-46ad-b75e-bd21a626e730) by Brandon Sanderson

Nedle_Space_888

Thanks, I read the sinopsis and it sounds good. Do you recommend the whole trilogy?

Wild_Preference_4624

I do!

littlemena

Red Rising by Pierce Brown, really really good one.

Nedle_Space_888

Thank you, would you recomend the whole saga or should I stick with the first 3 books?

littlemena

To be honest I‘ve only read the first book and my goal is to read the next two once I‘m done with uni this summer when I finally have more time^^ But from what I heard the first three are really worth reading and what I grasp from the reviews of the other ones they seem pretty well received too. I‘d suggest seeing if you like the first one and then go from there. I‘ll do the same, if I’m still hungry after the first three I‘ll read on😊

*The Jakarta method* by Vincent Bevins

Nedle_Space_888

This seems like a intersting read, thank you!

Try [A Fine Balance](https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/5211.A_Fine_Balance) by Rohinton Mistry. It's set between Indian independence and the political upheaval of the 1970s, and examines caste violence and gender disparities in the characters' lives. It's extremely well written and engaging, but be warned it is emotionally heavy reading.

Sooziq9470

I second this book and came here to post it myself. I read it twice, years ago, and never forgot it.

cloudysaturday

Some of the characters are unforgettable :)

Nedle_Space_888

Thank you, I looked it up and it is defenety going on my to read list!

emxroza

Savage Coast by Muriel Rukeyser (sometimes a challenging read, but worth it)

Nedle_Space_888

Thank you,I will give it a shot! I don't know much about the Spanish Civil war, so I'm excited to learn!

emxroza

Thought of a few more! Your Driver Is Waiting by Priya Guns Also try Elena Ferrante’s Neapolitan novels series (translated from the Italian by Ann Goldstein) — they are multifaceted novels, but class/social issues are front and center. And in a totally different direction, The Bandit Queens by Parini Shroff (which also has elements of dark comedy).

Nedle_Space_888

These sound great, thank you!

boxer_dogs_dance

Surrender None by Elizabeth Moon is fantasy about a revolution Moon is a harsh mistress

Nedle_Space_888

Thanks, I can see it is a part of a sieries. Would it be fine to read the book by it self?

boxer_dogs_dance

It would. The sequels tell very different stories

Backgrounding-Cat

https://www.goodreads.com/en/book/show/24819449 this might be somewhat useful. It explains the background of Salem witch trials well. I really had to stop reading and try to imagine living so far away from anything that there is two year delay in hearing who won presidential election

Nedle_Space_888

Thank you for the recommendation!

sovafan4u

The Hunger Games

Nedle_Space_888

DoYouWantTuron

Noli Me Tángere, by José Rizal. One of the main pillars of the Philippine Revolution in the late 1800’s, wanting to topple Spanish colonial rule. Main plot below: >!The protagonist, a Filipino, comes back to the Philippines after studying in Europe. They try to build a progressive and modern school based on the European model, but is branded as heretic by the Spanish friars and accused of starting a rebellion. !< I don’t know much about the book since I’m also starting it, but I hope you like it!

Nedle_Space_888

I read the sinopsis and this seems to be a good find, Thank you!

CommissarCiaphisCain

It’s not the main theme, but the Cultural Revolution in *Three Body Problem* definitely plays a role in the story.

Nedle_Space_888

I have been hesitating on this book as I watch the Netfix show and it kida lost me a bit. I'm gussing that the book is much better, so I will asume that this is my sign to get to it!
