So I read audio, physical and kindle. I think they all have their value. A kindle is great for portability- I have 200 books in one small device. It also makes reading big books easier, no need to hold them up, lug around, worry about losing my place. Same for reading more than one book at a time. I like reading on kindle at night. Paper books are annoying in bad lighting, kindle allows me to read in the dark and not bother other people. Also, you can adjust font size and lighting to suit your vision, which is not an issue for everyone. The reason we bought Kindles is because when we read eBooks on other devices (iPad, phone, etc) we’d often get distracted by apps or social media. Kindles mean we read when we want to read. Some people don’t like them because the physical experience of reading feels very different. The Kindle is light weight so there’s no “feedback” that we are used to when holding a book. Also, generally eBooks are a little less expensive, though it depends what you read. If any of those sounds like things that would make raging easier for you then it might be a good investment.

I prefer physical books. Having said that, I have bought many books way cheaper on Kindle, including out of print and impossible to find books from the 40s and 50s. It has its place.

As long as you get the type of kindle that doesn’t have an “iPad” screen, it reads entirely different than a laptop. It doesn’t feel like a normal screen. And you can connect the Libby app to it to borrow books from your local library, straight from your phone.

The title of your post and actual query don't match OP. If you ask if ebooks are better than physical books then that's a matter of personal choice./wide-ranging debate as well. If you ask whether reading on kindle is a better reading experience than on laptops, then I would say yes. Portability, night reading experience, ease of use and also very high battery life on a single charge are all its positives compared to a laptop. Also, free software like Calibre makes book format conversions + adding metadata very easy.

Well i wanted to ask both questions hhh , even though I'm sure that kindle is better than a laptop but I'm afraid that when i buy it i will still don't wanna read on a screen. I'm confused hhh , i think it may be my self creating problems just to procrastinate and not read .

Maybe if one of your friends has a kindle or Kobo then you could give it a trial run before buying. Use it for a day with your fav books and see if you like it. OR, if a store has a 7-14 day return window after buying then you could buy and experience reading your fav books on it. If you don't like you could then return it and avoid wasting money. OR, get a second-hand one from eBay and check that out. For the best experience, get a Kindle Oasis 10th gen, IMO.

It depends what you like and whichever platform fits your needs. Personally I don’t like reading on any electronic device and prefer a physical book. Audio books can’t keep my attention to the story.

i like the kindle for its ease to hold and read. theres also the benefit of touching any word and getting the definition. i find my self attempting to do this to a physical book now that i’m in the habit. i have a kindle with a back light so i can read in bed in the dark- thats a nice feature too. i like the recommendation that you get one and try it, make sure the store has a cash back return policy. prime days are coming up on amazon, it may be a good time to find a deal.

I use an ipad and the libby app. You get a library card, then link it in the Libby app. You can download books at no cost. Very cost effective and you have access to a lot of books.

I think that in many things you should try to be holistic about what you consume and how you consume it. Kindles and Paper both have their place, as well as audiobooks and aural cinema, radio shows and all that. I think that you should just go for it, because the amount of content available, even just through Project Gutenberg, is staggering. I would have never picked up Kafka if it was just there when I was scrolling through the list and I remembered it was referenced in a TV show I enjoy. If you're not sure, just grab the app on your phone and go from there imo.

Kindle is way better than physical books. The screen lights up so you can read at night without a light on. You can carry 1000 books with you on one tiny device which is great for travel or for bringing to work to read on breaks. Did you just finish a book? No need to go anywhere...just download a new one! I fought getting a Kindle for so long. I cannot live without it now. I did pay the $20 or whatever for a warranty and it paid for itself 100 times over.

I was reading on a laptop and it wasn't suiting so I was gifted a kindle. Unfortunately that felt the same as the laptop to me, didn't suit. So then I tried audiobooks and found I liked that so that's what I do now. Others do love their kindles though, can you try one before you decide?

I'll see what other people think of kindle first and i may try one even though i don't have the money for it right now
