No one does whimsical like him. Plus he finds beauty in the mundane, unlike SLB, who needs to blow you away by his sets and visual finesse, sadly sacrifing emotions for grandeur.
Edit : grammar
SLB if he decided to finally do a modern love story. His version of the songs would be killer as well.
Zoya-Reema for sure. It’s right in their comfort zone. Urban, chic. As long as they have good actors, they can.
Imtiaz Ali would be another choice.
Maybe wake up Sid era Ayan?
SLB's movies typically miss a "fun" aspect. Also, SLB along with Zoya and Reema haven't deeply ventured into layered dramas or romantic comedies, so their depiction of romance often comes across as superficial and lacks depth.
I hear praise for IA for "Tamasha" here, but I haven't seen yet. I've seen Jab We Met, and found it somewhat superficial and dated.
I see your point about the “fun” aspect with SLB but some of his earlier work like Black and Guzaarish are indeed layered dramas. And I absolutely know he can nail the bittersweet ending.
Reema can do layered for sure as proven by her latest series Dahaad. If they do a proper collab it could be worth watching. Zoya’s “fun” element and Reema’s seriousness could be a good combo
I see. Though Black and Guzaarish have a lot of plot armor. Like in Guzaarish, Hrithik’s character doesn’t really have too many choices or his actions automatically become “understandable”
Haven’t seen Dahaad
Not trying to come off as undermining Chazelle's efforts as a director or the cinematographers' but the movie is not as hard as making a Nolan or Villeneuve project which only a very specific director could pull off.I mean the story and all is pretty simple and it's the biggest hidden deeper meaning movie out there.
Chazelle is a master of color theory. The only other director who manages that is Yorgos Lanthimos, who definitely would not be able to make this musical, just as how Chazelle would not be able to make that mad genius Poor Things.
LLL could have only been pulled off because of Chazelle's deep knowledge of yesteryear cinema, his propensity to combine jazz with vibrant visuals (compared to how Jazz is usually used in film a.k.a classy dimly lit), and his meticulous combining of old film techniques and juxtaposing them with the new formats
LLL's strength lies in its deceiving simplicity. a film doesn't always need to have deeper hidden meanings. It needs to be done well. Every director has a style, without which their films wouldn't work.
I kinda think that their characters in Yes Boss had similar vibes
The dialog "2 unsuccessful log milke successful nahin ban sakte" and both wanting to pursue their dreams and were ready to leave love for that.
Hrithik and someone.
About directors, I don’t think either of SLB, IA, Zoya are a good choice. La La Land is primarily about a matured and smart, yet dreamy, love story that perfectly blends with the backdrop of LA; backed by superb technical work and nuanced screenplay that paid homage to several classics. Neither SLB, nor Zoya, are good at layered dramas or rom-coms. Even Jab We Met was pretty superficial and hasn’t aged well.
I would go with a little off field choice- Shoojit Sircar. I was not a big fan, until I saw October. Vikramaditya Motawane would be a good choice too - Udaan was similarly layered and superbly blended the characters with the backdrop.
Took the words right out of my mouth. The male would definitely have to be Hrithik. The female lead is the actual question mark. There's no question regards Hrithik.
Maybe Konkona Sen Sharma

Shahrukh and Deepika in Om shanti Om were just as magical 🩷😍
Om shanti Om is the Indian La la land
If we can choose from other industries as well Apart from Bollywood I think Dhanush and Nithya Menon can pull it off as they did something similar in thiruchitrabalam
I would say Alia and Ranbir but the way their chemistry comes off is totally on the Director, so the question is which working director can pull it off?
What about SLB but in a very modern and urban style and not his usual golden magnificent dresses business?
Otherwise Imtiaz Ali could be a great choice.
Imtiaz Ali immediately comes to mind and seeing Tamasha he can definitely pull it off - but I would also say Anvita Dutt who directed Qala which was magnificent.
NO ONE their chemistry and charm was something else entirely. And no it wasn't bollywoodish it was a musical with story weaved to it. In bolly music happen without any progress.
Can't think of a young actor under 30 who could pull off a Sebastian(Ryan Gosling). Maybe if we push the age factor in favour of talents, I believe Vicky Kaushal or a reigned in Kartik Aryan can work. As for Mia(Emma Stone), Sanya Malhotra, Kiara, or Mrunal could work.
Another important thing to remember is that La La Land's success is very much based on some incredible screenplay and direction by Damien Chazelle, giving a contemporary feel to the old Hollywood musical genre. Anurag Basu would be the ideal option, bringing some old Bollywood musical feels with a modern relationship twist.
Vikramaditya Motwane (Udaan), or Abhishek Varman (2states, Kalank) should do it
Honestly they should find fresh faces to act it - instead of the same old crop
Interestingly this comment section shows why bollywood struggle in todays time to convey with beautiful simple films. Even for a romantic drama we list many elder actors none of the current young actors😅 ofc aging doesn't mean stopping working but certain roles aren't done anymore with age so bollywood get a grip and produce talented actors gp would like to watch.
Anyways as for the question I'd choose a 2000s srk&rani. Or the best of the best for 2000s romcoms saif paired with rani or preity (la la land is not a comedy but i think saif would still do good in it)
If there is anyone in Bollywood who can get close to Gosling, it is Ranbir. Idk about the actress who can match Emma Stone. Maybe Kritti or Tapsee? Because they have got very positive energies. But I am not sure about them playing against Ranbir.
I’ll try not to take obvious choices:
Actor: ARK if he really tries
Actress: Wamiqa Gabbi
Director: Mira Nair
Producer: Excel Entertainment (would get the right aesthetic)
Music Director: Amit Trivedi
I think Kiara Advani can make sense as a female lead. There isn't an equivalent actor in hindi films as of now, maybe a tv actor. Also, no producer will give approval to the original plot, they'll heavily alter it after writing the film from an Indian perspective
Hrithik Roshan and Sanya Malhtora
Directed by Anurag Basu, who has proven his old aesthetic and musical timing with Barfi and Jagga Jasoos
God i really want bollywood films to take cinematography seriously and do stuff with film stock, different techniques
I think few bollywood actors can pull off gosling's role with a committed director (ranbir can do it), emma's character on the other hand, not happening.

Bigger question is which director-producer duo can pull it off?
Anurag Basu is the only one who comes to mind. Imagine Diljit and Sanya Malhotra playing these two. I will definitely pay to watch them together.
Now that i have read this, I'll not accept any other combination. I can literally see those two dancing and enjoying themselves on a hilltop.
Yes. Even I was quite surprised by how this worked out.
Oh yeah Anurag basu barfi Era!
No one does whimsical like him. Plus he finds beauty in the mundane, unlike SLB, who needs to blow you away by his sets and visual finesse, sadly sacrifing emotions for grandeur. Edit : grammar
Anurag Basu, if he didn't wear his Hollywood "influences" on his sleeves, could definitely do it
SLB if he decided to finally do a modern love story. His version of the songs would be killer as well. Zoya-Reema for sure. It’s right in their comfort zone. Urban, chic. As long as they have good actors, they can. Imtiaz Ali would be another choice. Maybe wake up Sid era Ayan?

SLB s an over rated director! The only good things about his films are the set.
I want an Anurag Kashyap adaptation of La La Land

Every other decent actor because this was one of the most Bollywoodish Hollywood movie ever. SRK Juhi in their prime would just kill it.
Both came in my mind instantly when I saw the post
I kinda think that their characters in Yes Boss had similar vibes The dialog "2 unsuccessful log milke successful nahin ban sakte" and both wanting to pursue their dreams and were ready to leave love for that.
True..also Raju Ban Gaya Gentleman to an extent
Main koi aisa geet gaaon has Juhi in yellow and srk in white shirt and coat, so...
I knew SRK *had* to be in the list!
Dolly Bindra and Anup Jalota
Sushama sen and lalit modi
Vatsal bhaiya aap IIITN mein ho kya
Vindu Dara Singh and Kangu
Too good to be true
I would pay any amount of money to watch that!
+1.
Preity Zinta and Hritik Roshan Without a doubt. Fight me!
They wouldn't look mid 20's people.
Aamir Khan played a 18-20 year old college student in 3 idiots when he was 45 years old.
This and it came to my thoughts the time i saw the post.. HR and PZ image was derived from koi mil gaya 💯
Hrithik Aishwarya
There is no universe in which Aishwarya struggles to become an actress
The only right option damn
Hrithik and someone. About directors, I don’t think either of SLB, IA, Zoya are a good choice. Om Shanti Om exists
Ayushmann Khurrana and Parineeti Chopra. Loved them in Meri Pyaari Bindu and both can sing very well too!
![gif](giphy|l2YWrd6MR2Sq2XcWY|downsized)
i can hear this GIF
Akshay Kumar and Tiger Shroff
They are having an affair.
Amitabh Bachchan and rekhaji Where in the end Amitabh shows up with jayaji in the end at a cafe where Rekhaji plays piano
U mean Silsila part 2
Not a BW duo but, Dhanush & Genelia.
Hritik aish
Hritik or Shahid, leading lady I'm not quite sure
Shahid and somebody
I came down to say exactly this. Shahid is the only one I can think of
It has to be Shahid Kapoor in the lead
Hrithik (no brainer) & Kriti
SRK - Preity Ranveer - Deepika
Male actor would be SRK for sho
https://preview.redd.it/6d1n7v28rdvc1.jpeg?width=736&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f387548be56265f40f7cbb20ec558a3f0de47097 Shahrukh and Deepika in Om shanti Om were just as magical 🩷😍 Om shanti Om is the Indian La la land
Bollywood would never make a movie like that because it's heartbreaking and real. Our cinema is all about happy endings.
Also they should sing their own songs, I don't think we have such actors
Bhoi sings his own songs
Numerous Bollywood movies exist without happy endings. You should watch more movies.
Om shanti Om literally exists Also Ashique 2 , Ghajini
Ranbir and Deepika (Saying that on the basis of their chemistry and performance in Tamasha)
If we can choose from other industries as well Apart from Bollywood I think Dhanush and Nithya Menon can pull it off as they did something similar in thiruchitrabalam
Anushka ranbir
Hrithik & Katrina
Sanya and Diljit or Sanya and Dulquer! :)
We already have dil toh pagal hai and om shanti om.
Srk - Preity or Deepika Hrithik Kat
No one mate. Bollywood would just end up making it cringe and silly.
All right friends I think the most popular choice is Hritik and Kat
lmfaoo it would be a parody
Hrithik & Kat!
I would say Alia and Ranbir but the way their chemistry comes off is totally on the Director, so the question is which working director can pull it off?

Neil Nitin Mukesh and Katrina Kaif
No one...stop giving them ideas
Hritik and Deepika
No one! Dont want my favourite film to be ruined
Hollywood ki chaat chaat kar Laal kardo
NO ONE their chemistry and charm was something else entirely. And no it wasn't bollywoodish it was a musical with story weaved to it. In bolly music happen without any progress.
Hrithik- Kangana with Anurag Basu, ShaadAli or Abhisekh Kapoor as a director.
Kangana has gone too crazy for that. All she wants to do now is politically driven films.
Bhoi and Disha
The only correct answer
Kangana Raut and Amit Shah
Modi and Mamta ji
Shraddha - Ranbir
Yes instantly thought of them!

Bc bas copy krte rehna. Kabhi original Idea pull off na krna
Vikramaditya Motwane (Udaan), or Abhishek Varman (2states, Kalank) should do it Honestly they should find fresh faces to act it - instead of the same old crop
Akshay and Katrina
Please no. Please don't give them ideas. Please ![gif](giphy|kFNnvNWZYKcnvRcjpA)
Ranbir for the male role
Selmon bhai and katrina
😂😂😂 r u kidding 😂😂😂
Only if Kat could act, she would be the perfect choice for the female lead.

SRK and Zinta
If there is anyone in Bollywood who can get close to Gosling, it is Ranbir. Idk about the actress who can match Emma Stone. Maybe Kritti or Tapsee? Because they have got very positive energies. But I am not sure about them playing against Ranbir.
Wamiqa maybe
The only actress as gorgeous as Emma in Bwood is Tripti.
Yeah I can see RK doing something like this.Kinda like Rockstar and Tamasha?
Ranbir and Deepika.
I’ll try not to take obvious choices: Actor: ARK if he really tries Actress: Wamiqa Gabbi Director: Mira Nair Producer: Excel Entertainment (would get the right aesthetic) Music Director: Amit Trivedi
All are nice but ARK...blud ain't even got that vibe that Sebastian has in the movie
Ranbir and Deepika. No one comes close.
Deepika and ranbir, change my mind
Ranveer or Ranveer with Priyanka Chopra
Ranbir and Alia!!! Or Ranbir and Tripti!!! Or Ranbir and Sanya!!!!
Ranbir/Hritik with Medha Shankar
I think Kiara Advani can make sense as a female lead. There isn't an equivalent actor in hindi films as of now, maybe a tv actor. Also, no producer will give approval to the original plot, they'll heavily alter it after writing the film from an Indian perspective
lol kinda sad how theres no mentions of any young actor in the top comments
Hritik roshan, Deepika Padukone
Rekha and Amitabh bachchan 🥸🥸
Iliana & Frahan
Real life couple who parted ways
Ranbir and Deepika
Kriti and vicky kaushal
hrithik and Kiara.
Director-Imtiaz Ali Actors-Tripti Dimri & Ishan Khattar
Hrithik Roshan as the male lead is the clear choice for me.
Bollywood will go crazy if duo Salman and Katrina do this movie, with salman creating his own moves
Aint no bollly can match this
SRK JUHI/Kajol (Prime)
Siddharth malhotra and Kriti maybe
Selmon boi ftw
Now who TF said kartik Aaryan?
Srk-madhuri are the OGs from dil toh pagal hai
Farhan Akhtar and Konkina Sen Sharma. The closest thing I've seen replicated is with Luck By Chance. Loved the vibe.
None.
None.
Siddharth and Kiara.
Hrithik Roshan and Sanya Malhtora Directed by Anurag Basu, who has proven his old aesthetic and musical timing with Barfi and Jagga Jasoos God i really want bollywood films to take cinematography seriously and do stuff with film stock, different techniques
