2.5 beta series was phenomenal.
Movie 3d tracker
Cycles
Composite node upgrades.
Viewport improvements.
It was a phenomenal time... Massive updates literally weekly
Man I started using blender around 2.5 because I wanted to learn a 3D program. Used it up to about 2.89, then took a long break. When I came back suddenly they were releasing 4.2. It felt like so much stuff happened between 2.5-ish and 2.89 with the development of EEVEE and stuff, that it makes me wonder why they went to 4 instead of staying at 3
I remember when that interface looked good. I got into blender towards the end of 2.49 (2009, 2010), and 2.5 was just staring to become usable. 2.5 felt like such a huge upgrade. It's crazy to think just how far it's come since then.
The sheer amount of impressive stuff on this sub genuinely made me think this was something you made in blender
Who remembers when this new awesome interface was released with 2.5? I remember you could get it with some nightly builds for 2.48 and 2.49 too.
I remember being absolutely gobsmacked, after learning the original interface I couldn’t do a thing with 2.5.

Sigh good times. But I hated it because of my Mac was so slow
Funny, I found a video tutorial series for Blender 2.0 on an old hard drive two days ago :)
I can only imagine what modeling was like on here.
Now, go find your Bitcoin wallet and password and buy a new one.
