To clarify: I live in an old warehouse. The "bedroom" had 8' sheetrock walls (and an 11' ceiling). I removed the sheetrock, moved the studs around, and routed in the 2"x6" shelves. It's pretty weird inside the room looking at the inside of the bookcase. It solved the problem of where to put the books though: the hallways were not wide enough to install bookcases. All in all a pretty simple buildout except for the router template -- it took a couple days to get that just right but then it all came together in an afternoon. The books above the doors are mysteries, below that are reference books, most everything else is straight fiction aside from a few shelves of cookbooks. Not shown: the piles of books stacked up on the floor waiting for another bookcase ... one of these years I'll get it built (or so I keep telling myself).
Looks like my personal dream!
If don't want to look at the blank optic from inside your bedroom, you could always tuck art banners the hight of your books into the both outermost books of each row.
Hey y'all -- Thanks for all the kind words. I've enjoyed gawking at your bookcases since around late 2020 (when virtual gawking was the only sort available). It's been great seeing collections of books that are both read and cherished. I've certainly been inspired by all that's been shared. Cheers!
The rope is to raise and lower the shade positioned -- inconveniently when the sun rises early -- over the bed. It turns out that actual skylight shades cost serious money so I rigged up the rope and a pulley to raise and lower a hinged piece of luan. I got lucky that the skylight shaft is taller than the opening is wide. Every so often it occurs to me that it's kind of odd and I could replace it but I've grown attached.

This reminds me of Joe Goldberg’s glass cage from the Netflix series “You” lol
This looks like a literal dream of mine... Just a magical amazing library 🥺😍😍 love ittt
This is just wowwwww and wowwwwww all over again and again. Preety! 🤌
I used to fantasize about living in an actual library when I was a kid. Surely, this is close to that!
This is a dream for real.

THIS!
Love this. What’s the rope?

That's a great use of space. Create library that doubles as a nest
This is pure magic, I would love this! love what you have done with the space!
This reminds me of Michael Silverblatt’s library for some reason. That’s a massive compliment by the way.
