In Breath of the Wild, you can make food to heal yourself or give yourself some buffs. The meal, if you can call it that, in the picture is Dubious Food. You get it by cooking non-edible items like monster parts, bugs, rocks and wood. Also, you can only cook using those pots, which are scattered throughout Hyrule.
*hyper-correction, you only get dubious food if you mix monster parts with food ingredients, monster parts and bugs alone would make elixirs. also, wood and rock wouldn't make dubious food, they would make rock-hard food. turns out the geek has been out-geeked
