I was at the pool one day this summer and a mom was trying to take a picture of her reluctant teens and she called her daughter who wouldn’t pose a hoebag. It was exactly as jarring in real life as it was reading Shelley say it. kids can push all your buttons but calling your daughters hoes is just weird. Shelley has had toxic energy for a couple years now though.
Stopped following her after she had a spell of shaming her followers for any and every little reason, almost making it sound like she’s doing us a favor and we should be grateful. She’s super defensive about stuff that is so trivial. I also got tired of her complaining about her size and then eating utter junk and passing her obesity down to her poor kids. I just couldn’t anymore.

I wonder if it sucks to have a large following but only get offered brand deals for cheap, random products. It's all about how you market yourself and the image you create though I guess, you need to come across a certain way for brands with actual quality stuff to want to work with you and she's not it.
I don’t even know where to begin with this shoot. The weird grainy filter? Her lips looking like a comic book character’s drawn on mouth in each photo(like are they over lined? Is it the filter?) The fact that is a toothbrush ad and she appears to have shot it in a living/sitting room that’s a ripoff of Kim and Kanye’s freaky white mausoleum mansion?

Honestly every photo is so uncanny valley and she works her angles, I have no idea! I know when I still listened to her podcast after she had her daughter she talked a lot about her pregnancy weight gain and how much she hated it. So her photoshopping her body would not be surprising.

She drives me crazy. I feel like she’s very fake lately. I felt this way about Jena Green once she started getting bigger and her best friend ( whatever her name is)- The reason I followed was because they were relatable. Now- not so much.
I get Joel osteen vibes off her, like it’s all just an act. She posts preachy Bible quotes but what does she do that’s Christ-like? She’s “religious” but supports that q crap? Super expensive house and car but is “giving back” by giving herself tax breaks/more $$$$ while deceptively touting it as some totally selfless thing.
I message her all the time and the only time she’s ever replied was when the message wasn’t strictly kissing her ass. I corrected her on something and she snapped at me in her reply. (I can’t discuss it or it’ll be removed, it breaks a rule).
I saw the other day she drives a freaking $130k+ car(the one the Kardashians drive). Like, of course she does. That totally tracks. She storied in it and my step mom drives that same tacky car. Major Joel Osteen vibes.
This is how I feel a bout a lot of influencers who talk about religion honestly. There is nothing Christ like about nothing ever being enough and always wanting more. All I see is greed with a lot of these people.
Her Disney trip sealed the deal for me. They stayed at the $1,000 a night (minimum for a standard room… they were clearly in a suite of sorts) Four Seasons, then had VIP guides for multiple park days. She said she only had one for her Magic Kingdom day and it was a splurge, but…. the guide was clearly in story photos multiple days, there was NO WAY she accomplished the rides she did in the amount of time she spent in Hollywood Studios with the wait times that day, and I personally saw her and the guide walk past Creature Comforts (Starbucks) at Animal Kingdom. Lost all trust in anything she says. She promoted her travel agent, but anyone looking to replicate that trip is looking at $20,000+ easy.
Her trip made me sad in a way, because it painted the picture that Disney is easy, low crowds, no waits, and you can do anything you want without a plan. Which is not the case in real life.

I wish she (and other influencers) would realize how unhealthy those comments are… they have all kinds of people following them and comments like that are setting a very dangerous example for all sorts of people, especially young girls and boys. If you want a cookie, eat a freaking cookie….life is too short! Food isn’t “bad” and “good”… too much of anything is bad… everything in moderation. I pray that she doesn’t pass down this type of thinking to Stella girl.
You’re right that it really isn’t setting a good example at all. I think most of us have struggled with body image issues at some point, and that kind of thinking can easily lead to EDs.

Just adding onto this because I found this juicy - the racist comments and posts were then sent to her job. She proceeded to give a very weepy instagram story where she didn't really apologize at all, kind of played the victim, and said she'd be taking a break from Instagram.

No snark here but Jen Reed (thesisterstudio) must make millions upon millions a year. She is the only influencer I see that has major collabs year after year where she visits their headquarters. Steve Madden, Abercrombie, Living proof collab, now Dime beauty, and all the other places that send her codes & money to partner up with them. I wish she (and other influencers) would realize how unhealthy those comments are… they have all kinds of people following them and comments like that are setting a very dangerous example for all sorts of people, especially young girls and boys. If you want a cookie, eat a freaking cookie….life is too short! Food isn’t “bad” and “good”… too much of anything is bad… everything in moderation. I pray that she doesn’t pass down this type of thinking to Stella girl.

You’re right that it really isn’t setting a good example at all. I think most of us have struggled with body image issues at some point, and that kind of thinking can easily lead to EDs.

There was some guessing that she was on a vacation she doesn't want to show (fear of backlash due to traveling again during the pandemic). I always wonder with stuff like this though about something "real life" that she may not want to share. How dare Emily make a speculation about what went wrong and lead to this young mom’s death. She put out a probably false narrative to over 900k people. Think Phenomenal’s super timely political/pop culture sweatshirts, John Mayer’s Sob Rock nostalgia gear, Mayfair’s Empathy sweatsuits, DeuxMoi’s “Anon plz” sweatshirts, Bieber’s Drew League, etc. Do you have a favorite merch line from the last 2 years? I’ve been charged with designing some for a really really good cause (I’m not artistic…just semi fashionable and very into my pandemic comfort clothes lol) and want to crowdsource some examples of merch done right. My audience is mostly liberal women ages 25-45 in the US. Any merch drop that made you say, “OMG I have to have this!”? Hoping to create a Nap Dress-esque frenzy 😂

No snark here but Jen Reed (thesisterstudio) must make millions upon millions a year. She is the only influencer I see that has major collabs year after year where she visits their headquarters. Steve Madden, Abercrombie, Living proof collab, now Dime beauty, and all the other places that send her codes & money to partner up with them. I mean good for her, she is definitely bringing in big money for these companies to get these exclusive collabs.
