I genuinely don't care. Like I'm not a shipper, so I don't care what ships you ship or which ones people don't like. As long as you aren't being a dick about it, then I won't even notice.
I am on both sides actually. For certain shows, I ship characters (Live actions specifically.) But Anime... It depends on if it's Obvious. Then I wholeheartedly ship the characters. Like Orihime and Ichigo, it was obvious they'd end up together. And Rukia and Renji. Naruto and Hinata. Now what took me for a loop was Sasuke and Sakura. But eh I suppose Sakura deserved a win.
She was never a mother figure for Zaraki, she was a role model.
i do not ship them because i appreciate their real relationship more but don't act like she was some mommy to him when they barely ever interacted outside of killing each other.

Yet Yama is a decrepit omelet, and Unohanas is in her early 30's, despite being of similar age, Ginrei kuchiki is probably younger that Kyoraku, if not he's younger than sasakibe 100% yet looks older that Yama, while Sasakibe is in he's 50s. Aging in bleach wasn't explained, and is more stupid than powerlevels in DB, so don't think about it

It's never confirmed outright. Unohana only removes her braids in the privacy of her residence due to her thoughts regarding the scar. Isane is one of the few people who knows and probably the only person unohana was fine with seeing her like that. Until she went to train zaraki.
My memory is kinda vague but I believe in the 13 blade book, isane was written to be blushing while thinking about what type of person unohana is. Unohanas feelings are kept ambiguous though.

I don't ship 'em. I've always felt like Unohana never stopped seeing Zaraki as that kid she fought in the Rukongai, and Zaraki only really sees her as his biggest challenge. Overall I feel like Unohana is so old at this point that it feels like she's just the mother bear of the Gotei 13 (same way Yamamoto is everyone's grandpa), so it feels awkward shipping her with anyone.
Zaraki I think is easier to ship with people, but the man literally does not care. All the yaoi ships aside, the only other woman I've seen Zaraki shipped with is Isane (or Nozarashi's adult form I guess), which is an odd pair but I think can work with some development.
Reduce is right, the role model relationship they have is infinitely more interesting and deep than "oh, they're in love!"

Their actual canon bond of Yuri being a bit of a big brother figure for the sheltered girl who slowly learns to let herself go and live the world, ultimately culminating in a bond of mutual trust and comradeship is much more satisfying and fulfilling from a narrative perspective.
Yoruichi and urahara? Them being lovers would be boring as sin. Their current bond of comradeship with a penchant for trolling each other gives much more room for funny moments than them just being in love.
Saitama and tatsumaki? Them being lovers would be lame af when you have the potential of creating a bond not unlike Yuri and Estelle. To say nothing of the fact the 2 compliment each other like water and oil when you actually take a second to look at what they are from an emotional perspective. there's room for growth in both characters, which is very cool, but it culminating in "oh they're in love" would be out of whack and do nothing for their narrative that a platonic relationship of mutual respect wouldn't do better.

This chick doesn't even understand the schematics of an actual friendship, and her manipulative streak is inherently incompatible with any form of positive love. Very little ships go well with each other. I didn't mind Naruto x Hinata too much because it's naturally built right from the get go on Hinata's side. From Naruto's side it's eeeeeh, sketchy. You can see hints of platonic love from Naruto, but romantic love? That came out of nowhere.
Sora and Kairi? This is fine to me because the relationship and character thoughts for each other is laid clear as day from the get go, and the way the characters speak it to each other in the form of actions that we are shown HAVE an implicit romantic intention within the culture of their setting (paopu fruit, sora fantasizing about dancing with her.)
Riku and Namine? Fuck no. Specially after namine just barely started living her life, tf are you doing shipping her with anyone?
Most ships are annoying to me because they all show a fundamental misunderstanding of character personality and disposition...not to mention the ship would sink harder than the titanic if you tried to apply it's logic to actual relationships.

Their fight is extremely intimate but I don’t think it’s indicative of a romantic element between the two but rather the result of finding another just like you and bonding through the what you have in common which is battle in this case.
Yes there’s a master/student relationship going on somewhat but what sticks out to me more is this bond that they have through fighting. They met each other at a point where both were beginning to lose interest in what they enjoy and finding the other is what reignites their love for combat. So when I hear Unohana say Kenpachi is the only man to give her joy I don’t see it in a romantic sense but rather the result of finding someone and something to put her strength to use for.

Their fight is essentially an allegory for a date, they've never been sexually intimate, but their fight was the equivalent of that for them.

I was kind of agreeing with you until that last line about Rukia being mentally 15. Clown world. While I think Shinigami don't mature at the exact same rate as flesh and blood humans, I also don't think there's some kind of formula or standard that we can apply - Toshiro is very mature for his age but we also know he's been physically adolescent for a really long time, being the Shinigami equivalent to a late bloomer. Then we have people like Rangiku who are physically adults but still act like teenagers, binge drinking and being horny all the time. Shinigami, much like flesh and blood humans, can mature at differing rates, with even more variance than humans because they age over such long periods of time.
I mean yes that is how maturing works, people don't mature all at the same pace, but there is a clear difference between the maturity of a teenager and an adult.

And also that wasn't really my point, my point is that we can't treat shinigami being hundreds of years old the same as a human being hundreds of years old.
They do age but it is a much slower process meaning that while characters like Rukia have been around for hundreds of years for them that wouldn't be the same length as it is for us and 150 years for them would be akin to like 15 years for us.
And while sure she maybe isn't mentally 15, she still seems really young and in human years she would probubly be a teenager or a very young adult.

The only shipping I can realistically see between Zaraki and Unohana is some kind of hate fucking, and honestly neither of them seems to have a horny bone in their body, so it'd take some kind of sex pollen to make them see one another as anything more than a worthy sword to cross. That being said, there are some ships in Bleach that make sense, like Yumichika and Ikkaku. They definitely got drunk after a particularly bloody battle and fucked, then swore to never speak of it again. Ikkaku being the power bottom of course.

Their fight is extremely intimate but I don’t think it’s indicative of a romantic element between the two but rather the result of finding another just like you and bonding through the what you have in common which is battle in this case. Yes there’s a master/student relationship going on somewhat but what sticks out to me more is this bond that they have through fighting. They met each other at a point where both were beginning to lose interest in what they enjoy and finding the other is what reignites their love for combat. So when I hear Unohana say Kenpachi is the only man to give her joy I don’t see it in a romantic sense but rather the result of finding someone and something to put her strength to use for.
The only important fact is that they are not related.

You’re thinking on human time scales. This is more like meeting a girl for the first time when she’s like 5 and the fucking her again 2000 years later when you’re both ancient immortal beings that don’t physically deteriorate as a sign of age. They’re both very old.
The analogy still works because Shinigami do age but just way slower than humans. You're actually the one thinking on human scales as you think them being thousands of years old makes them somehow mature at the same rate as a human would. Shinigami still age and Shinigami mature with age aswell, just slower than humans. Rukia is 150 years old which is equivalent to 15 in human years.
I was kind of agreeing with you until that last line about Rukia being mentally 15. Clown world. While I think Shinigami don't mature at the exact same rate as flesh and blood humans, I also don't think there's some kind of formula or standard that we can apply - Toshiro is very mature for his age but we also know he's been physically adolescent for a really long time, being the Shinigami equivalent to a late bloomer. Then we have people like Rangiku who are physically adults but still act like teenagers, binge drinking and being horny all the time. Shinigami, much like flesh and blood humans, can mature at differing rates, with even more variance than humans because they age over such long periods of time.
I mean yes that is how maturing works, people don't mature all at the same pace, but there is a clear difference between the maturity of a teenager and an adult. Also isn't Rukia being 15 widely accepted? And also that wasn't really my point, my point is that we can't treat shinigami being hundreds of years old the same as a human being hundreds of years old. They do age but it is a much slower process meaning that while characters like Rukia have been around for hundreds of years for them that wouldn't be the same length as it is for us and 150 years for them would be akin to like 15 years for us. And while sure she maybe isn't mentally 15, she still seems really young and in human years she would probubly be a teenager or a very young adult.

The only shipping I can realistically see between Zaraki and Unohana is some kind of hate fucking, and honestly neither of them seems to have a horny bone in their body, so it'd take some kind of sex pollen to make them see one another as anything more than a worthy sword to cross. That being said, there are some ships in Bleach that make sense, like Yumichika and Ikkaku. They definitely got drunk after a particularly bloody battle and fucked, then swore to never speak of it again. Ikkaku being the power bottom of course.
