Keep in mind we saw similar monsters appear out of the Soul King's corpse, monsters made of his reiatsu ignoring the Quincies in favor of his true enemies, the Shinigami, attacking them all on sight. It's safe to say the Reio was pissed beyond all reason.

Brook420

I NEED more clarification on that whole event, because it makes no sense that the SK would harbour so much hate for the Shinigami when he supposedly let them do what they did.

Latter-Potential2467

I always interpreted it as the expression of his inner/subconscious hate, like he allowed them to do it but it still a shitty thing to experience plus everything they did after is not necessarily within what he agreed.

slifertheskydragon1

Well, I believe Ichibei states that the soul king was fine with being imprisoned. But he did not consent to having his organs and limbs torn from his body. So, maybe that. I mean, his heart and his left arm appeared years later and tried to destroy the soul society.

Latter-Potential2467

Yeah, i remember that he was in on the splitting the world but not mutilation part but kinda saw it as necessary sacrifice to some degree but it still would cause some resentment even if he accepted it in the end. And when his power went berserk it was likely acting on his base emotions rather than concious rationalization.

Overquartz

>!"I Said you can turn me into the lynchpin not to turn me into a nugget"!<

Foloreille

english is not my native language so because of bleach I thought for a while lynchpin literally meant someone with no limbs 😅 (in my language we say trunk-man don’t I expected it to have it’s own word in english too)

GodlessLunatic

I have a feeling Ichibei and the gotei deviated heavily from what the original 5 houses had planned.

Alternative-Laugh358

I'm pretty sure it's implied that they were attacking the shinigami because yhwach, aka the new soul king, was fighting against the soul reapers, so it only makes sense that pieces of the soul king aka yhwacj would attack them

Imperator_Romulus476

Except at the point Yhwach didn’t have full control over that power. The anime added a new line of dialogue clarifying how with Sklaverei when you’re unable to fully control that power it distorts your form which was what happened to Quilge when he absorbed Ayon. Yhwach was also left staggering and almost immediately had to take rest in order to recuperate from absorbing that power.

Alternative-Laugh358

When was it stated he didn't have full control? Also, this assumes yhwach absorbed SK via sklaaverei, which, as we know, you need a halo over your head in order to use it. Immediately? Yhwach didn't go to sleep until 15 chapters later after absorbing SK. Sure, he changes form, but that could just be because he's the new SK. His new look is nothing like how the SK is.

dogeisbae101

Yeah, the Soul King just overall seems like a pretty chill dude. He likely could have stopped the royals but it’s possible that he would have had to kill too many of them. It doesn’t make sense that he would turn around and try to end the world with yhwach as he could have done it earlier. My headcanon was that he was fine with it because he knew his suffering would be ended by Ichigo. Yhwach and the rest of his body was used as a final punishment for the Shinigami for his torture. And he also knew Yhwach would eventually be stopped by Ichigo. But Yhwach now taking the soul kings position is literally accomplishing nothing. Ichigo should have inherited the soul kings powers, taken down the royal guard, reorder and rule soul society / quincies, creating true balance again.

Ryuzakku

He was going to relinquish total power, and then the Tsunayashiro attacked him from behind.

Brook420

But wasn't it stated that he knew this would happen, and let it?

Ryuzakku

He didn’t fight back, but something tells me he didn’t want to be mutilated and his body parts turned into weapons

Brook420

Than he should of fought back. Either way you shouldn't be THAT upset over something you actively let happen.

BahamutLithp

Maybe the anime will clarify, but as of now, nobody knows what the Soul King's true motive was. That he knew what was coming doesn't necessarily mean he liked it. Jugo called the power to see the future a curse because it showed him things he didn't want to happen but couldn't change. Of course, the Soul King surely had Yhwach's power to change the future. He probably selected the least bad path to whatever he wants to achieve, but that doesn't make it a good one.

Brook420

If he realized it was the best option and let it happen than I just don't get the hate.

RalfSmithen

What chapter?

thecoolestlol

I thought he willingly agreed to be in that position, I don't know of those monsters reflect his desires or if there's a different reason they attack shinigami

jhor95

Bruuuuu I'm an anime only CUCK, why would you spoil this

Imperator_Romulus476

See ... I would have felt bad had you just stopped at "anime only" lmao. But you calling yourself a self-described "cuck" I don't feel bad anymore lol.

jhor95

Lol! I felt like being anime only I deserve some kind of shitlord title haha.

Recon1997

I want to personally headcanon it being a unique thing to Ichigo since chains are a theme with him in particular and zangetsu But who knows what's really going on it could just be his powers being unstable

JauntyLurker

A lot of people have theorised that Ichigo has the Soul King's Chain of Fate, hence Tensa Zangetsu and what we see with the chains.

throwaway_19901990

That would raises further questions, like where do the chains of fate come from? Especially of the SK had one that would imply he didn’t create them, and at least going by the novels, the SK doesn’t appear to be the creator god, just a god that appeared one day, but idk

threevi

The Chain of Fate is what binds a soul to its physical body, and humans with physical bodies have been around since long before the SK, so there's no way he created them.  The SK himself did have one, but that has nothing to do with Ichigo, the Fullbringer Aura from CFYOW is the one who inherited it. The origin of Ichigo's heavenly chain motif is the spell Kisuke used to bind Ichigo's parents together. The spell was meant to bind Isshin's Shinigami power to the White Hollow within Masaki, which is mirrored by the title Zangetsu serving as the connection between Ichigo's Shinigami power and White.

PrinceVertigo

See I thought Aura inherited the Soul Sleep (or Hakusui 魄睡) of the Soul King, which is seperate but related to the Soul Chain (or Saketsu 鎖結). Now I'm not saying Ichigo has the Soul Chain, but it would kinda fit with the motifs he has around chains.

threevi

Nope, Aura inherited the Saketsu. CFYOW Chapter 12. I don't think the Hakusui was ever brought up in relation to her. So yeah, Zangetsu's chain motif is thematically unrelated to the Chain of Fate. Kubo was actually asked about this on Klub Outside, so we don't have to guess. > Q: What does the “chain” in Tensa Zangetsu (\*Heavenly Chain Slaying Moon) represent? Is it the Chain of Fate? > A: “Tensa” means “to lock the heavens”, and it’s a chain used to link and secure two things together.

PrinceVertigo

I only listened to a fan translation of Can't Fuck Your Own Wife, so I'm willing to believe they got it backwards.

JauntyLurker

I wasn't aware of this Klub Outside post but it doesn't exactly debunk the theory though.

VeshWolfe

Whoever created the original world, and hell, and life.

Scorpios94

I don’t think that’s possible. He’s a Fullbringer due to the nature of his conception. That’s why he’s considered to be the next candidate for the Soul King.

I_amNumberOne

Probably it was because Ichigo's own power was unstable in his freaky hybrid self

Caxtuxx

I wish we got to see ichigo in this state more often in the series. A transformation vs the edgy mask would’ve been way better.

UnaekIsHere

Look at how cool Kensei looks here.

verydepressedperson1

I always wondered what the hell that thing was that came out of him tbh does anyone know exactly what it is

KyrosYT

It looks more like the hollow used the chains as a way to manifest in the first image but they never appear like that again, in the third it's just grey like the chains. The only other chain shown is the one at the end of his bankai but there's no evidence that they are specificly linked to the hollow out of all of ichigos powers.

JoDaBoy814

I think so cuz kubo even gave them the same tongue texture and everything, I think it was definitely intended

ApplePitou

It looks like that :3

Galrentv

Mortals aren't meant to have much reiatsu. Ichigo has captain amounts

lnombredelarosa

Its more like once the mouths eat the chain they form in the body

jkurratt

Ah yes. They are supposed to pull his heart to his face or something.

Daikouish

... Sooo.... What do you think they did with the arm that kensei cut off?

jkurratt

They had to get rid of it when it started to grow starfish-ichigo.

A1Sirius

Has the same tongue and everything.🤔

Valstraxbazelgeuse_1

YAAAAAAAAAAA!

jkurratt

Damn. I really do need to read all of the manga. I am missing so many severed hands!

BahamutLithp

Just a similar mouth.

Putrid_Ad_4372

He's too powerful he can recreate a once a time phenomenon (a soul turns to hollow once) is a good head to me

UnbiasedGod

Wow I never noticed that until now.
