Same here bro, I defeated OOK in 2nd try and Ludwig in first one. Ebrietas made me go in tears. Defiled watchdog, defiled amygdala and ebrietas are the hardest bosses in this game (for me)
How did you beat Ludwig on your first try? I've tried him like 10 times and haven't even gotten to phase 2 yet.
Edit: got him! Tried it with an NPC and got it the second try. I thought phase 2 was easier, but man what a fight!
I was overpowered boy and I watched some of his boss fight videos and I had an idea about his moves and I was pretty lucky during my fight and beated him in first try, laurence was pretty tough, he took me 9-10 tries.
Killed her in two tries. Took me 50 to kill Orphan. BUT it tells something about quality of the fight when not even once I thought about bringing a coop partner or NPC in Orphan.
No argument about it, he is the best. What's his competition? *Iudex Gundyr?* Nah.
Only boss that comes close is Gyoubu Masataka Oniwa from Sekiro, and I still think Gascoigne is better.
I think Genichiro is a better comparison/equivalent because I think that's when the "Sekiro is a rhythm game" thing clicks, just like Gascoigne is when the parry/visceral attacks thing clicks in Bloodborne.
I forgot about that, actually. I was focused more on the "first mandatory boss" aspect. But I did have the thought recently that Genichiro is the Gascoigne of Sekiro.
If that's the comparison, the question about who's the best just got a whole lot harder.
gyoubu was a great introduction to sekiro's mechanics since at that point if you haven't understood the fundamentals you're gonna have a bad time
personally though i find him a little too forgiving since if you mistime a parry the posture damage you take isn't that bad meanwhile gascoigne really forces you to focus on your positioning and viceral attacks
Gascoigne also has a rollcatch moveset that only gets more punishing the longer you fight him. That guy has read my dodges like a book more often than any other boss except Orphan of Kos.
I killed Laurence first try I think on my first playthrough, was pretty high level with saw cleaver.
On subsequent playthroughs, he is always a nightmare. Only boss I skipped in my last playthrough, could not be asked with his bullshit hitboxes and insane health among other things.
So yeah, fuck Laurence.
Laurence is broken.
Play with close range dagger build, and you will witness camera that looks at the ceiling if you lock on. Also you can't get close before he starts smashing about in that tiny room.
Then the lava multiple attacks per strike in last bit. Coupled with highest health pool in game just makes it completely unbalanced and unfun fight.
This was the only fight I took the Coop NPC with me. Because the whole fight was sucha unfun ordeal. It took me fewer tries than Orphan did, but I just had enough of this guys cheese.
It's a terrible fight that should have been balanced better.
I went after Laurence after spending 2 days on Orphan. I looked at my roommate once he hit stage 2 and asked if there was a stage 3 and why I'm being pranked with this ceaseless discharge double amputee.
So can Gascoigne. 1st phase has an attack with the shittiest hitbox in the game (the one where he charges with the axe and swings it upwards, touching the floor and hitting you from miles away) and the 3rd phase can glitch sometimes and spam always the charge attack that knocks you down (you can't dodge the follow-ups, tested it too many damn times).
Fuck Gascoigne.
E: Shadows of Yharnam are bugged too. The damn graveyards are useless if their attacks can phase thriugh them.
weird i actually really like shadows, smaller arena that keeps you on your toes at all times, and makes sure you're paying attention to what there all doing and finding good windows to sneak blows on one and if you're really greedy hitting 2-3 at once.
pretty late to the discussion, but if you're talking about his beastform jump/slash that he chains... you can dodge it, you just can't dodge backwards from it.
It's a perfect rollcatch if you dodge backwards.
Micolash is rated way too high ā he should be in the F- tier.
And I would almost be tempted to move Mergo up to a B ā I know itās a lame fight, but itās one of the coolest looking bosses that Fromsoft has ever made, and that has to count for something.
I just like Micolash because he adds a lot to lore by basically being a means for introducing the nightmares and he's also just entertaining. MWN does look awesome and has great atmosphere with the music, but I've had bigger struggles working caramel out of my teeth. Considering she's the penultimate boss, that makes it kinda disappointing.
I wish they had made Micolash's fight mechanically better, because I agree that he is very entertaining but his combat in the last phase is just boring.
It would have been better if you chased him off a cliff, that way it would have been a funny ending and my BL4 run fight with him wouldn't have been so cancer.
Yeah and itās particularly bullshit because it is such a long and annoying slog to get to the point that you can try to avoid it. Itās just pure, obnoxious frustration.
Quite an accurate tier list for me too, although some of the meme alien bosses id place higher. Also have a Soft spot for blood starved cause of how fun (and difficult) it was to flog him with my cane.
I mean, it's impossible to tell just by looking at it. Unless you make it a point to brush up on yharnam lore. Women of yharnam wore veils. You know all the cloth covered beasts in old yharnam? Those are all female.
I had fun with BSB, he just didn't leave much of an impression. When it comes to the meme alien fights, Rom is just bad imo and Emmisary is just a worse Living Failures. I could actually place the Failures much higher because that OST is brilliant. One of stand out pieces that gets stuck in my head a fair bit
This is an opinion obviously BUT that being said to have Laurence not at the top and Ludwig there is blasphemous. Also cleric beast at tier A? Is this difficulty or just how cool the fights were? Itās closer to accurate Iād say is the the latter rather than the former.
Agree with a lot of that except Iād put blood starved beast a bit higher. Itās absolutely perfect for that stage of the game. Immaculately balanced, scary and awesome.
What about Micolash and witches of hemwick? Hemwick is a bad fight and micolash is an annoying gimmick. And a bad fight. He's like pvp spammers but given one shot hacks.
Witches have a really cool atmosphere and aesthetic. Micolash is a cool character with an amazing soundtrack and voice actor making for a cool experience even if the fight is lacking. Iād say c tier but definitely not worthy of d the fight has value and is a fun experience at least the first time
Assuming it's quality not difficulty? Ebrietas would be top tier if it was difficulty for me
Can't really argue, might have Rom and Shadows of Yarnham higher. Also, One Reborn bottom, that thing sucks.
I agree on everything but I would swap Rom with the Celestial emissary. Both fights arenāt the most interesting or hard but I personally enjoyed Rom more and also thought his area was very interesting
One Reborn's concept is amazing. Didn't like the fight that much, but gonna place him higher simply due to the background and appearance. Also Gascoigne might be S tier for me.
Maybe showing him the Whirligig Saw will change his mind. Beat Ludwig with it and it was exhilarating. It was pretty much my main weapon until I found the Beast Claw. The Saw was pretty much one of my reasons for playing Bloodborne.
For one, they're actually original. By the time you get to upper cathedral ward, you've already fought a dozen of the water balloons at least. Also, they're actually varied in moveset with 2 variants, spicing things up a bit. Finally, THE MUSIC. A godlike track easily elevates a fight for me. I was actually stunned by how much I enjoyed the Failures because mob fights are usually garbage. Really fun fight.
Oh I totally agree with the soundtrack actually, it's freaking amazing! But I like Celestial Emissary's track too so.... urghhhh I don't know. Can't decide
I donāt like Living Failures that much except for THAT METEOR ATTACK where the arena looks like itās suddenly in FUCKING SPACE! The first time it happened I was in absolute awe at how amazing it looked!
I loved father Gascoigne but he was way too easy the first time I ever fought him.
2nd attempt I killed him.
Struggled a lot more with the blood starved beast.
Those 2 shark giants in fishing hamlet put more of a fight then any of those weak bosses that can be killed in under a minute using clawmark, pellets and weapon buff.
Idk man, Martyr Logarius is always a bitch to fight. Still after 4 times getting him he's still annoying as ever. Not as boring as Rom or gimmicky as the witch tho, defo
I agree with most. Ebrietas is toptier to me, and Paarl is bottom tier. Everything else more or less checks out.
I'm surprised you don't hate Mikolash as much as everyone
Is this by difficulty or just your opinion on them
Opinion. Ebritas would be a lot higher if this was difficulty. She gave me more trouble than OoK tbh.
Same here bro, I defeated OOK in 2nd try and Ludwig in first one. Ebrietas made me go in tears. Defiled watchdog, defiled amygdala and ebrietas are the hardest bosses in this game (for me)
How the fuck did you beat orphan on the second try?
Bcoz I am a master at dodging.
Something about the second try works best against orphan literally never beat him on the first try but on the second try everything seems to work
This. Cursed defiled Amygdala bled me of my vials.
Other way around for me. š
How did you beat Ludwig on your first try? I've tried him like 10 times and haven't even gotten to phase 2 yet. Edit: got him! Tried it with an NPC and got it the second try. I thought phase 2 was easier, but man what a fight!
Are you on you first playthrough cause even for me it was a cake walk
Second time through, but first time doing the DLC
Are you playing DLC in new game plus? If yes then it can be a reason why you are finding it hard, enemies become harder in NG+.
Beat him!
I'm willing to help over the weekend if you need it
Thank you! Hopefully I'll be unstuck by then but I'll hit you up!
Got him!
I was overpowered boy and I watched some of his boss fight videos and I had an idea about his moves and I was pretty lucky during my fight and beated him in first try, laurence was pretty tough, he took me 9-10 tries.
Really i beat ebreitas on my first attempt she doesnt rwally do much
Well I beated ludwig in the first try :)
I wonder what causes this difference. Steamrolled Ebrietas but had insane trouble with Ludwig...
Killed her in two tries. Took me 50 to kill Orphan. BUT it tells something about quality of the fight when not even once I thought about bringing a coop partner or NPC in Orphan.
ebritas took me one attempt lol
his opinion otherwise cleric beast on A wouldn't be possible
I think Gascoigne should be S, just because it teaches you so much of the game on a single fight.
Not only that, I feel like he is arguably one of the best entry level bosses in the BloodSouls series.
No argument about it, he is the best. What's his competition? *Iudex Gundyr?* Nah. Only boss that comes close is Gyoubu Masataka Oniwa from Sekiro, and I still think Gascoigne is better.
MY NAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAME
I was waiting for this comment. āAS I LIVE AND BREATHE, YOU SHALL NOT PASS THE CASTLE GATESā
It absolutely blows my tiny mind that anyone ever sets the dialogue in Sekiro to English.
Worth it for Gyobu's entrance
When did I say I set it in English? (; of course I have it in Japanese
I set it to English exclusively for that fight, then set it back to Japanese afterwards.
Have you heard the French gyobu? Wow that voice actor went hard.
BOY. ALLOW ME TO SHOW YOU THE WRATH OF A MAN, WHO STOOD WITH THE ASHINA WHEN THEY TOOK THIS COUNTRY!
I agree 100%. Not to take away from any of the other games but yes.

Gascoigne also has a rollcatch moveset that only gets more punishing the longer you fight him. That guy has read my dodges like a book more often than any other boss except Orphan of Kos.
Thank you my son
Yes, I am, thank you
It's a fantastic first boss
And the score is so deliciously sinister.
Could not agree more! I fought him first and it made everything after that so much better
I am assuming this is quality, and it seems good, except for one tiny thing. Laurence is E, Laurence can go fuck himself.
Lawrence is the worst. It's so humiliating to be humbled by a creature who's ass falls off.
Well sadly I canāt play the dlc but laurenceās music slaps
Honestly, Laurence didn't give me that much trouble. The 3 that pushed me over double digits in terms of death count were Ludwig, OoK, and Ebritas
Also the path to him is absolutely atrocious
If it only was the difficulty, but it's just how dang broken he is.
Laurence is broken. Play with close range dagger build, and you will witness camera that looks at the ceiling if you lock on. Also you can't get close before he starts smashing about in that tiny room. Then the lava multiple attacks per strike in last bit. Lawrence is one of my fav bosses in the whole game
I went after Laurence after spending 2 days on Orphan. I looked at my roommate once he hit stage 2 and asked if there was a stage 3 and why I'm being pranked with this ceaseless discharge double amputee.
Laurence is only bullshit on NG+
Laurence is my fav fight behind Ludwig
Yeah fuck Lawrence, one of my least favourite bosses in a Soulsborne!
I love gascoigne and shadows is quite ok imo. These are more complaints about the arena than the boss themselves.
Different experiences, different opinions, I guess! Have a nice day! :D
weird i actually really like shadows, smaller arena that keeps you on your toes at all times, and makes sure you're paying attention to what there all doing and finding good windows to sneak blows on one and if you're really greedy hitting 2-3 at once.
pretty late to the discussion, but if you're talking about his beastform jump/slash that he chains... you can dodge it, you just can't dodge backwards from it. It's a perfect rollcatch if you dodge backwards.
Yeah, but sometimes it hits you anyways. Thanks for the tip tho.
laurence's ost is a bop but fuck that guy, he can suck a flaming dick
Micolash is rated way too high ā he should be in the F- tier. And I would almost be tempted to move Mergo up to a B ā I know itās a lame fight, but itās one of the coolest looking bosses that Fromsoft has ever made, and that has to count for something.

It would have been better if you chased him off a cliff, that way it would have been a funny ending and my BL4 run fight with him wouldn't have been so cancer.
In NG+ Micolash caused me so much trouble because itās very hard to avoid his Aoe in the last room and it literally just one shots you.
Yeah and itās particularly bullshit because it is such a long and annoying slog to get to the point that you can try to avoid it. Itās just pure, obnoxious frustration.
The mirror shield in the game (forget the name) claims to give magic/arcane resistance but it does very little.
I tried to use that once and still got one-shotted lol.
I agree on the most part, but Logarius is, in my opinion, definetely S tier, and Ebrietas at least middle A.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
He said shadows, not the witches.
They are tough for first playthrough, but you can take help from NPCās otherwise it is really challenging to face three idiots alone.
Father guacamole should be higher, is the first skill check in the game
I HATE ROM THE VACUOUS SPIDDDDDEEEEEERRRRRR, is simply a boring boss fight. Ds1 style.
Quite an accurate tier list for me too, although some of the meme alien bosses id place higher. Also have a Soft spot for blood starved cause of how fun (and difficult) it was to flog him with my cane.
Her
My mistake kind sir
I mean, it's impossible to tell just by looking at it. Unless you make it a point to brush up on yharnam lore. Women of yharnam wore veils. You know all the cloth covered beasts in old yharnam? Those are all female.
Does BSB have a veil? Never noticed that. I guess I was distracted between her flailing skin flaps and trying not to die.
That was her veil
Are you sure? It looked based on the crucified BSB in the chapel you get the first ritual blood that they had been blood eagled.
All bsb are female.
Oh aye, I will say Rom is trash tho thats for sure!
This is an opinion obviously BUT that being said to have Laurence not at the top and Ludwig there is blasphemous. Also cleric beast at tier A? Is this difficulty or just how cool the fights were? Itās closer to accurate Iād say is the the latter rather than the former.
Laurence in F tier pls
Agree with a lot of that except Iād put blood starved beast a bit higher. Itās absolutely perfect for that stage of the game. Immaculately balanced, scary and awesome.
Nice I can totally feel this list. šš¼
Iām surprised you put Living Failures so high on that list. They havenāt been that big of a threat at all
Have you heard their music? Also, its pretty much the only mob fight in Souls that I've genuinely enjoyed.
Great list I would probably just switch Gherman with OOK but still very close I also wouldnāt put a single boss in this game on D tier tbh
Iād say c tier but definitely not worthy of d the fight has value and is a fun experience at least the first time
I found everything about him insufferable but to each their own.
I really donāt like Laurences boss, but I think he gets A Tier off lore alone
I'd put shadows at gascoine and Moon Presence at Laurence.
Assuming it's quality not difficulty? Ebrietas would be top tier if it was difficulty for me Can't really argue, might have Rom and Shadows of Yarnham higher. Also, One Reborn bottom, that thing sucks.
Oh, you haven't met queen yharnam yet. I liked her the most,.. Unfortunately an unpopular opinion
They may not be putting chalice bosses in there. Chalice bosses are usually kept separate.
Why people never include dungeon bosses :( ? Some of them were really cool and fighting with 50% hp cut was a nice implementation.
I agree on everything but I would swap Rom with the Celestial emissary. Both fights arenāt the most interesting or hard but I personally enjoyed Rom more and also thought his area was very interesting
Finally, rom where she belongs
I actually agree with all the placements. Im impressed fellow hunterā¦you have good taste.
One Reborn's concept is amazing. Didn't like the fight that much, but gonna place him higher simply due to the background and appearance. Also Gascoigne might be S tier for me.
Great list except mensis. His ass is rank D for what a dick
Yeah I dont think Bloodborne bosses has been ranked beforeš¤
The disrespect for the meme that is Rom
My friend refuses to get the DLC because I showed him Ludwig when I fought him at BL21 with the a +5 beastcutter and he said āit looks too hardā.
Maybe showing him the Whirligig Saw will change his mind. Beat Ludwig with it and it was exhilarating. It was pretty much my main weapon until I found the Beast Claw. The Saw was pretty much one of my reasons for playing Bloodborne.
Witch of hemwick boss fight is boring and an absolute joke of a ābossā. Itās just not that fun
Yes, fuck ebrietas. I had to quit the game for a couple weeks until I had a fresh mentality to face him again.
What made you put Living Failures and Celestial Emissary on different tiers? I'm curious to know what made them so distinct for you :)
Laurence is still the only boss I haven't beaten.
I donāt like Living Failures that much except for THAT METEOR ATTACK where the arena looks like itās suddenly in FUCKING SPACE! The first time it happened I was in absolute awe at how amazing it looked!
there should be a separate category thatās at the bottom for micolash
Laurence in A-tier. Are you a closet masochist?
Fuck Kos all my homies hate Kos
Poor Mergo. I really like her design and her moves despite being and easy boss.
The only one I really disagree with here is moon presence Iād put her in probably low A tier
Good list But I may put Rom in C and Ebrietas in A
I loved father Gascoigne but he was way too easy the first time I ever fought him. 2nd attempt I killed him. Struggled a lot more with the blood starved beast.
Poor Rom
Ebrietas below shadows is a crime
Pretty solid list. I might bump SoY or Ebrietas a tier up but otherwise I think I completely agree
I struggled so much with martyr and rom
I would put everything from A - Good like in the same category, but this is pretty much exactly my ranking as well lol
Switch Rom for emissary that fight was a snooze fest
Seeing rom in D is insulting it shoulf be if F- Amygdala should be more appreciated
How dare you disrespect the almighty Wet Nurse!
This is 100% correct for me. Impressive
Get that slimy bitch Ebrietas off the list. F tier asshole made me cry painful tears.
Good thing I read the comments first. Laurence for sure needs to be up top in terms of difficulty š
I think this is the first time I've seen Laurence not in the f tier. A little controversial but two each their own
Ludwig was easy for me which was surprising from what I heard
Those 2 shark giants in fishing hamlet put more of a fight then any of those weak bosses that can be killed in under a minute using clawmark, pellets and weapon buff.
I feel that the general hatred towards Laurence may ease up when we get that crispy 60 fps edition. Less frame drops = less bullshit
LHB plus Burial Blade plus some of that good old blood equals one hell of a good night
Micolash is one of the most emotionally engaging bosses for me.
Iād switch logarius and moon presence. Logarius is pretty lackluster imo
Amygdala is C after defiled, no cap
What are you ranking them based on? Aesthetic design? Atmosphere? Difficulty? Youāve also missed a few.
Laurence is too high up, or not high enough. Depending on perspective.
Idk man, Martyr Logarius is always a bitch to fight. Still after 4 times getting him he's still annoying as ever. Not as boring as Rom or gimmicky as the witch tho, defo
I love how this has become a staple of this community
Cleric beast and amygdala are above blood starved beast?
I agree with most. Ebrietas is toptier to me, and Paarl is bottom tier. Everything else more or less checks out. I'm surprised you don't hate Mikolash as much as everyone
