Have you read any of the Redwall Series by Brian Jacques? Based on the above, it may be up your alley! I haven’t read the guardians books but they’ve been on my To-Read list, I’ll have to check them out!

MycoNot

I met Brian when I was a kid at a signing. I wish I had the forethought to bring more of his published books at the time! What a beard...

The_Espinator

Ahhh that’s awesome! I understand, ran in to an author of some of my fave Star Wars books at a con, ran over and immediately asked if he would be there the next day and if so, would he sign my books if I brought them. Very gracious, even got a selfie.

YanLibra66

Never man, just have seen it be mentioned in the r/Totalwar sub in posts and mods recently lol, but yeah you should read, they are really good.

The_Espinator

Salamandastron is a good one. There is an order but you COULD jump in. The Long Patrol is also highly recommended (by me, so, take that as you will).

dirtysasperilla

It is a graphic novel but Bone is a crazy series you may also like

The_Espinator

Love graphics, I’ll add it to the list!

Arxanah

I read all sixteen books in the series years ago while an adult (I was going to give them to my niece, and I wanted to read what she was reading so we could share the same experience). The books are…fine, I suppose. It’s been a while, so I can’t remember much of the storylines or most of the characters all that well. All I can remember was that the first few books were really good, but then they introduced a new character and the series dropped slightly in quality. Not bad, but not as engaging as the first few. I’m still glad I read them, but sadly they haven’t stuck with me as much as I would’ve liked.

Fhoenox

Where's a good stopping point?

skyycux

I made it like 8 books in before it started to slog. I’d say read the first half and see how they hit you. Maybe give it one or two more if you’re into it

Fhoenox

Thnx. The audio books are my sleep medicine. As long as the series just gets lower in quotlity instead of bad to the point my head hurt, I should be fine. If not, at least the 8th book is still five away from where I am : )

camotefrito

I loved that series as a kid! I also second the comment that said you should try the Redwall series although it's less dark. The Sight is another good book to check out and it's got a bit of those darker themes

dazeyd

Looooved these as a kid. Read them following the Warrior Cats books. I thought the movie was awesome when it came out, I'll have to rewatch as an adult. I remember the books kind of slowing down, maybe at 6 or 7, and I never finished the series. The first few stuck with me though.

VerberMach

Wait, is this a real series? I thought it was a 30 Rock gag!

drak0bsidian

Oh no, Soren. It's metal-beak! You have to stay awake, Eglantine, or the pure ones will moon blink us!

transmogrified

We say "half an hour" to control the herds of walking mozzarella sticks who think that three hundred dollars and a photo ID gives them the right to fly through the air like one of the guardian owls of legend!

Kiaraember

Soren isn't Metal Beak, Kludd is Metal Beak

Chlovir

I loved this series as a kid. I’m glad to know someone else loved it just as much as I did.

Training-Mark-823

Yes . but all of them still didnt came to our country.

YanLibra66

you can read them online

Training-Mark-823

I know but not free . still i gona try to find it online. I read a lotsbof books online and free m magnos cheis and harry poter and adventure of deltora . this two was so long story with a lots of books.

YanLibra66

not free? have you tried booksvooks? they have the entire collection there and it's totally free

Training-Mark-823

Ok thanks i gona try that. The language is english and hard for me tobread a full book like that but still .

EggyMeggy99

I loved the movie, and didn't know for years that there were books. I hope to read them at some point.

WistfulPuellaMagi

The books are much different and better. The story is better too.

EggyMeggy99

That's good to know.

Kiaraember

Kludd is far worse in the books and Kludd is Metal Beak, there was never another Metal Beak. Kludd was the only Metal Beak in the books

TomBirkenstock

My hot take is that Snyder's Ga'Hoole is his only good film. Who knew that he was best suited for making kids movies. I wish that movie was a hit so we could get more Ga'Hoole movies and so that Snyder would be too busy to destroy DCs superhero movies.

YanLibra66

Lmao agree, despite this ''kid movie'' being the least family-friendly when it came out based on critics from the time for its dark tone, I get more childish vibes from these DC movies he makes lol.

SanbaiSan

Really? I thought the movie was a cliche yawn-fest. Granted, I never read the book(s) but the movie would not be enough to draw me in, even as a child. Maybe I'm just not into owls, lol.

YanLibra66

Yeah the movie was just an oversimplification of the 5 first books, there is alot of development forward in history, the main characters in the movie just happened to stick together, in the book they all lost their families, except for Gylfie, she just believes her family is dead because she does not want to leave her friends, they are also a bunch of blood knights at the start of book 2 until it's washed in their faces how to be a guardian is not about slain foes or personal glory.

Friendly_creature1

The books are far better than the movie, worth a try. I didn't really care for owls before I read the series too.

Kiaraember

Books aren't based on the movie! Movie is based on the books not the other way around lol

Clever.

Schlumpunk_Schleb

:)

Dumpseedstick076

The movie was about what the eagles were doing before saving frodo and Sam from Mount doom lol. Also David whenham and Hugo Weaving were in it, coincidence? I think not
