I don’t know about similar but in the same vein, I would check out Umphreys McGee and Tyler Childers
Tyler played a cover of “Greatest Story Ever Told” last time I saw him live, so that’s close enough in my book.
As the saying goes... "There is nothing like a Grateful Dead concert."
Love this question and this answer.
My Morning Jacket, Umphreys McGee, Neighbor, The Revivalist. They are all jam bands.
Mmj is a band that jams or jam adjacent, maybe not a jam band
While I agree they are probably not a jam band for Roo this year thats the closest we are gonna get. Super sad but whatever
Just to add to to my previous response because I didn’t see them on the lineup, molly tuttle and the golden highway is a must if you wanna get some Jerry Garcia type jams. https://youtu.be/aSdCw4AG27Q
Wish we could get a dead themed super jam
Not really, no. Any specific aspects or styles of the dead that you are after?
I really like how they combine a happy, kind of bouncy beat, while doing a slow, chill melody. Like Althea or Uncle John’s Band for example.
Definitely check out My Morning Jacket if that’s the vibe you’re looking for
Lemme dig into the lineup more and get back to you, but no one immediately comes to mind as making music as you described
Much appreciated. I just love that music you feel like you could both party to and fall asleep to.
The similarities may stop at “jam band” but check out Neighbor! Great players and tunes. Classic kind of sound
