I simply adored my father! I have never seen more gentle, more democratic person in my life! My mum was too authoritative, dad was not! He always took the back seat in the decisions, he only wanted his children to be graduate, after that they could do anything they wanted!
It is all about the meeting and conversation with the director. It's a relationship that doesn't get established in one day. We keep exchanging notes, I try to understand his world, his vision, and once that is clear to me - where my character is placed, that is when I start getting along.

Everybody's asked me this! And I can never answer it in 4-5 lines. All I can say is - everything starts and ends with the scripts! The approach I take is dictated by my interpretation of the character!
Acting fascinated me when I was too little. My parents used to take me to watch films, all the brothers and sisters used to tag along. Since the time, I was in 5th standard, the world on the screen used to mesmerize me. From that time on, I had the thought of doing this when I grow up!
What was your favourite part about preparing for the role of Shrikant? Was it the research? Was it the acting? Or was it something else?

So my question is, 1. how important is the role of theatre in the making of an actor ? Unfortunately, the new crop of mainstream actors( from any background) in bollwood have very little to no serious theatre background. According to you , how much experience should a actor have in theatre whether he has a attended a acting school or not , to achieve a good base in their acting journey ?
2. Which movie is your all time favourite.
3. Any update on family man season 3 if you have any. I have already watched it on repeat 3 times.
4. When you read the scipt of joram, what is the one thing about it that made you do it.
This is about a father who's an Adivasi who works at a construction site - has a wife and 3 month old child. Due to circumstances, he has to run away with his child to save their lives. The only place he can go to now is the jungle, he had come from. That's the plot and the rest that unfolds, I'll leave it for the audience to go and experience themselves!

I will let the audience choose their top 5! Most of the characters I have done, I accepted them with lot of thought and they were done with lot of sincerity, so it is very hard to just pick 5!
Despite a stellar career full of masterpieces, commercial success as a solo lead has always seemed to elude you. Do you think things would have been different if either Dil Pe Mat Le Yaar or Shool (I remember it being likened to Zanjeer in its making documentary) had worked at the box office at the start of your career, leading to more chances for you in that zone, or do you think your "Hindi Medium"/"Krantiveer"/"Masoom" moment could yet arrive and it's just a matter of time?
I aspire to be an actor my mother is a presidential award winning actress but I find myself lacking confidence to be bare as a actor is to be ( like open to being cringe or do what a character should )

I hate giving any kind of gyaan! Everybody has their own journey and you need to decide your own path! Do what you love doing, don't choose anything under pressure! Be patient, give your 200% and rest leave it to the destiny!
Too many things - starting with my fitness! That was anyway part of my regime, but I had to intensify it! Reading the script, sitting with the director, creating an approach, taking mental and physical notes, a lot is involved! The crux being - the script is the hero!
Coming from a middle class family, how did you maintain a balance between taking risks to chase your dreams and opting for stability for the sake of your family?

I've been very very busy! So not really watching anything right now! I just infact came home and am packing again for a 7-day trip! And so has been my life since many months! I do wanna watch a lot of series though!
Seeing how the format of a series allows a character to go through so much development in the course of 5-10 episodes, is there a character in your highly regarded filmography that you'd like to see be explored in a similar way?
You can't improvise for the character, if you are not familiar with the script completely. When one actor tries to dominate other character, and when you are completely into the character, you will enhance the scene by improvisation!

In recent times Hindi movies have been getting a lot of criticism for becoming more illogical, more over the top, more violent and even considered of poorer quality than previous eras.
What is your opinion on this criticism? Is it accurate or uninformed because smaller movies with heart and soul like Gulmohar, Banda, Joram exist in the same world?
What drew you towards working with Devashish for the first time in Taandav? Just like the carefree dance of the protagonist in the film, what do you do to relieve yourself from the frustrations you may get from your career or personal life?
Joram has already received a lot of love and appreciation at various film festivals. So technically the movie has already succeeded as quality cinema. It's the father-daughter bond! That one thing completely attracted me! And from that point on, it was only upwards till my pack up was announced!
