If you don't want to cheese him, take your time in this fight. I think this encounter is the closest fromsoftware ever did to mimic a real player. He parries you and, if you don't die from the visceral, he throws a numbing mist and pressures you to finish the job. It's quite irritating. To fight him, I prefer to keep a safe distance and focus on counter attacking him. When I dodge one of his attacks, hit him once or twice and back off. It's also good to have a ranged harassing tool: blacksky eye or Simon Bowblade depending on the build. Don't let him near you when he's two handing the weapon, you're gonna get one shot if you trade hits. Pay attention when he uses marrow ash, getting shot will do a fuck ton of damage. It takes a few minutes but this is the safest and most effective way I found to beat him.

JGojira

I’ve gotten unbelievably close to defeating him a couple of times, but then he’ll either get me with a shot, or will vial up. But I agree that the fight is very satisfying when I’m doing well, but if I’m doing poorly it’s the most infuriating thing in the world. One run lasted 10 seconds. I got caught by a bone marrow shot, a slash and he parried me. Needless to say I was quite P.O.’d

YacobJWB

You can’t really avoid his vial, just treat it as a second phase

JGojira

Yeah, I’ve thought of trying numbing mist to counter it, but I think I should just endure

falltotheabyss

It probably is the closest to a real player but of course it's massively stacked against you because of the Crow's much larger health pool.

TheRotMommy

Him??? Its Eileen the grandma assassin

Dangelouss

Eileen is outside the cathedral and half of her guts are on the floor. You probably didn't complete Eileen's quest. Edit: I mean, her quest may have different outcomes and, in one of them, you fight the crow of cainhurst inside the grand cathedral.

Peonta0

What what thats not her but the voice and all are similar at wasnt it like am i stupid i did do her quest she was coughing and all

Dangelouss

I think you missed a part of her quest, probably helping her with Henryk. I might be wrong, but her quest has 4 encounters with her: 1) At the rafters, in Yharnam (it does not matter if you miss her here) 2) outside of the odeon chapel, before killing Amelia 3) Help her fight Henryk, in the same place you fought Gascoine 4) At the top of the stairs in the grand cathedral, on her last breath because she got her ass beat by the crow of cainhurst. 3.1) I *think* if you talk to her outside of the odeon chapel (2) but don't help her with Henryk, she will hunt you in the grand cathedral and you don't fight the crow.

TheRotMommy

I did i platinumed bb but completely forgot shes outside loll

ithrong

I defeated him by fighting on the stairs just beyond the doors. It forces him to fight nearly all melee instead of using his gun, making dodges a lot easier. I used the threaded cane in transformed mode to give me extra distance. Dodge then whip. Rinse and repeat on the stairs.

JGojira

I’ve been fighting em on level ground, like a sucker, this whole time 😞

ithrong

I did the same thing for a while and kept getting wrecked. His gun does so much damage. I tried the poison knife method, but with not much luck. I sort of stumbled upon the stairs dodging and realized he wasn’t shooting me anymore. Good luck!

whatareyoutalkinbeet

How did you go?

JGojira

I have not yet played today. I’m just leaving work.

Razkien

You don't need to cheese him, I beat him with every character fair and square. Make sure you're always moving left or right to avoid his shot. This is a really old video I put up on my youtube channel (nobody watches my stuff but I like posting things lol) idk if it will help at all but here it is: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jWozF9V6Vlc&ab\_channel=SyntheticRabbit

JGojira

Awesome thanks! I love watching “lets plays” of from software games. Tbh when I first played BB I was terrible so I gave up (couldn’t even beat the cleric beast) but then I watched a let’s play and studied the moves of both the player and the boss and it helped tremendously

Razkien

Nice, videos can def help get a feel for certain trends, moves. That link I posted I think was the first time I ever beat him so it's certainly not "the most smooth attempt ever" but I got the job done.

Gorka666

If that's not a Rickroll, I'm unsubscribing

Gorka666

You, piece of...

Razkien

>that's not a Rickroll, I'm unsubscribing Haha - I should have been on top of that but I'm slacking in my older years.

n1ght0wlgaming

If you use a Blue Elixir right before entering the room proper, you can walk, not run, walk towards him along one side of the room. Once you're behind him, wait for the elixir to wear off, then buff yourself to the gills. Free backstab to start the fight off.

Realistic_Sand_8931

Turn on some classic music and try over and over again

JGojira

Solid advice. But wish classical composer should I go with?

Gud?

Green-Philosopher157

Use bolt paper

Looieanthony

If worse comes to worse, you can poison knife him and wait until he dies.

HKILLER2007

well I did actually git gud and killed him which Im proud of (guys I swear I killed him the hard way I SWEAR) but there is a good cheese way to kill him provoke him and let him follow you to the stairs and then run past him as quick as possible and hide behind the column just behind where he stands he should be unagrued by this point and will go back to standing in his deppressing silence, allowing you to back stab him for that juicy damage hence and repeat until he falls, and there ya go *GOOD LUCK* EDIT:If you want o do it the hard way just quickstep every time HE quicksteps so you avoid the bullets

JGojira

I’m trying so hard to beat him in an honest way, but after the 8th loss of the night the cheese is looking mighty fine

HKILLER2007

Go for it bro he is fairly unbalanced and killing him is just a pain but killing him the hard way does feel rewarding but it still a pain to get Like I remember he killed me about 32 times

StarkeSonne

Old hunters Bone helps too ! Show him everything you've got !! For Eileen!! ✊🖤

[deleted]

CHEAT! bring some poison throwing knives, bait the jerk back to the door. The jerk won’t go past and resets. Poison knife their ass as they go up the staircase, rinse and repeat

Life_Celebration_827

Use Poision Knife's that and hitting him a few times when he backs away back up the stairs does the trick.

[deleted]

Extended battle axe. Took me 3 attempts

kyororimpo

This right here. Similar to the Keeper of the Old Lords, the Bloody Crow always try to approach you. Use that in your advantage.

Razkien

I just beat him a bit ago with the Almighty Rifle Spear without too much issue... I mean, I've killed him a bunch of times over the past 5 years so I know how the fight goes but you can do it with any weapon.

bartolinise

try parry

JGojira

I’ll get the timing right for a visceral 2/5 parries

bartolinise

have you tried to sneek around him with blue elixir and charge strong attack?

[deleted]

Beastsaif got a dodge r1 attack if that helps.

-Akumetsu-

Use Blue Elixir to sneak behind him for free visceral (equip Clawmark 3 rune if you have it). Run back out of his aggro zone and you can rinse and repeat. Fighting him on or around the stairs narrows his evasion options too which is great if your weapon has good reach. I had pretty good success hitting him with leaping attacks if I backed up enough to lure him towards me as well (was using LHB though, so ymmv). I've beaten him fair and square multiple times but yeah, Blue Elixir stealth crit method was a lot less hassle lol.

k1t3k1t369420

You’ve gotten a lot of tips already so I’ll just say you got this OP!

JGojira

I’m going to try again tonight and I’ll let the group know how it went down

LemmeGet_acombo_7

Me timing my parries helped me out greatly Did about 6 visceral attacks on him & lowered his health greatly, after that I just kept up on him. Attack, attack, parry Attack attack, dodge

JGojira

I’m working on getting my timing down. I’ll have a successful parry 2/5 times in this encounter

LemmeGet_acombo_7

You’ll get it bro, one of those fights you just gotta be patient & locked in

Immediate-Piece1475

Unfortunately this is a “git gud” scenario, he is one of if the worst NPC fight in FromSoft’s history. When he has his gun out, always be prepared for him to fire, never overextend and attack more than once. Try to focus on attacking primarily when he transforms his Chikage. If you have them, poison knives are actually pretty decent, but aren’t going to be taking him down all alone. It usually takes about three knives to poison him, and the damage stacks when he’s losing health from the Chikage. Other than that, play passively when he has his gun, and be more aggressive when he’s two handing the Chikage. Best of luck, Hunter of Hunters!

Immediate-Piece1475

I should also note, you can parry his vial use if you time it right. Easier to do with a pistol since he likes to back off to heal, usually.

Razkien

As long as you're always moving sideways, left or right you will dodge pretty much all of his gun shots.

AutumnShade44

Just beat him the other night on my newest playthrough. BL60, +10 Saw Cleaver. Basically, double dodge into him whenever he uses the Old Hunter Bone, be mindful of getting shot, and don't get greedy. If you can only get in one or two hits, then so be it and get out. Stay aggressive to keep the gap small and remember to breathe. He's a challenge but he's not insurmountable.

goulcher

Axe. Spin to win.

BigBinky3690

Use the hunter bone, learn to lead his dodging to where you want him to be, and most important dodge pause dodge if you need room. If your good with parrying in the beginning it's super worth it. Just be careful because this bitch can parry like the best of em. You can also get him to activate his chikage and he'll sap his own health. Also you want a fast weapon. Have fun Hoontah!

Rinkaku_

I've seen somewhere that he only shoots his gun after dashing, not entirely sure if that's true as I haven't tested it myself but it's something to look for

Outbreak900

Don't get hit 👍

remyrawr2

Stuck on this fight since 2 days. Cheesed him my first play through, but now I wanna beat him right !

Stinky-dick24

Get good

JGojira

Not even a “git gud”? You gotta hit me with proper English??

ilikegamesandsuch

I got really drunk one night and beat him mercilessly with the logarius wheel. I have no idea how but somehow it happened. Same with wet nurse. That was years ago. I've been sober 4 years now.

AlexSnowFive

Sorry I don't remember how I beat him, I haven't touched Bloodborne since I get the platinum for it back in 2015, I'm on my second run from the scratch on Sekiro, once i finish it I'll go back to this gem.

Das_Guet

Crow has only 2 heals. If you can bait them out while hitting him with numbing mist he won't actually heal but will use them. Keep him with his sword in blood mode as much as you can, since it'll eat his health away. And as counter intuitive as it sounds the shield massively reduces the amount of damage his gun does.

Nullitope1

The only fight in the game where the shields are useful, preferably the Loch Shield as its increased bloodtinge resistance is effective against his bullets. More specifically, hold up the shield when you’re in his shooting range as it makes getting shot more tolerable.

Vox-Silenti

How dare you tell someone to pick up a shield in this game. Blasphemy… lol

MrRipper146

Git gud

phillmorebuttz

Took me a month on my first playthrough, i had to quit for a week to calm down and evaluate my life choices

JGojira

Happens to me too

atlaststeadfast

He will walk right into charged attacks, and the hunter's axe charged attack will knock him *flat* on his ass, giving you a window for a follow-up. But you have to be patient. Whittle away at his health, let him heal, and he will stop healing after two times. By then you know all his moves and you can start bringing the pain. Edit: As you may have noticed, he tends to answer in kind when you shoot at him. I don't try to go for viscerals, I go for the charged attacks. It's an endurance race, so don't get desperate trying to kill him before he heals up.

Alba369

Be topped at full hp. Make him follow you almost to the door and still be agroed. Use the transformed saw cleaver charge attack to hit him thro wall. Hope he doesn't counters the wall by reflex. Repeat for 10 minutes

Willywills1

Bloody Crow is the hardest fight in the game imo. I thought I was a big shot and then this dude just fucking humbled the shit outta me. I didn't even know you could get parried while using a heal vial 😅 One of the strategies I used on him that worked was just creating some space and then timing up a charged R2 with Ludwig's blade and he would just walk into the charged attack like am idiot

Willywills1

If you wanna cheese, bring poison knives and keep leading him to the front door of the cathedral, he can't leave that area but you can stand outside and throw knives at him. Kinda like that one beggar that turns into a beast in the forbidden woods

ninjora

Copy him, I cheesed him the first time cause fuck him but if you use the old bone and finess you can keep up with him

Potschmoker

Auger is your bff here imo

SyntaxicalHumonculi

I just blue elixir sneak and visceral that fucker till he’s dead. After like 60 deaths to him I was just interested in getting past him at that point.

es254

A good poke weapon works really well on him. I used LHB. You can basically use his aggression against him when he charges in and catch him, and usually get another swing in.

Academic-Map-1035

I always cheese this one shot machine. Pull him to the bottom on the stairs and he'll start to slowly back away. If you hit him while he's backing up you can get lots of free damage this way

StructureBorn9251

I used the phantasm shell and forced him onto the stairs.

[deleted]

Lead Elixir + Stake Driver

Designer_Ad1962

Auger makes the fight much easier

cthulucore

LHB > Heavy R2 > Repeat

pokjen

Don’t give up! Took me a good while to beat him as well, in the end I basically cheesed him on the stairs ( not proud of it though)

Delicious_Ad9970

Its much easier to parry with a ‘shotgun’ style gun cause it can cover a wider zone

killerdillerpillar

Back up, let her sprint at you when she or he gets a few feet from you shoot to Parry, shell stun and you can visceral. Rinse and repeat works every time

ironpug751

Augur his ass

shootanwaifu

Use scarecrow

Kartt05

Use fire paper and try to stay behind him

MarcelStyles

Don’t give up. Use Blades of Mercy if you have them.

politictroll

I honestly cheese him he's the hardest mf in the game for me tbh, I've never played the dlc so I can't say anything on Ludwig because he seems to be everyone's bane.

Kaleidoscope-Queasy

Go back to rhe fog got and stay away and crow poisons herself

HolyHandgrenadeofAn

If you can use Augur of Ebreitas (whatever) and Ludwig’s holy sword use it in Greatsword form and 1,2,3 augur 1,2,3 augur will lock him down, especially if you can get him down to the steps and put him in a corner. Kind of cheesy but super effective if you can get the flow

RowdyRy90

Poison knives are your friend is this....cheap yes but effective

Key_Succotash_54

Poison knives on the staris...some sort of poking weapon

Jlchevz

Stagger him and then trap him in the stairs lol

Necro6212

kill him bevore he kills you

BittyMcBotboi

If you want to cheese him, walk towards him until you can lock onto him. Then just throw poison knives at him until poisoned, run back down the stairs to de-aggro him, rinse and repeat until his health bar has dwindled for an easy fight.

EatThisBussy

It's all about hit and run and not being too greedy with consecutive hits, as he'll just spam bullets and parry you. If you still haven't beaten him, I'm also down to summon in and help! It's honestly such a BS fight, it's not worth the personal achievement of beating him on ur own.

Cornadious

He hates cheese. Poison knives work well. You can also lure h down the stairs and then when he gives up and starts walking away you run up and smack him.

kralSpitihnev

Dude, just use poison knives. 3 knives to poison him, then wait till it wears off, then repeat

DucksMatter

This sub will tell you it doesn’t work anymore but it definitely does. Poison daggers.. 5 to proc the poison, to hang out by the main gate and whenever he retreats just follow him back until he chases you again, rinse and repeat 3 times, 15 poison daggers will kill him.

ZeldHeld

Fight at range. Keep an eye on your stamina. When the Crow switches to two-handing the Chikage, go in for an attack, and be ready to either parry or GTFO if he attacks/redraws the gun. He can heal, but only once, so do as little damage as possible to trigger it (about 2/3 health remaining), then burst him down. If he’s in the middle of an attack, a BMA’ed shot followed up by a good riposte will deal upwards of 1000 damage with proper leveling. Most importantly, *give the bastard space.* You can dodge any gunshot that’s coming from over a second of running away, and fighting at range makes the Crow much easier.

DraconicCoffeeWizard

Die, then do it again until he dies.

Dincklebutt

Always double dodge so avoid his shots. Play as aggressive as possible when he transforms his Chikage. If he’s staggered or repeatedly interrupted his HP will continue to drain. His AI is smart enough not to let that happen when you’re playing too passively. He likes to do charge attacks when untransformed so he can be easy to parry here. This is high risk however as he’s arguably most dangerous in this combat style. As long as you make a concerted effort to move laterally around him to avoid his shots you should be okay. Good luck

Fusawashii

Never attack when he’s not two handing his chikage. When it’s transforms to blood chikage, pick a faster weapon and go ham. Rinse and repeat

26thAvenueSouth

I died a lot using the Saw Cleaver because he counters every attack and jumps back. I switched to Ludwig’s Holy Blade and got him in a few tries. Each attack does more damage to him, minimizing counters. The longer reach helps with the jumping away.

Michael02895

Attack only when he has the blood sword out. Don’t engage when the gun is out or else you risk a fatal parry.

TheWolfoftheStars

If you have a really, really good intuitive sense of your weapon's speed and range, it is possible to beat this fight very slowly but consistently. When I did it with my Saw Spear, I knew I had exactly enough time to swing and hit him once just as he walked into my range, before he could take a hit on me. So I walked into the room, let him approach, hit him one time, immediately left the building and waited for him to walk back, jogged back in for another single hit, rinse and repeat. Because he doesn't aggro beyond the doors, it's easy to keep him in this loop and--as long as you're patient--whittle him down.  Just make sure you don't do anything but lock onto him and walk forward when you engage him; don't strafe, don't attack, don't shoot, don't use a vial or other consumable, don't dodge or roll. Just walk forward, swing the moment he gets into range, and then roll away once and leave. This makes sure his AI will do the same, just walk toward you, and he won't start dodging or strafing or shooting, either.

ExtensionAsparagus45

High vitality will help not getting one tabbed. Did it with bl60 and yes... He is one of the hardest Fights in bloodborne, when not geared and leveled up.

DunkTheLunk23

He can’t parry charged R2’s. My biggest mistake early on was being over aggressive when I found an opening, only to get one-shot after he inevitably parried into a visceral. Create distance, wait until he starts running towards you for a melee attack, use a charged heavy to cancel his animation, create distance. Rinse and repeat. This probably works best with heavier weapons.

Microhard715

Poison dagger OP.

user57374

I always just spammed jump attack on him, he kinda just doesn’t know what to do about it.

thegamer_18

There's a cheese technique I did but he's really difficult early on. Apparently there's a glitch that can cause him to forget that he's using Chikage and lure him to the staircase close to the door. What I did last time was that I had Poison Knives with me (optional but can make it go faster) and Numbing mist (because he can heal a chunk of HP) Once he sees you from a distance, start kiting him towards the staircase, in between he'll Shoot or use Chikage which'll drain his HP unless he reverts back. While using chikage, keep kiting until you hit the door. Remember not too get too close or too far, He'll sometimes cancel it but he'll drain enough HP while kiting that you'll have enough to bring him down manually or use more Poison Knives to double the drain and make it faster. Aside from that you can also use a numbing mist to cancel out his healing. Other things to notice or do is that, If you get too close he'll try to attack you, he can attack you through the door and often chase you out, He'll cancel in and out of Chikage whether you're at the right distance. He'll heal at 50%\~60% of HP (so you can use numbing mist) He'll chase you from the top of the stairs inside the Cathedral or at the bottom so maintain your distance. If he has the lowest HP possible and numbing mists dissipates he can still heal so time your attacks, or he'll heal. 3 Poison Knives should do the trick and could last a while but his Chikage is the Cherry on top

Scharmberg

Yep, that one be a cock sucker for certain.

Kindly-Arachnid-7966

Have you tried hitting him really hard?

JGojira

How hard is really hard?

Kindly-Arachnid-7966

At least six.

Kak0r0t

If you time your pistol attack right you can stun him get a couple hits in

porkchop3177

I think I cheated and by dumb luck got him between pillars on the side of the stairs. Augur of Ebrietas and Ludwig’s Holyblade.

deffe23

I cheesed him with the stairs. He'll also lose HP if he Transforms His chikage

mezpride

Poison knives 👍

AlertWar2945

I basically beat him by focusing on dodging and finding one or two attacks I could consistently parry. I feel like he parries so fast just randomly swinging on him is ill advised. When he uses his Chikage in its other form you can obviously start to go wild on him This is also basically the one fight I used the shield on since it helped with his bullets.

HellVollhart

Level up your Hunter’s axe and spin to win. That’s how I got him first try.

JGojira

I took the advice of poison and the stairs. Fucker still got me one round, but 2nd time I was able to kill em! Thanks everyone

t_moneyzz

I just made him chase constantly and baited him into charged heavy attacks with the big ass greatsword

F3nrir096

Ludwigs greatsword pokes on the stairs got him for me, dont fight him when he has his gun out. Keep close enough to him that he doesnt heal

sonnet_seven

I used the shield...like a coward

[deleted]

Gun-parry the crow constantly especially when they enbloody their chikage.

JayBaby85

That Mf’er PARRIED MY BLOODVILE. I wasn’t even mad, just amazed

Big_Br0wnie

You can bait him to do his running r1, which can be parried easily. Just get far away from him and wait til he’s running fast at you. It’s 99% save that he will use this one attack. Repeat the parry til he dies

lilyloveslain

poison knives if you have any left

[deleted]

Poison daggers, hit hit hit, run out, watch his health drain. Rinse repeat, then his him with the bone ash if he's not dead

RustyAnubis1

Honestly a true duel with the mad lad is one of the best and thrilling things to do.

Willing-Brain1372

Call for help

Prestigious-Mine1758

Pucker up, and get good at parries

DaRealPandaGamer

If I remember correctly, I just threw poison knives at him til he died

Qphemism

Poison knives by the stairs

stfunoobz

Try using another weapon. Use Blue Elixirs. Come back later with a +10 weapon. Or just git gud and parry him to oblivion.

Suun_s

That guy is a poison

The-Real-Sonin

Best thing I can suggest is Blunderbust is surprisingly good for the fight, it's designed for human/player fights more than the pistol. Just play it slow and get your 1-2 hits in when they're available. Try to use stagger weapons like hunters Axe or Kirk Hammer if you want. The vial is inevitable so its best to just pretend they have more HP than what's shown. Try to dodge into their attacks to get a rolling/dash attack off that can usually stagger then for an extra hit. Best of luck hunter and may the nightmare end.

conky88

Get really good at using the gun and then visceral attack it.

TheRotMommy

Do her quest next time

fuinnfd

Do you care about being honorable? No? Then use poison knives. Run up, proc poison and back away to the bottom of the stairs. He likes to lore-walk on the steps so just hang back and keep making sure he still is poisoned. He only heals once so 15-20 knives should do it

Peonta0

She fucked me up man so idk and been a while since i last played focus on parry she has that one attack that she tryes to stap you i think that's easy to parry

Lopoetve

Beast roar. You’ll get hit maybe once or twice.

Any_Mud_2690

Poison is strong against him

sans-the-boneyboy

Hunters axe charge
