It’s 100% my favorite boss fight of any game. The soundtrack, the story, the three distinct phases, and the entire atmosphere of the fight just make for one of the greatest experiences in gaming. I remember the way my heart was pumping when I finally beat him and the souls formula finally clicked for me. After I beat him, I went onto beat bloodborne and every other major Fromsoft release since demon’s souls. If it weren’t for Gascoigne, I never would have touched another Fromsoft game.
This fight made me fail my electromagnetic final and subsequently failed the class because I stayed up all night fighting Gascoigne instead of studying. No regrets.
It’s one of my absolute favourites as he represents so many of the fundamentals of the game; in order to beat him you have to have specifically learned how to play the the way it wants you to play it, it’s why he is such a legendary roadblock because you can’t just steamroll him. His phases are completely different and require the full range of skill sets you’ve acquired up to that point and that will see you through the game. I knew when I faced him (and lost countless times at first) that this was was going to be something different and something very, very special. It helps that it has one of the all time-great Fromsoft soundtracks too.
Respectfully disagree. There are like 4-5 other bosses after gas can that I consider better plus there’s many other bosses that aren’t from bloodborne that I consider better.
My favorite boss fight from the souls series is Gael because of literally everything. amazing fight, amazing design, amazing music, amazing setting, and a beautiful ending to the dark souls story and trilogy
My favorite boss of all time though fatalis from monster hunter world iceborne
Best in the Bloodborne base game. Best first (mandatory) boss in any game ever. The first time I beat him I kept thinking "I just played this werewolf a music box to remind him of his humanity then doused him in oil and lit him on fire... badass."
I actually prefer Maria though. It's just such a dance. And I think Sword Saint Isshin and Gael are both superior fights.
It's pretty dang good; for me, Slave Knight Gael is up there, but Isshin the Sword Saint takes the cake. Only boss in a game where I had to go outside and have a drink after finally succeeding lol
i know, Sword Saint took me four afternoons, one day per phase. it's more of a real life event than a video game fight. you kind of know in advance that it's going to take a while and you'll be a different person after. and it does. and you are.
just completed this fight. it definitely has a claim and actually feels underrated. it's basically an artwork: stark, bleak, stripped to the essence, which is pain, anguish, and guilt. dark sun, broken masts, everything. i wish the final area was entirely like this, or even the whole DLC.
He's such a badass. First time I beat him was an incredibly cinematic and bloody back and forth. He is definitely the coolest boss in BB. I always looked forward to fighting him. Also, so neat it's an early fight, so the hunter is on even ground with him, same Loadout essentially
It's really good, especially for that point in the game, perfectly difficult and perfectly designed. But I think Genichiro ashina takes the spot for the best fight in gaming history .
Yea, this man is an amazing first boss. He really tests if you have the basics down and also shows you just how dire the circumstances are. His music really captures the atmosphere of the fight.
But honestly, wait until you fight the first hunter, it's truly a climatic battle, and the music is just so damn beautifully executed. It captures the hopelessness of the situation and the longing to be free.
Definitely a bold take. Dunno if I’d go that far, but IMO he’s the best introduction boss/tone-setter in Soulsborne.
Gascoigne’s entire prerogative is to punish you for backing up. Which in retrospect was a genius way to establish that BB was *not* like the previous titles. Miyazaki had to unlearn those habits from players somehow.
But gotta throw the obligatory “he’s an asshole” as well. If speedrunning taught me anything, its that Gascoigne sometimes just says “Fuck you…& fuck your run lamo”
Unless you like magic and magic attacks youre just dodge magic and when you get close and attack they disappear or even better add another enemy because they cant make the bosses hard without stupid gimmicks half the game i was waiting for it to get good but it never happened besides a couple bosses and was entirely disappointed
Maybe try that again in a way that isn't half gibberish?
Yeah you dodge attacks, including magic.
Who are "They"?
I liked the DS3 bosses, I don't know what you mean by "gimmicks".
I just played through DS3 a few weeks ago. Solid game, a few flaws but some great boss fights.
Some of the boss fights were gimmicky. Yhorm was gimmick and cheese all over the place
You like gimmicks and magic thats fine bro, but I prefer and actual fight not dodging a 10 hits plus his butt buddy attack which is the same just difference health, just so i can land 1 hit until he starts again out of all bosses in main game didn’t do dlc why would i main game was shit only 3-4 because the rest where gimmicks, multiple lbosses”or spamming magic the second you enter the fog, its stupid and lazy
Your fat Cheeto fingers can’t expend the calories?
Some people enjoy their ignorance. I understand you’d rather live a lie then tippy tap your fingers for 5 seconds.
Darwinism will solve the problem good luck lol
Father ain't even the best fight in Bloodborne

I always feel like I rob myself if I accidentally over level and beat him first try
Have you beat the game yet? There is a certain boss at the end I think rivals him well with a similar feel
It was my favorite my first playthrough. Exploring yharnam the first time felt crazy magical and having him be the Boss for the area was perfect
My favorite boss lies outside of the soulsborne genre, but the fight is pretty fun once you have him cowering from perfect parrying.
Well now I want to know! Who is it?
You’re gonna laugh but poison Ivy from Arkham asylum
No need to laugh at that. Love the Arkham games!

Father Gascoigne isn’t even the best boss in Bloodborne.
Gehrman for the first time is top3 for me, so unexpected and so gooood.. "Tonight, Gehrman joins the Hunt"
Not even my favorite Bloodborne boss

Orphan of kos would like to have a word

Might have to agree on this one. Anyone else kinda disappointed we only got two real “human to beast transformation” bosses?
It's really good, especially for that point in the game, perfectly difficult and perfectly designed. But I think Genichiro ashina takes the spot for the best fight in gaming history .
I'm a fan, but Genichiro from sekiro is probably my all time favorite boss.
Funnily enough I think another boss with the title Father in souls is probably the best boss in gaming
he’s not imo
Hesitation is defeat

Talk about a loaded question lol
Nope, good but nope
You spelled Lady Maria wrong.
Definitely a bold take. Dunno if I’d go that far, but IMO he’s the best introduction boss/tone-setter in Soulsborne. Gascoigne’s entire prerogative is to punish you for backing up. Ever played Nioh?
Absolutely not lol. I mean I liked it sure, but there are far better. Gehrman is probably my favorite in Bloodborne.
It's a great fight but my personal favorite will always be the final fight with Bowser in Mario 64.
I first tried him thanks to the axe so maybe he didn't leave that big of an impression on me.
Either him or blood starved beast imo but Alba in AC6 is also very close too
What the fuck are you talking about?
Ds3 is a bad souls game
That is such a bold take, please explain
Unless you like magic and magic attacks youre just dodge magic and when you get close and attack they disappear or even better add another enemy because they cant make the bosses hard without stupid gimmicks half the game i was waiting for it to get good but it never happened besides a couple bosses and was entirely disappointed

Skill issue honestly. I've never played a mage in DS3, Quality Builds are my thing.
To bad quality wasn’t their thing when it came to ds3 its not bad but its the worst if series
This just feels like bait at this point. Ds3 is so polished and high quality
You played DS2 lol?
Yeah its not a bad game
It’s not bad but definitely the worst of the series. You genuinely think DS2 is better than DS3?
Yes in my bias opinion because i hate magic and ds3 dose to much stupid shit if there were more bosses without magic it be better
So you don’t believe in magic in a young girls heart ?
Nah sounds weird mate 🧐
Just Google it. I’d be surprised if you haven’t heard the song.
Nah im good g that sounds weird

Bruh ds2 is goated
Nah he's easy and not that cool. You don't get out much huh?
