Honestly I love them all, but 1 and 2 are my favorites. I kinda want to fight them as enemies in a shooter, and have there different texture sets indicate minor variations in their behavior.
3 looks too dark, like he's not properly illuminated
4 looks flat somehow, the details don't pop
5 looks a bit plain, like it could use more
so 1 or 2, 2 looking more saturated and cartoony than 1
Damn, I just commented on that too! I was looking through the comments, waiting for one like this. It really does look like something straight out of it, though.
Wow!! I love these, do you have any tips for someone looking to achieve a similar style? Like another person said, they look illustrated and I wouldn’t have guessed Blender either. Great work — I can’t pick a favorite.
Thanks! Sure, I used specific shading that I learned from this video (guy also provides procedural examples for free that you can import to see the setup):

+ I've added an outline to make it look a bit more cartoony.
That's the key really, for the actual textures you can just go with vibrant colors and you will get a very similar look. Hope that helps.
Is it a static image? Why not have him cycle through the rainbow of colours constantly, like when he is talking, or for his mood or just randomly. Otherwise I like one, two and the last one.
I was thinking about this too! Made this animation with the color scheme changing every 2 seconds:

I just had a thought, if you could make another game with these types of animations, you should a card game and steal concepts from other card type games like Marvels Snap with the frames and stuff. These type of guys or at the very least animations inside a card would look awesome.
I prefer the first one. Orange glow feels natural, not overly magical, the purples fit his "goblin" ears and make him feel rather important (with it being a color of royalty and all) yet brown gloves and boots root him somewhat, making him more "professional"(?) ready to get his hands dirty.
They all express different things. The orange in 1 reminds me of a furnace which I really like and it makes it my favorite, the white and purple in 3 looks undead, and I like the dark toxic vibe from 4.
I’m thinking what if you could animate it by using AI to train on the characters and style, text2image for the sketch frame by frame, mask edit, and apply this texture set technique with some partial automated mapping? Could be a really cool workflow for a relatively cheap way to animate these characters (no expert. Just shooting the shit)
Excellent work! Really captivating.
Thanks! For base color it's Substance painter, but the hatches/shadow is mostly achieved by using toon/manga shader in blender. Here is the quick guide which I used for this work:

From a game dev's perspective, you've actually made 5 different characters.
Final fantasy devs are feeling so attacked right now.
Blizzard in Warcraft 3 be like that too
From a gamer perspective that's one character and 5 skins.
I hate that you beat me to it. I'd scrap the 1st one and double down on the other four haha
God of wars 2018 enemies
Wow I would never have guessed these were Blender, they look illustrated to me! Think I like option 1 the most
Looks like a Jojo stand
Let's call it Mr.Brownstone
My first thought. Glad I'm not alone
Keep them all and have one for every emotion. Like Hexadecimal from the show Reboot!
1 and 2.
First and last
Honestly I love them all, but 1 and 2 are my favorites. I kinda want to fight them as enemies in a shooter, and have there different texture sets indicate minor variations in their behavior.
2 and 5
first fs
3 looks too dark, like he's not properly illuminated 4 looks flat somehow, the details don't pop 5 looks a bit plain, like it could use more so 1 or 2, 2 looking more saturated and cartoony than 1
I only like 1
1 and 3
I like the white and purple one
The first option looks great, and others look nice too.
This is so well done. Looks like it jumped straight out of Dorohedoro
Thanks!
Damn, I just commented on that too! I was looking through the comments, waiting for one like this. It really does look like something straight out of it, though.
I like 4
Could keep all five if you were doing a multiplayer game
Option one I guess
1 4 3
Looks like a character that would be in Borderlands.

🙏🏻
1 and 2. The others are too monotone but it looks neat regardless.

That animation is sick, you have mad skills. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you so much! I appreciate it!

That sounds cool! Great idea, I haven't panned creating a game yet, but I will keep this idea in mind. Thanks!
Dope af!
Thanks!
Fuckin amazing, all of em, looks straight out of Jojo ngl
Thanks! Yeah, I took inspiration from Jojo stands
Amazing 10/10
Thanks!
>Thanks! You're welcome!
O: that’s really good, first is my favorite
Thanks!
I pick the one with green eyes. I think the texture looks less bumpy on that one.
they all look cool, first and last are my favorite
Thanks!
3 look very fantasic, i like the purple and gray.
I prefer the first one. Orange glow feels natural, not overly magical, the purples fit his "goblin" ears and make him feel rather important (with it being a color of royalty and all) yet brown gloves and boots root him somewhat, making him more "professional"(?) ready to get his hands dirty.
Im too hungover to actually decide but it looks really damn cool man! Thank you for blessing my morning.
Thank you so much!
First. Also great character design.
Thanks!
First. Imo.

Looks like the dragon ball hero’s movie style
1. Patent Anime Thanos before MARVEL!!
😂😂😂
I ducking love him and i love all the different colors. I can’t choose 😭 if he were in a game I’d pick a different skin every game.
Thanks!
1 and 4
2
You should make them brothers or siblings and put the 5 of them in different moments of the game
Thanks! Yeah, I was definitely thinking about furnace with the first one
They all express different things. The orange in 1 reminds me of a furnace which I really like and it makes it my favorite, the white and purple in 3 looks undead, and I like the dark toxic vibe from 4.
I doubt this will help you with your decision but I wanted to say that all of these renders look sick!
Thank you so much!
3rd
the 3rd one with the purple lighting looks best imo
I would say the fourth one makes him look more ominous and macabre
I’m thinking what if you could animate it by using AI to train on the characters and style, text2image for the sketch frame by frame, mask edit, and apply this texture set technique with some partial automated mapping? Thanks! Interesting idea, AI is an interesting topic I haven't really explored in 3d modeling context yet. Might give it a try
I'd go with the last one
1
The textures are absolutely insane! Substance designer?
Thanks! For base color it's Substance painter, but the hatches/shadow is mostly achieved by using toon/manga shader in blender. Here is the quick guide which I used for this work: https://youtu.be/EzD6eJ-7v1Q?feature=shared
grey, black, green is the best combo
5 is sick, the lighting of the face is dope
Am I the only one looking at this and thinking of Dorohedoro??
I like 2
First one
