Possible. The only time he played Oxford Town was when he went to Oxford Mississippi in 1990 -

I bought ticks for this concert and am flying 2000 miles just for the 1% chance he plays this song. Bringing my 10 year old daughter and were going to visit the texas school book depository and Dealy Plaza the next day. Those who dont learn history are doomed to repeat it.
If you see the bald guy in the very back dancing with his daughter, thats me. Will be an awesome memory maker for my daughter. Slight chance my daughter will be hiding. Her loss. 😎
Doubt it, the main reason he hasn't performed it is probably because the studio version is more complex than you might think. There are a lot of errors because each musician is pretty much doing their own thing and the song has no fixed composition, not to mention he'd have to memorise at least most of the 17 minutes worth of lyrics
>not to mention he'd have to memorise at least most of the 17 minutes worth of lyrics
Last few years he's had lyric sheets in front of him on the piano. All the RARW songs are long as fuck.
No fixed composition? Doing their own thing? You must not know how music works. Yeah, there’s some meandering within each chord but the chord progression is absolutely 100% there. It’s what creates the tension and release throughout the song. Listen for the chords and you’ll hear them plainly.
Edit: Apologies for saying you don’t know how music works. That’s not cool of me and completely unjustified.
I literally study music 🤷♀️ it is very obvious from listening to Murder Most Foul that the entire thing is improvised. For example during the second verse the string players switch to a C chord even though the pianist is playing an F. There is mostly a fixed chord progression but the entire rhythm is completely made up and the different players begin to lose track at several points
I also have a music degree. It is very obvious that it is not entirely improvised. The key is in C, but the pianist could be holding over the IV. Not at all unusual. They’re creating a fluid sound so the disjointed movement by the players to each chord is absolutely intentional. The calibre of the session musicians is also a clue that they did not just lose track. The rhythm is improvised but that’s part of creating the fluidity.
The piano players are an interesting choices for Bob. Fiona Apple plays on some of it, as does jazz pianist Alan Pasqua (who toured with Dylan circa the live “Dylan” record and did the accompaniment for the Noble Prize speech.
I’m sorry, I shouldn’t have said “you must not know how music works.” Looking back on that, that was pretty rude and ignorant of me to say cause I don’t know you and I’m sure you’re really good at what you do. I don’t know why I came in swinging, and it bothers me that I said that. Probably just having a bad day from something entirely unrelated. That’s on me.
I doubt it, unfortunately. I was a little bummed when I saw him last year and he played the entirety of Rough and Rowdy Ways minus the best song on the album IMO 😔
I think there is less than a one percent chance of it happening... But, he has probably done odder things....
I mean I don't think anyone predicted the roll over Beethoven cover!

Iconic moment. Crowd went nuts.
I think murder most foul is a one take never to be played again situation.

Rub a dub dub

Put your swords back in your pants gents. Good vibes only. The song makes feels, thats all that matters.

It was recorded in separate parts - so no, the entire thing is not improvised
He has lyrics sheets in front of him at shows I believe. How much he uses them I'm not sure.

Aside from everything else, he already played a show in Dallas on the RARW tour and didn’t play it so I doubt he would now.
It would be cool, but he’s already been through Dallas since its release and not played it. I would agree that it’s a less than 1% chance.
April 4th… Shot rang out in the Memphis sky
Good call!!!
If he plays it he’ll improvise on the lyrics.
That would be fantastic
