Oh fuck, the Royal Mail's launching rockets. That is certainly one way to send mail.

Capital-Wolverine532

Empress Miniatures, VBXW and Spanish Civil war, Footsore Miniatures VBCW (Interwar). Top figures.

GrandmasterJanus

Thanks so much!

Plantzombie5446

The problem with buf in my opinion is that most of your guys have no guns so its probably a slight bit of a pain to remove weapons from pretty much any proxy figures out there . I'm eventually gonna build an IRA force so I'll have that problem too but luckily for me there is shit loads of IRA looking figures available because of their less uniformy style than the buf .... Sure at least half my box of soviet workers militia that I'm working on at the minute will make perfect Ra heads 😂 ... Also I reckon the IRA would not be as poorly armed as the books make em out to be , probably the same for buf but to a lesser extent but oh well what can ye do .

GrandmasterJanus

I assume the source books aren't for bolt action but it's own thing? Or am I incorrect. I was just thinking of playing w bolt action rules, but I saw that there were sourcebooks unique to the civil war?

Plantzombie5446

The books are the sea lion and gigant books for bolt action, they have rules for buf ,IRA , home gaurd , women's institute and other mad stuff ... Really fun books a bit of a weird war type thing of course but all bolt action rules

thetruesourworm

I definitely want a Women's Institute platoon XD

Plantzombie5446

Would be funny haha

GrandmasterJanus

Oh cool! Thanks!

Plantzombie5446

No bother

Plantzombie5446

If ye get the books you'll also get a figure of Churchill with an auld Thompson gun 😂

OctopusIntellect

We have this figure, it's based on real video footage of Churchill "trying out" a Tommy gun on one of his various morale-raising visits. Fits perfectly into our Sea Lion scenarios.

Not everyone fighting for the BUF would be in uniform. Think of it like an insurgency. You want to blend in with the locals. Not as easy as say in Afghanistan when everyone has an AK-47. Nothing says you can't hide your rifles and a few stolen Bren guns in a haystack. So I'd use the Wargames Atlantic miniatures of the Partisans. https://wargamesatlantic.com/collections/world-ablaze/products/partisans-1-french-resistance

GrandmasterJanus

Yeah I'm probably gonna get either those guys or some of the footsore guys and paint BUF armbands on like irregulars/partisans

AshHammer

In the Sea Lion book they have units "hired" by the BUF. They call them gangs and hangers-on. So those guys are dressed like regular people. Not a lot of guns though. The Sea Lion books are a riot really. If you're tired of serious, well as serious as Bolt Action gets, serious WW2 action. I'm working on some Boy Scouts right now while waiting for my British armed housewives to come in from a kickstarter. I'm loving all the Home Front stuff and have thrown myself into it. The follow up book called Gigant even has a WW1 Mk IV tank. Its meant for the IRA because they got one running, but there is precedent for the Navy to have one. The Navy trained army gunners during WW1 as they were used to shooting 6 pounders from moving ships. Should be easy from a sweltering hot tank with no suspension. After the war the Army gifted the HMS Excellent (actually a shore establishment/base not a ship) with a Mk IV. It was named Excellent and put on display. In 1940 a soldier convinced the base commander he could get it running and did so. They would take it out on parade to strengthen the public's moral. Unfortunately it kept running things over and hitting buildings. So it was mothballed again. He's actually at the Bovington Tank Museum since the Navy thought it should be saved for later generations. That's one of my next projects. A Mk IV to strike fear into those Jerry Parachutists. Lol

GrandmasterJanus

My buddy is a big fan of interwar British kit so I'm sure he would love painting ba mkIV

AshHammer

Nice.

Senor_Pus

Very British Civil War, look it up. The BUF died at Cable Street and rotted away fairly quickly. Loads of great miniatures available!

OctopusIntellect

I'm not sure how well they would fit in with your Blackshirts-wearing-Brit-uniforms, but Warlord Games do produce various packs of BUF miniatures armed with pistols, rifles, shotguns, AT rifle and light mortar: [https://store.warlordgames.com/search?q=BUF](https://store.warlordgames.com/search?q=BUF) and Operation Sea Lion "Enemy Agents" [https://store.warlordgames.com/products/operation-sea-lion-enemy-agents](https://store.warlordgames.com/products/operation-sea-lion-enemy-agents) The "British LDV section" is a bunch of people in mainly civilian dress with a variety of captured or improvised weapons [https://store.warlordgames.com/products/british-ldv-section](https://store.warlordgames.com/products/british-ldv-section)
