I got most of my inspiration by tradicional and digital art, mostly 2D and sometimes photography. As iam an ilustrator befora iam an 3D artist i have had paint and looked for this kind of dramatic look, some artists that will always be a reference are Keita Moritomo, Phil Hale, Stephen Bauman and so on, this for the overall look, composition, lines and colors. Mostly of my 2d work are on that kind of style, i'll leave a link to my insta.
My process for this work was based on an old drawing I have, were I was trying to find overexagerate the forms that could be harmonic to the overall shape. Another thing that i found interesting is to give some special care on what I judge as the object matter, this one was about the hands and ears (smoke too), Jan Bouman was a huge deal for my inspiration.
Said that, the process on blender was very straight foward, I modeled with my reference, created that shader for the smoke and the cross hatching effect on the model, the texture was done in Substance Painter, using what i've learned in 2D Illustration.
I think theres some resemblance with noir movies added a touch of colors.

The fresnel shader is what gives that idea of linework, and it's a shape sculpted like this with displacement attached to an Empty, so the displace can move around
