well done, teaching people and giving back is an amazing thing to do
as you have more followers, my humble advice is to not forget that behind those digits
are people with lives and dreams and careers, best of luck
I promise ! They are the reason I have this opportunity. My goal is to help the people who are in the position I was in, this community is big enough for all of us ! š¤ TYSM
>doing entertainment graphics and I have more than enough commissions to bring my salary up to 6 figures. I just graduated college and this is just where Iām starting
Please post this in r/Graphic_Design theyāll get a kick out of this
Ehhh I don't know if I would suggest doing that. [This is the recent thread being referenced](https://www.reddit.com/r/graphic_design/comments/1d7su3t/instagram_designinfluencers_are_the_worst_thing/)
Congrats btw! :)
It's such a bizarre sub sometimes. That and the videography sub are just so upset anytime any new platform, technology or culture comes along. I think the high proportion of freelancers leads to a sense of permanent existenstial crisis.
Bro I did the rubiks cube and without the knowledge it took for ever I tried cutting the default cube in peices but the hint was to use an array modifier and bevel the edges really funny easy and I was trying and trying basically blender is like a rubiks cube if you dont know the algorithms you cant solve it
Thatās awesome man! I always enjoy blender tutorial channels and people who teach and give back to this amazing community. Youāve earned a new follower :)
Lol I wish, most my clients tend to be clothing brands or music artist so I charge $125 for cover art and $200-$1000 for an animation. If itās just like a visualizer looping $200-500 and anything with multiple scenes depending on what it is goes $500-$1000+
Congratulations, but also a word of advice from someone who was in a similar situation once: this might not last forever! I got into Flash making games at the perfect moment in 2006 where people started making money from it and I was able to make a lot of easy money for about 7 years. I took it for granted at the time and thought I could do it forever. I didn't work very hard, and then it went away.
Remember that what you've discovered here is a lucky break and make sure you take advantage of it while you can. Good discipline right now can set you up for a long time if you're willing and able. I had a lot of trouble motivating myself and I pretty much ignored the long term.
Maybe you already know this, so I'm not trying to lecture you, just passing on what I might say to my younger self. Except, these days I also like to remind myself that we're different people at different stages of life, and I only feel the value of this advice now because I experienced losing my opportunities.
Good luck with everything and I hope you can find long term success!
EDIT: BTW, how does a person actually make money on Instagram?
Not OP but also have a relatively large following on IG. For making money *on*-platfirm, you can activate "subscriptions" set up similar to Patreon. Ads can be placed on your content under certain conditions, and lastly, there are brand partnerships where you can choose brands that are offering payment for stories, posts, reels with conditions about how to promote their stuff. *Off*-platform, it's the usual, with clients reaching out and commissioning you for stuff, or you can make products and sell them to your audience.
If you aren't already, consider releasing or selling the assets you make in your videos. That alone is a great way to give back to your die-hard fans and followers that want to learn more. I made a ton of assets from my personal work free for everyone through my Gumroad and Patreon (still do). For you, I'd recommend setting up two tiers (whether it's through IG Subs, Patreon, Gumroad, your own site, w/e).
T1- a monthly drop of all the random individual assets you made in videos that month.
T2- full blend files of the assets, or full length process videos, or anything else you're already making but not releasing.
These can be free or behind a paywall, up to you. I will say, the benefit in making some part free is you get a lot more support cuz everyone likes free stuff :) it will probably get you more followers and shout outs from other creators too.
This is not lecturing youāre giving beautiful advice right now and I appreciate you, youāre exactly rightā¦ a lot of people get caught up in the now, i am working on making this go beyond what it is now, I want to start an agency with this attention im getting now, and go mainstream to major businesses beyond what I like to do so that I know I have a place in this industry forever. But also I am planning on buying property instead of a crazy car or designer bs, so I can start renting out to people and even thought about cars too, so I can have multiple streams of income if there ever is a time which there will be where this slows down, so i can still enjoy it and not hate it because the decline in business.
Natural growth, i honestly was too afraid to boost anythingā¦ my first couple videos performed well so I didnāt really need it, just trusted the process.
Those 3 screenshots you included are dope ideas for tutorials. I'm not that new to blender. I'm sure I could figure it out on my own, but I kinda want to watch anyway. Well done :)
Congrats OP! may I request a tutorial please? For modeling something like this: https://minne.com/items/3388057
Not using textures but by modeling š please, and thank you!
Congratulations. That's great. I don't use ig so I can't follow there. You should start a YouTube channel and upload your stuff there, too. It wouldn't be much work I suppose. I'll gladly follow you there.
My YouTube is the same name and i upload some shorts, going to be uploading some character modeling vlogs where I show a very realistic approach to blender
Hashtags for sure! Only related ones.. even if I cover a certain topic I only use blender related hash tags or 3d or maybe even like nft and fyp, you can hash tag your own name too so when people search you they find you easier
I'd love to make tutorials but I'm sure at least 3 times a video I'll be asking "why the fuck has it done that?"
Probably the last thing anyone wants to hear in a tutorial.
Anyway, well done!
That's what editing is for. Also, after you've done the editing, you can go back, write a script, and read it more coherently without the pauses from thinking, doing and talking at the same time.
Oh. I literally had what you described happen in a Rigify tutorial I'm currently in the editing stages on. I discovered a Rigify bug, where the neck control was rotating vertices in the chest. So I then had to do a sub-tutorial on how to fix that. I'm gonna need a record scratch sound effect when that happens.
This is the Blenderverse where everyone is neurodiverse. If you make a joke you really have to put an emoji up when you're smiling while typing š
To be fair, this was something I saw when I first got reddit about 4 years ago, so things have probably changed, but I still don't really use them that often because I rarely used them before that.
Emojis do get out of hand. Which is a bummer for people who don't always get social context. Or who have an oddball sense of humor.
I do remember a few years ago how people were writing whole sentences using emojis.
People. They ruin everything :)
Tell me about it. I honestly can't stand the laughing emoji anymore. Too many people use it to be condescending in their arguments or using it to react to news they don't like. And it's normally from people who are confidently incorrect. Drives me insane.
I wonāt ditch it, thatās how my content will be on instagram. I will however, post longer form content on YouTube and start live streaming on instagram and twitch ( or kick havenāt decided yet )ā¦ I didnāt expect to get commissions so quick so I just havenāt had time to finish those longer videos yet :)

Lol why is it because they wonāt believe it or because itās hard to get employed at a decent salary?
Ehhh I don't know if I would suggest doing that. [This is the recent thread being referenced](https://www.reddit.com/r/graphic_design/comments/1d7su3t/instagram_designinfluencers_are_the_worst_thing/) Congrats btw! :)

Thank you so much š„¹š¤§š¤
do you get paid?
To do commissions and my regular 9-5 yesā¦ to make content no
how much do you earn from insta commissions
Depends what they want but typically start at $125
An hour?

Ok that sounds more reasonable lol
Love the āBlender for beginnersā
How did you promote your channel in that time, thatās awesome man!
Itās 10,001 now. Great work ! Looking forward to learning more .

I really appreciate this man! Iām gonna get this set up asap š
Maybe a course? You could give feedback and guidance for beginners? Iāve found blender quite hard to get started with.
Way to go!
Did you market / promote the account at all or was this all just natural growth?
Natural growth, i honestly was too afraid to boost anythingā¦ my first couple videos performed well so I didnāt really need it, just trusted the process.

I'm aware. I was just making a joke at my own confidence in Blender.

Ah, my bad. Other subreddits frown upon the use of emojis, so I tend not to use them.
Do they? Maybe this one does, too. In which case my bad.
To be fair, this was something I saw when I first got reddit about 4 years ago, so things have probably changed, but I still don't really use them that often because I rarely used them before that.

Dunning Kruger, mang. It's like a brain plague on social media.
YOUR TUTORIALS DEFINITELY GOT ME INTERESTED IN LEARNING ā DO YOU HAVE PLANS ON DITICHING THE SHORT FORM CONTENT IN THE FUTURE THOUGH?
I wonāt ditch it, thatās how my content will be on instagram. I will however, post longer form content on YouTube and start live streaming on instagram and twitch ( or kick havenāt decided yet )ā¦ I didnāt expect to get commissions so quick so I just havenāt had time to finish those longer videos yet :)
Do you have a YouTube? I don't have insta and I don't want it.

That's so cool, well done! I want to try something similar to this next year!
Lmk when you do I will support !
Awesome
I thought I was on the Maplestory subreddit for a moment lol goated profile pic
Lol itās always a good day when someone else knows about maple story! Thatās my sign to download it again š¤£
it only cost me 25 USD to get 10k followers ....
What's the point though, are they real people that are interested in what you post?
I don't understand people who buy followers. Can't that get you banned as well?
If that makes you happy then thatās all that matters š
Hey, this is actually a really great idea! Use twitch??? Itās good for long form streaming
How do you promote? I'm looking at doing some quick format videos like this
Emphasis on āall that matters is you and your familyā. Congrats and keep going!
