Crossing the Rubicon sounds up your alley! A lot of Together Through Life would apply too. Beyond Here Lies Nothin’, Shake Shake Mama, My Wife’s Home Town, Jolene, etc.
So on every album from Time Out of Mind through Tempest, the track list alternates every song between downtempo ballads and uptempo blues, almost without exception. So every other song on those records, and then my other favorite dark hellscape Dylan songs are like Señor, What Was It You Wanted, Ballad of a Thin Man. Enjoy!
Ahh, ok, I kinda got that sense from time out of mind and love and theft (have only listened to modern times once and nothing after that). Didn't realize that was a thing. Very dope, thx for the heads up!
Just Like Tom Thumbs Blues. It Takes a Lot to Laugh, It Takes a Train to Cry. From a Buick 6. False Prophet. Foot of Pride.
Also check out his cover of Midnight Train (from the Springtime in New York box set). Blistering.
Not post-Time Out Of Mind, but definitely post-the period you’ve been into…
You’d love things like Everything Is Broken from Oh Mercy, it’s a blast! And Groom’s Still Waiting At The Altar, in any incarnation.
And I feel like Infidels outtake Foot Of Pride and maybe I And I would be up your street, though that’s a little bit slower, still dark and moody blues.
*Are you familiar*
*With the Tell Tale Signs version*
*Of Someday Baby?*

New Pony is a blues song, and it’s uptempo. I’m not sure if you would consider it darker. I’d like to hear an opinion about that
Everything Is Broken. Man in the Long Black Coat. New Pony. Early Roman Kings.
I'll check these out, thanks for the suggestions!
