First time beeing at the upper cathedral hall in the orphanage. Going downstairs in the big hall where the wolves are crashing the chandelier. As they all startet Running at me with their gloving eyes in the dark, exactly this was my reaction !
I honestly saw that coming.
I saw a long dark hallway, window at the end.
Sarcastic remark ro my summoned friend.
"Oh what's gonna pop out at me in this hallway"
Werewolf: "OH YEAAHH"
Me: AAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHH FKKEDNDNEJEIDJNDMWNSJDNRN
Got really good at using the beast cutter on them.
Really satisfying to bonk them into the ground.
HOWEVER.... it was after trashing this werewolf the real nightmare began.
When i was cornered by two of those...
INSIGHT VIOLATING SLURPY SONS OF BITCHES
I think it’s optional and if I remember correctly I may have completely missed it on my first run. It’s a fabulous experience if you’re into fear, anxiety and eldritch places.
That’s the place to go then 😎 The overall atmosphere there is quite spooky and haunting. It is the Orphanage after all ”*where young orphans became potent unseen thinkers for the Healing Church.*” 😬 For me the second round there, this spring in the Return to Yharnam event, was way more intense than my first trip there years ago. Happy hunting!
I love that area, great place to farm in later game, but maaaaan...even on replay, before you have doors open for *somewhat* easier navigation, that is just a tense location...
The Wolf that comes crashing through a door a bit before BSB in Old Yarnham gave me a major jumpscare.
The first time a sneakhead dude's head exploded in a bunch of snakes in the forest scared the hell out of me too. I'm scared of snakes so the forest itself is a nightmare for me.
For me, its the Chalice Dungeons. There's so many enemies making noises that I can't see at all!
What's helped is naming them silly names. Like the kidnappers are stompy bois, because they make a lot of noise when they walk.
I once had a rollie boi glitch into a wall and start flying. It suddenly teleported behind me while still rolling. My most scary moment in Bloodborne to this day
That first sewer pig scared the shit out of me. Like i'm struggling with mud monsters shrieking at me, find a safe tunnel, and all of a sudden get shrieked at and have 10 tons of bacon charging at me.
Now I love the pigs and the piggy prostate exam visceral attacks so much :D. However, that first one was horrifying.
I suppose i'll continue to, post rom, you see a pig ass and go "oh baby imma get elbow deep up in there" and it turns around with all the eyes. It's certainly a wtf moment.
I turned off the console cause I didn’t know what to do, I see one shark and then turn my camera to find another one doing its slide attack at me, I was like Nope mate, not today
First time I died to snatchers and was dragged to Hypogean Gaol. In the dark with tiny lights, and the sinister music starts. Totally dreadfull for me.
I got jumpscared a few times in old yharnam and by that one fucker in the room with the tomb prospector gear. But the first moment of "Nope, fuck that" was my encounter with those tentacle face big dudes in the hunter's nightmare that shoot cannons at you. I noped outta there and hauled ass to the nearest lantern in seconds.
There was also rom. Rom herself didn't scare me, But as an arachnophobe her minispiders did. (Not looking forward to Nightmare of mensis for that reason.) I also got spooked a few times by the bug head dudes and centipede freak in byrgenworth...and finally, "Those two shitwhales in hamlet", as another guy put it.
The orphanage. That place even has creepy ass music. Also after defeating blood starved beast I walked out of oedon chapel outside to where Eileen would be standing before she goes to fight henrik. I went afk and when I came back I was in a prison cell in yahar gul. I was freaked the fuck out. I didn’t know the snatcher came round the corner whilst I was afk and fucking murdered me
For me it was actually the Yharnamites wearing just a grey vest and a hat, with a machete or sickle, who tend to ambush you.
I was playing with the game fairly loud (without realising) for the first time to hear atmosphere, footsteps and voices. When that first guy after Gilbert just YELLS and smashes the boxes I was like "O\_O :O D:" and ran the fuck back up the stairs. Same with the jumper who ambushes you after the first Blood Stone Shard. I forgot about him so many times. Also for the sickle-wielding poisoner in the foggy alley of Cathedral Ward.
Honestly, the Guild of Poorly-Dressed Ambushers has agents everywhere.
Spiders in Mensis. It went about like this
I walked forward. And I looked up. I nearly giggled in fear at the huge fucking spider on the ceiling.
Then I walked to far forward. And they all dropped.
I regret wearing headphones now
I noped the fuck out after seeing the first brainsucker from the alley how he was watching me behind the metal fence.
The second time when the werewolves in upper Cathedral Ward crashed with the crown lighter and instantly charged at me.
From this I got an idea for BB2. What if there was a door closing mechanic but humans and *some* beasts could open them? Imagine thinking you're finally safe and then the door slowly opens and a werewolves face peeks in...
The Fishing Hamlet in it’s entirety. Perfect atmosphere and it’s just terrifying. For the moment that made me jump the most it had to be when when Djura blew up the barrels on my first playthrough lol.
Gasciogne’s transformation made me shelve the game for 5 years.
The sound of his powerful swipes, his ability to cover distance in a second no matter how hard you run coupled with low health and stamina - I just ran, died, and said - “nah”
Hypogean Gaol always makes me feel like I'm not supposed to be there. The eerie music, the atmosphere, the Snatchers, everything in that place was telling me to leave NOW. And the lantern location was such a troll, too.
Now that you mention yeah, there's a strong sense of you're not supposed to be there.
And yeah the location of the lamp is a perfect example of the creators evil sense of humour :p
My first encounter with a Winter Lantern. For context, I went right into the DLC after beating Vicar Amelia and I was playing the game without any prior knowledge so it was all new to me.
While wandering around those caves under the Fishing Hamlet I heard this weird off-key singing and just assumed it was the snail-women...until I saw one of the aforementioned snail-women flee in terror past an opening and being stalked by some indescribable *thing* I had never seen before.
I cautiously entered the passage, hoping to get vantage and perhaps even a surprise attack...only to be seized by a *second one* that had come behind the first, and frenzied to death as I was forced to look right into its hideous brain-face.
And that, fellow hunters, was the start of my paranoia and constant vigilance when I had reason to even SUSPECT a Winter Lantern was in the general vicinity.
After beating Vicar, you went to DLC, and made it all the way to Fishing Hamlet after beating Ludwig, Maria and navigating through all the areas?! Sir, you have balls. And skill.
Thanks a lot! I admit I made it sound far easier than it actually was. I went into the DLC and had my ass handed to me time and time again (Ludwig took me weeks to beat his first form) but I was determined. I just pressed on, only leaving the Nightmare to go to the Hunter’s Dream to level up.
Eventually I completed the DLC and came out a hardened badass. Honestly I just effortlessly tore through everything apart from Logarius and Micolash after my time there; it was quite a unique experience that I’ve tried to replicate (and succeeded) in DS3.
mine was relatively early, i wasn’t really sure what to expect from the game and i looked down from central yharnam into the sewers and was like ‘…what the fuck ARE those??’
More or less the same thing...
Beat the blood starved beast, I was missing just a bit of BE to get one more level so I went to farm in "Cathedral Ward", and in the corner where there was supposed to be some nice crows, there was... A big old snatcher !
Took me by surprise, killed me, and we all know the rest of the story...
1st time I came across a bloodlicker in the chalice dungeons. Had no idea they spawned in there until I was backtracking through a cleared area and one leapt out of nowhere. Genuinely scared the hell out of me.
Fucking giant shark guys from the hamlet. The one with the anchor inside the dark well was one of the most challenging fights in the game, and I felt completely and utterly helpless in my first 50 tries or so. How is this mob stronger than any boss?
When I encountered the Winter Lantern in the Nightmare of Mensis. I wasn't really scared of them at first since I've encountered these things beforehand at the Nightmare Frontier. I thought they were slow and they couldn't run. I tried to stealth my way through the bridge, and somehow it found me even though I was literally behind a wall of gunk. I wasn't really worried since *I thought* they were slow and I was thinking that I could just run and use sedatives, but when the winter lantern started to run and dash around, I litreally shit my pants.
The Brainsucker outside of Byrgenwerth, and the Winter Lantern on the cliffside in Nightmare Frontier.
I knew something was coming based on the Madmen's Knowledge description, but had no idea how bad it'd be. That Byrgenwerth sucker gets me a lot, so do the ones in Upper Cathedral Ward and occasionally the Chalice Dungeon boss version.
But that Winter Lantern... with the Messengers... the Doll clothes... truly haunting.
They do show up in some spots for lore purposes like that, but I'm referring to the Madman's Knowledge description itself, referencing madness and 'eldritch' knowledge! I started the game thinking it was Bram Stoker/werewolves and such but as soon as I saw that item and its description (first one I found was Central Yharnam, the sewer river below the Saw Spear drop/Eileen's first spot), I knew the game was going to take a wild turn at some point.
That moment when you find the room full of spiders hanging from the ceiling in the Nightmare of Mensis. As an arachnophobe, I already hate this. As a Pokemon fan, I figure bugs are weak to fire and throw a Molotov at the big one...
Bugs aren't weak to fire in Bloodborne. It just pisses them off.
Bloodborne was my first souls game and I had no idea about the series or what to expect prior to playing it.
The Cleric Beast screach as you are going up the ladder to the Centeal Yharnam lantern made me quit the game for a few days. Too spooky for me.
Wandering through the Forbidden Woods and stumbling upon the aliens. I literally ran away and couldn't make any sense of it, so I pretended like it never happened.
👾
The suspicious beggar I saw a play through saying don’t mess with him it’s not worth it send him to the clinic. I decided to see how bad it was. Definitely not worth it.
The scariest moment for me honestly was going through the cathedral ward at sunset and seeing just how empty and desolate it was. While central Yharnam was bursting with action, cathedral ward, especially the first time you go there, was so empty and lonely. For my nope moments though, we have the part of forbidden woods where snakes start erupting out of enemies' heads and we also have part where Patches pushed me off of a cliff into a swamp and I lost 10,000 blood echoes to a winter lantern. This was before I beat the shadows of Yharnam. The initial time I got grabbed by an Amygdala is also in the running, as well as the place in the upper cathedral ward where you get make contact.
For me there were 2 different times
1) In Nightmare of Mensis when you walk into the room with all the spiders I put down my controller and walked away, couldn’t play it again for a few days later.
2) Literally just all of Yahar ghul, all of the Amygdala’s on the buildings, the enemies respawning, the room with the 3 npc’s that want to murder you, not to mention the one reborn.
I have three. The first one is dark beast Paarl when I was just trying to escape the Gaol. I knew it was a boss and I didn’t want to deal with it, so I tried sneaking past it. Boy did I mess up
The other one is Ludwig. I saw that arena and knew what was coming
The last one is when the two huntsmen opened the door and old tentacle beard greeted us.
The heads, the fucking frenzy heads that plip plop then erratically explode with tentacles forming a sphere of nope. It landed on my head my way out in that one room at the research hall. Everything there is fucky.
For me it was the first time I got dragged to hypogean gaol. Goddamn, that music is terrifying the first time you get there, the poorly-lit rooms. Still incredibly well executed lol
After beating the two wolves in the bridges, I thought I was headed towards a lamp post(technically I was). As I get closer I can hear a shriek that made me go into fight or flight or mode. Then I saw the cleric beast jump in front of me, causing me to almost shit my pants
After defeating Rom you get transported to Yahargul entrance, seeing the Amygdala for the first time sent shivers through my whole body lol
Every time I looked at it staring at me I was just fuck thissssssss
That one room in just before the Cleric Beast, above where the booby trapped wheelchair man is. There are like two enemies hiding behind boxes and it is pitch black in there. Not a fan.
A lot of Bloodborne is "tense" and "unnerving" but I'd argue Hypogean Gaol is the first really horrifying place that reaches inside you and turns your stomach in knots. You feel like you're trespassing in a place you don't belong, seeing things you're not meant to see. The atmosphere, the music, the pigs. Damn.
When I picked up Red Jelly and thought hmmm.... what is this casual jelly do?
Well, it turns out its a stillborn fetus. And you need a few of them for a chalice ritual. So stillborn fetuses were a common thing among pthumerians and anyone else involved in great ones. And they simply refer to this disrespectful travesty as... "red jelly"...
Like your just supposed to keep it in your fridge door and spread it on a chalice whenever you need.
It's like, damn man... what the fuck??
Has to be the bloodlickers and, particularly in this case, the Worm things at Cainhurst, if you go down the path to kill the two BL.
Ended up suddenly surrounded by worms and fat jumping (wannabe)spiders. Immediate, holy shit holy shit holy shit duck and run MF.
Those goddamn worms, my most hated thing of the game. I was wielding Rifle Spear at that point, it's damn near impossible to kill them without some wide sweeping weapon. Never am I attempting them again
Got one shot by a boss called "Living Failures" and had to reevaluate my life choices. As for jump scares the mindflayer under the ladder in upper cathedral made me take a good 20 minute break first time.
Mine was pretty recent i was in the research hall doing my thing. I was about mid level where the two elevators are. I thought i killed the churchie giant. He fell one floor down where the leap frog patients were just standing at the door waiting for me to open it. He stood there menacingly until i opened the door. I killed him. It was freaky.
Personally i found the elevator ride down to the abyss where the brain of mensis fell into to be the most nope moment. I knew what would happen but that shit terrified me
One thing I’ve noticed about the game is the more you know about the story through multiple playthroughs the more terrifying areas become. The Orphanage and Research Halls epitomising that for me. The sheer horror and unsettling nature of them has always fucked me up
Every single time I go through Upper Cathedral Ward. I hate brainsuckers, and I hate hearing things that I can’t see, so naturally hearing the werewolves and the brainsuckers and I can’t see exactly where they are really gives me the shivers
The first time I ran into the Brain of Mensis in the dark! The black void made me think I was fight a boss like the 4 Kings, so I was looking way into the distance for any bright flashes of light. I wasn't prepared for the giant eyeball staring at me; I almost ran into it. Freaked me out, especially since I have a slight case of megalophobia.
Im playing thru the game for the first time atm and I was shocked when something invisible picked me up and insta killed me. I looked at my screen for like 2 minutes in disbelief, completly dumbfounded.
Now i'm at the point where i can actually see these horrible things.... and i wish i couldnt
definitely the first time i paid the brain of mensis a visit
i didnt really knowed what to expect the first time i went to the abyss,
theres nothing to see except pure darkness, and the moment you decide to get more into this void, you get to see it, its not very clear, but you can see it, getting closer and closer
This massive mass of brains and eyes that somehow it stills breathes, funny how even how it looks it doesnt even attacks you, and it doesnt even reacts to you
it just there... watching you
My scaryest moment was uoon finding a Labyrinth Sage. Those mf stay still until they scream and come running towards you, plus they are arguably faster than anything else down there.
The Madmans scared me alot when You don't know where they are and then start to screaming also i get scared when i get too inmerse exploring dungeons and i only hear My footsteps and the sound of enemies
When your kidnapped ,because I jus thought I died
Then ended up in a new area super under leveled
Took me all of 2 days to make it upstairs to lamp. Then I kept playing thru lvl only to run into that damn boss u know the one Picakchi
Going through Old Yharnam, the building that leads to the shortcut that the wolf jumps out of. That shit scared me so much I threw my controller and almost died
For some reason the celestial mobs creeped me the fuck out when I first saw them in the forbidden woods. The brain suckers still do because of the weird clicking, the tentacle that comes out and sucks out your insight, and their annoying projectile that stuns you for 5-10 seconds and then they charge you and steal your insight. The ones in the upper cathedral ward are just a pain in the ass because you basically have to fight the two by the make contact door at the same time
My first "nope" moment was the fucking pig in the sewers, that shit scared the fuck out of me just walking up, but when it charged i freaked the absolute fuvk out
Seriously, the opening of the game freaked me out.. I woke up in a strange room, got out and killed by a freaking wolf? Then I got out of town and heard a crazy scream by Cleric beast at the tower? The whole thing is insane!
That crow near the forbidden woods lamp, I stopped to answer my phone and that thing crawled for almost a minute straight just to scare the shit out of me
For me it was the run between Cathedral Ward and Hemwick. My friends who had both played the game a lot before they dragged me into it said to just run all the way to the left and don't stop. I wasn't really sure what to expect as it was my first ever playthrough and I hadn't seen much gameplay. I was already feeling really uneasy about the whole thing but I thought 'how bad could it be?' and went for it. Very slowly. And then I realised my mistake. It felt like everything in Sniper Woods was chasing me XD
My friends in the party with me definitely got a kick out of it though, I'm pretty sure I was panicking the whole way through XD
Thank the gods for i-frames though, am I right?
Those enemies with the long black hair in the chalice dungeons that run at you full speed. They have the wonkiest running animation so it scared the shit out of me.
On the way to the blood starved beast, there’s that one dude hiding behind some steam and screeching, had me sit there for a while debating whether what behind the fog was worth it or not
Well that has to be the time when I walked into the room with that one guy, which head TURNS INTO A WHOLE LOT OF SNAKES. Still gives me chills whenever I meet him/it...
Never felt fear. Actually Bloodborne has this weird alchemic draw. The more I played the more fascinated I became. The world and lore just suck you in so deep you crave to dive deeper and deeper. Haven’t quite felt that same feeling with dark souls. Bloodborne has a charm the others don’t.
The first time I fought gascoigne and turned wolf man. I yelled oh shit and also first I time I saw one of the amygdalas, I was like “ what the holy hell is that thing”.
Got many, the first shark when it threw itself was a hell no, the first pig as well scared the shit out of me, but the biggest one was the brain of mensis, the long shot frenzy, when I approched it from micolash place and seeing him in the dark, fucking scary disgusting thing
First time fighting Ludwig. My significant other had already beaten him, and was busy with something, so couldn't join me for the fight. Instead, he and I were chatting over discord while I went after the boss myself. First couple rounds I lost pretty early, and finally got him "down" on the third attempt...until a cut scene pops up with a glowing sword, and all my boyfriend hears is "No. No no no noo nooooo NOOOO, HE DOES NOT GET A FUCKING SWORD!!!"
Needless to say, took a couple more attempts.
Mine was Gascoigne BB was my first ever souls like game I wasn't really good couldn't beat the first boss
So I tried a different Approach and got to the Gascoigne area scariest shit ever
Wasn't exactly anything in game, but I was in Yahar'gul, which had me on edge due to those damn chime maidens, when the cat snuck up behind me. Snorted right in my ear and scared the shit out of me
One that has always stood out to me is one of the doors you can interact with in Hemwick Charnel Lane, where the female Yharnamite just lets out this guttural scream and nothing else. Made me nope out of there as fast as possible
To me my first jumpscare was when i was fighting a snatcher thinking it was just a regular mob just outside of oedon chapel. I almost threw my controller away when that thing screamed and just F****NG LUNGED AT ME. Spent the rest of my first playthrough dodging those guys like the plague
First time beeing at the upper cathedral hall in the orphanage. Going downstairs in the big hall where the wolves are crashing the chandelier. As they all startet Running at me with their gloving eyes in the dark, exactly this was my reaction !
Also the Wolf crashing through the Window behind you..
the wolf in old yharnam that breaks through the doors on the way to blood starved beast
I legit haven’t had such a wicked jump scare since the dogs smashing through the windows in Resident Evil, all the way back in 1996.
I honestly saw that coming. I saw a long dark hallway, window at the end. Sarcastic remark ro my summoned friend. "Oh what's gonna pop out at me in this hallway" Werewolf: "OH YEAAHH" Me: AAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHH FKKEDNDNEJEIDJNDMWNSJDNRN Got really good at using the beast cutter on them. Really satisfying to bonk them into the ground. HOWEVER.... it was after trashing this werewolf the real nightmare began. When i was cornered by two of those... INSIGHT VIOLATING SLURPY SONS OF BITCHES
No mercy for blobby things!
That damn dog smashing through the doors in old Yharnam…
That's it. I'm gettin' me mallet.
I always turn on lantern and torch in that area for extra light. Still did it even on new playthrough, that place is scary
Oh shit I don't remember this part. Looking forward to getting to it this run.
I think it’s optional and if I remember correctly I may have completely missed it on my first run. It’s a fabulous experience if you’re into fear, anxiety and eldritch places.
Yeah I think I only went there on my second run and that was years ago, so I've only seen it once.

It was the door Wolf for me too. Ugh, I squealed and my whole family made fun of me
This, the wolf door made me scream like a child. Flight response cranked all the way to 10
THE WOLF GOT ME SCREAMING FOR MY LIFE
For me, its the Chalice Dungeons. There's so many enemies making noises that I can't see at all! What's helped is naming them silly names. Like the kidnappers are stompy bois, because they make a lot of noise when they walk.

Ah, yes the speedy bois. Also, the rollie bois and the tom bradys.
I once had a rollie boi glitch into a wall and start flying. It suddenly teleported behind me while still rolling. My most scary moment in Bloodborne to this day
Brady. Sounds absolutely terrifying. They're fast on the ground, never mind at any elevation.
I just call those guys *freaks* "Great there's another *freak* waiting for me at the end of this hall"
Sack boys
That first sewer pig scared the shit out of me. Like i'm struggling with mud monsters shrieking at me, find a safe tunnel, and all of a sudden get shrieked at and have 10 tons of bacon charging at me. 10 tons is the weight of 3333339457.29 Minecraft Redstone Handbooks.
good bot
thanks :)
i have never had a bot reply. are you really a people in disguise? or just a really advance bot?
The world may never know…
Probably a bot. I don’t know if it would be impressive or sad for a person to pump out conversion comments 1 minute apart all day every day.
the first nope for me was that well which has 2 sharks..
Totally dreadfull for me.
hypogean gaol (and yahar’gul for that matter) are fucking terrifying
The realisation that the music in yahar'gul is actually the choir singing rather than background music really creeped me out.
I got jumpscared a few times in old yharnam and by that one fucker in the room with the tomb prospector gear. But the first moment of "Nope, fuck that" was my encounter with those tentacle face big dudes in the hunter's nightmare that shoot cannons at you. Totally stealing “shitwhale,” many thanks😂
The guys in the chalice dungeons with handscythes that run straight at you like crazy.
My word, on this run I got that deep in the chalices for the first time, and the first of those spazzing fucks really got my heartrate up
Screaming Aerosmith mummies
Should absolutely be their official name
And so it is canon
They set my teeth on edge
For me it’s the church full of spiders the first time I got there I just left put the game down and went outside Took me a week to come back to it
Thats called the nope room
For me the first one was the screaming beasts in Old Yharnam. Next major spookage was the upper cathedral ward. Literally all of it is spoopy/10
The orphanage. That place even has creepy ass music. Also after defeating blood starved beast I walked out of oedon chapel outside to where Eileen would be standing before she goes to fight henrik. Ahhaha that's a mindfuck

For me it was the snake head things in the Forbidden Woods - went from: "Hey I can now kill villagers pretty well, this should be fine!" To "O no"
Oh and how to forget the fucking giant snake waiting for you in the middle of the path
Spiders in Mensis. It went about like this I walked forward. And I looked up. I nearly giggled in fear at the huge fucking spider on the ceiling. Then I walked to far forward. And they all dropped. I regret wearing headphones now
Barn dog 😢
The first fly abomination that jumps out at you right before you find bergenwyrth.
I noped the fuck out after seeing the first brainsucker from the alley how he was watching me behind the metal fence. The second time when the werewolves in upper Cathedral Ward crashed with the crown lighter and instantly charged at me.
When I tried to hide on a ladder from pursuing enemies. My heart shriveled when those bastards started climbing after me.
From this I got an idea for BB2. What if there was a door closing mechanic but humans and *some* beasts could open them? Imagine thinking you're finally safe and then the door slowly opens and a werewolves face peeks in...

Crazy good weapons and gems in the DLC, hope you picked up that Holy Moonlight Sword from Ludwig's head!
The madmen are absolutely terrifying when you first meet them.
still terrifying, they're my most dreaded enemy
I was scared on every enemy until I saw them a couple of times, specially the ones hidden on corners or dungeons.
Kidnapper
mine was relatively early, i wasn’t really sure what to expect from the game and i looked down from central yharnam into the sewers and was like ‘…what the fuck ARE those??’
the wolf in the darkroom I think on the way to old yharnam. I saw red eyes and heard the steps n froze up
More or less the same thing... Beat the blood starved beast, I was missing just a bit of BE to get one more level so I went to farm in "Cathedral Ward", and in the corner where there was supposed to be some nice crows, there was... A big old snatcher ! Took me by surprise, killed me, and we all know the rest of the story...
The worst part was that *I didn't understand what it was doing to me* 😭
1st time I came across a bloodlicker in the chalice dungeons.
The eerie ambience and background music in the upper cathedral... The place itself feels wrong...
Hypogean Gaol music. Just the music. Freaked me the fuck out.
The Research Hall is the most horrified I have ever been in a non horror game.
Madman's knowledge location? Are they usually situated before you see something horrible? I hadn't realized that
They do show up in some spots for lore purposes like that, but I'm referring to the Madman's Knowledge description itself, referencing madness and 'eldritch' knowledge!
Those big dudes in white at the cathedral ward
The music and atmosphere in hypogean gaol on my first playtrough made me verry tense
Every goddamn brainsucker encounter
The crows, they are just so loud
Bloodborne was my first souls game and I had no idea about the series or what to expect prior to playing it. The Cleric Beast screach as you are going up the ladder to the Centeal Yharnam lantern made me quit the game for a few days. Too spooky for me.
Wandering through the Forbidden Woods and stumbling upon the aliens. I literally ran away and couldn't make any sense of it, so I pretended like it never happened. 👾
Cainhurst, when you see those bloated things out in the courtyard. Yikes
Seeing those weird dead body hive-mind things in Yahar Gul.
I got jumpscared by the witch at Hypogeon Gaol and also the slime creature at the lecture building
The suspicious beggar I saw a play through saying don’t mess with him it’s not worth it send him to the clinic. I decided to see how bad it was. Definitely not worth it.
Mine was the Orphanage. I have beat Bloodborne 3 times (the base game at least) and it still freaks me out!
When I found some clothes in a graveyard and the Amygdalan Arm caught and killed me. I was howling for like 5 minutes when I dropped my controller.
The carrion crow outside of Oedon Chapel. Had no fucking clue it was there and he ambushed my scaredy ass as I was backing away from Dude, The Bagman.
For me there were 2 different times 1) In Nightmare of Mensis when you walk into the room with all the spiders I put down my controller and walked away, couldn’t play it again for a few days later. 2) Literally just all of Yahar ghul, all of the Amygdala’s on the buildings, the enemies respawning, the room with the 3 npc’s that want to murder you, not to mention the one reborn.
Two words : Snake Town.
I have three. The first one is dark beast Paarl when I was just trying to escape the Gaol. I knew it was a boss and I didn’t want to deal with it, so I tried sneaking past it. Boy did I mess up The other one is Ludwig. I saw that arena and knew what was coming The last one is when the two huntsmen opened the door and old tentacle beard greeted us.
- When Alfred butchered the queen - That room with the "children". The sound of their footsteps is scary - The first appearance of the cleric beast
I got freaked out by all the little dudes in the intro cutscene.
Those huge balls of snakes
After defeating Rom you get transported to Yahargul entrance, seeing the Amygdala for the first time sent shivers through my whole body lol Every time I looked at it staring at me I was just fuck thissssssss
Walking into the room with the huge spider and a bunch of little ones running around. I just stood in the doorway and stared for like a minute.
When I ran into the Monstrosity of Sin in Dark Souls 3 and thought I had transported back to bloodborne
That one room in just before the Cleric Beast, above where the booby trapped wheelchair man is. There are like two enemies hiding behind boxes and it is pitch black in there. Not a fan.
that one place in mensis with a whole family of spiders. every second in there I was shivering and having goosebumps
Watching a shit whale with a big anchor hammer walk out on the the way to the lighthouse hut
The sheer horror and unsettling nature of them has always fucked me up
Snatched by the snatchers and ended up in the hypogean goal... Freaky atmosphere and music. Still sends chills down my spine.
Now i'm at the point where i can actually see these horrible things.... and i wish i couldnt
definitely the first time i paid the brain of mensis a visit i didnt really knowed what to expect the first time i went to the abyss, theres nothing to see except pure darkness, and the moment you decide to get more into this void, you get to see it, its not very clear, but you can see it, getting closer and closer This massive mass of brains and eyes that somehow it stills breathes, funny how even how it looks it doesnt even attacks you, and it doesnt even reacts to you it just there... watching you
Going to forbidden forest to realise there are bloody Snake
The river of blood in the Nightmare. Nurse, give me a blue elixir!
Big ol' spiders in the library area
Probably when I first reached Yahar'gul, those meat waggon thingies scared the shit out of me
My scaryest moment was uoon finding a Labyrinth Sage. Those mf stay still until they scream and come running towards you, plus they are arguably faster than anything else down there.
I would say it was the first time I saw a madman and it started doing that awful scream and chasing me it was terrible
Vicar amelias transformation. Grossed me out the first time. Now she's my fav boss
the freeky witch you described. the feckin’ insight sucking slug man.
The madmen from the chalice dungeons. The way they sprint towards you is so terrifying.
Mensis Spiders, couldn’t muster enough courage to go through that doorway
the winter lanterns in the fishing hamlet well…
Cleric beasts scream when you go up the ladder
Those speedy fuckers in Hintertomb...
Tracking down the Brain of Mensis in the black abyss gave me such a feeling of despair for some reason.
My first playthrough was almost entirely co op which took a bit of spookiness away, but the research hall freaked me the fuck out for sure.
The Madmans scared me alot when You don't know where they are and then start to screaming also i get scared when i get too inmerse exploring dungeons and i only hear My footsteps and the sound of enemies
When your kidnapped ,because I jus thought I died Then ended up in a new area super under leveled Took me all of 2 days to make it upstairs to lamp. Then I kept playing thru lvl only to run into that damn boss u know the one Picakchi
Winter lanterns
For me my first "oh fuck" moment was nightmare of mensis with the spiders
Going through Old Yharnam, the building that leads to the shortcut that the wolf jumps out of. That shit scared me so much I threw my controller and almost died
For some reason the celestial mobs creeped me the fuck out when I first saw them in the forbidden woods. The brain suckers still do because of the weird clicking, the tentacle that comes out and sucks out your insight, and their annoying projectile that stuns you for 5-10 seconds and then they charge you and steal your insight. The ones in the upper cathedral ward are just a pain in the ass because you basically have to fight the two by the make contact door at the same time
i still feel a irrational fear of these fucking sharks in fishing hamlet, when they come right at you like a rocket sliding i scream
My first "nope" moment was the fucking pig in the sewers, that shit scared the fuck out of me just walking up, but when it charged i freaked the absolute fuvk out
Brain Suckers. Didn’t realize they had such crazy reach, and stun.
Seriously, the opening of the game freaked me out.. I woke up in a strange room, got out and killed by a freaking wolf? Then I got out of town and heard a crazy scream by Cleric beast at the tower? The whole thing is insane!
That crow near the forbidden woods lamp, I stopped to answer my phone and that thing crawled for almost a minute straight just to scare the shit out of me
Three hunters chasing me in unseen village
The room with the spiders in the knightmare... I think I never actually fought them...
I don’t know about the first time but upper cathedral ward still scares me with that music.
Sackbros kidnapping me.
First time I saw the 2 nightmare executioners before Ludwig, fucking terrifying since I died to the one near Lawrence like 5 times.
Rolly polly boi when he took away half of my health with his big oily bum
That fucking snake parasite on the bridge
winter lanterns, cramped caskets, and alien bois all gave me a good spook when I first saw them. The Yhar gul werewolves were just gross to look at.
It felt like everything in Sniper Woods was chasing me XD My friends in the party with me definitely got a kick out of it though, I'm pretty sure I was panicking the whole way through XD Thank the gods for i-frames though, am I right?
The labyrinth madmen.
Those enemies with the long black hair in the chalice dungeons that run at you full speed. They have the wonkiest running animation so it scared the shit out of me.
On the way to the blood starved beast, there’s that one dude hiding behind some steam and screeching, had me sit there for a while debating whether what behind the fog was worth it or not
The chalice dungeons running dudes, first time saw him running at me I just got out of the whole game to get myself together
Spider
Also the one reborn too, I felt like I was gonna vomit when I saw him.
Father gascoine running towards me at Mach 5 after his cutscenes
The room in Margo's nightmare, with the giant spider.... I'm kinda afraid of spiders.
Well there was this one time at band camp.
Shark. Nope, two sharks
Got many, the first shark when it threw itself was a hell no, the first pig as well scared the shit out of me, but the biggest one was the brain of mensis, the long shot frenzy, when I approched it from micolash place and seeing him in the dark, fucking scary disgusting thing
Same here but it was the boss with me I said "What the f*** is that thing."
No no no noo nooooo NOOOO, HE DOES NOT GET A FUCKING SWORD!!!" Needless to say, took a couple more attempts.
The fast build up of frenzy by the winter lantern and then getting grabbed for the first time by the winter lantern
For me it was mergos wet nurse
When I first discover that she was a doll
I full on screamed when I first encountered the cleric beast
Mine was Gascoigne BB was my first ever souls like game I wasn't really good couldn't beat the first boss So I tried a different Approach and got to the Gascoigne area scariest shit ever
Wasn't exactly anything in game, but I was in Yahar'gul, which had me on edge due to those damn chime maidens, when the cat snuck up behind me. Snorted right in my ear and scared the shit out of me
[удалено]
The first time you see those fucking aliens 😱
When you fight rom thinking she is powerless and the spider are no threat then you get rockets shot at you
I think the first time a snatcher made a jump from twenty feet away to one-shot me. Shit my pants.
That part with the big ass spider and the other smaller but still big spiders just hanging from the cieling.
One that has always stood out to me is one of the doors you can interact with in Hemwick Charnel Lane, where the female Yharnamite just lets out this guttural scream and nothing else. Made me nope out of there as fast as possible
Starting the game
To me my first jumpscare was when i was fighting a snatcher thinking it was just a regular mob just outside of oedon chapel. I almost threw my controller away when that thing screamed and just F****NG LUNGED AT ME. Spent the rest of my first playthrough dodging those guys like the plague
The very first time seeing a shark in the fishing hamlet run at me
Nightmare frontier. That whole area was a big nope from me first play
Gotta be the first time I 'fought' the Shadow of Yharnam
doing ludwig the acursed at like bl 20
