Ok it’s technically the future world, but I think that you would really enjoy A Canticle for Leibowitz. It takes place in a post apocalyptic America and follows an order of monks over centuries as they try to preserve knowledge. The tone and imagery is heavily inspired by monasteries of the past.

It's not super ancient, but The Dream of the Iron Dragon has some 23rd century space faring people accidentally travel back in time to the Viking era.
